CHAPTER ONE
Orion“Chorong please, wake up…”
Chorong suddenly woke up to the antiseptic smell of the hospital room, scrunching her nose. Wondering whose voice was trying to wake her up, she looked around and realized she was alone. She couldn’t remember how she ended up there; all she could muster out of her brain is leaving her house this morning. But then she realized she doesn’t even know how long she’s been there.
She was about to get up when the doorknob twitched and a doctor went in.
“Good to see you’re awake. I’m Jeong Eunji and I’ll be the doctor attending to you while you’re here.” She said with a smile as she flips through her patient’s clipboard. “Have you been up long? How are you feeling?”
Chorong was slightly taken aback by the doctor’s genuine bright smile thus it took her a moment to realize what she’s been asked. “Oh. Not really, I just woke up a few minutes ago. My head feels heavy and my body aches.” Only realizing just now how much of a mess she feels.
“I see. That doesn’t sound so bad.” The doctor said as she walked closer to Chorong’s bedside. “However, just to be sure, I need you to stay and rest a bit more. I’m going to send you food in a while; all you’ve been getting is this IV since you were brought here the other day.” she said as she flashed another smile, adjusting the flow of the saline solution.
The other day? I’ve been out for that long? And I was brought here? She thought for a while as she racked her brain for even a tinge of memory. Nothing. “Do you happen to know who brought me here?” she reluctantly asked. “And why?”
“About that,” She shifted her gaze and sighed, wondering how to explain to the patient what happened. “my bestfriend found you unconscious in the park and brought you here. We couldn’t find any information about you since you didn’t seem to have any identification on you.” With dread, she asked, “Can you remember anything? Your name, perhaps?”
Chorong was starting to become more confused. “I-I’m Chorong. Park Chorong.” She was getting frustrated as she still couldn’t remember how she ended up at the park, then eventually here.
Eunji saw Chorong’s furrowed brows and figured she must be trying so hard to regain her memory. “Don’t strain yourself too hard, Chorong-ssi. I’m sure the memory will resurface.” She held Chorong’s hand and gave it a light squeeze. “The important thing is you’re awake, and you remember who you are.”
After a few more adjustments and routine checks, Eunji finally tucked her stethoscope in her coat. “Everything seems to be normal.” She gave another warm smile. “But you still need some rest. I’ll check on you again in a few hours.”
“Oh. Thank you, Eunji-ssi.” Chorong gave a weary smile as the doctor left the room.
Eottoke. What did you get yourself into this time, Chorong? She thought to herself in frustration. A few minutes and a blinding headache later, she gave up on trying to figure out what the hell happened and fell asleep.
Eunji’s phone buzzed in her pocket after she closed the door on Chorong’s room. “Ne?”
“How is she?”
“She’s awake. I got her name but she couldn’t remember what happened.”
“Oh? What’s her name?”
“Park Chorong. She seems really confused right now, come see her as soon as you can.”
“Alright, I’m on my way. Thanks, Eunji.”
The doctor pinched her nose bridge as she hung up the phone. Bomi-yah, why do you always end up saving strangers?
“Come back to me, please…”
There’s that voice again; this time, it sounds familiar. It took her a while to realize that it was her fiancé, Changsub, who was calling out to her. She struggled to open her eyes, wanting to see if her family finally came for her. When she managed to open them, she saw that the room was still the same except for the food tray on her bedside table. No one’s here yet? Aren’t they worried about me? I’ve been here for a few days now.
Just then, the doorknob twitched again. With a hopeful heart, she expected her parents to come. However, much to her dismay, it was yet another stranger.
“M-may I help you?” Chorong croaked cautiously.
“O-oh. I’m sorry, I’m Yoon Bomi. I was the one who brought you here.” She grinned shyly but stayed by the door. “May I come in?”
“Ah, yes. Please do. I’m Park Chorong. Thanks for-” She felt herself blush and sat down rather quickly which made her dizzy.
Bomi rushed to her and helped her sit comfortably as she held her steady. “You shouldn’t make sudden movements like that.”
“Oh. Y-yes. I’m sorry. Thank you again.” Chorong saw that Bomi’s hand was still on top of hers which made her cheeks feel like it was about to burst.
Noticing how Chorong suddenly turned red, Bomi realized
