you said forever, now i drive alone past your street.

loona oneshots.

It's easy to fall in love with someone, as Ha Sooyoung had learned.

Jung Jinsol was perfect in every way. Not only was she Sooyoung's girlfriend, she was her best friend. They understood each other in a way that nobody else could.

They met in high school, they'd been in the same school since they were kids but their paths only crossed during sports class when they were paired together for their similar abilities. That's how Jinsol joined their friendship group.

Then they got together during the last few months of school, and they were that couple that everyone was kind of grossed out by. They'd hold hands at any given chance and were always hugging and kissing.

"Hey! Get a room! You can't kiss in front of Yeojin, she's a child!" Kahei yelled as she covered Yeojin's, Haseul's younger sister, eyes.

"You're just jealous that Haseul doesn't kiss you in front of people." Sooyoung teased, leaving Kahei a flustered mess and Yeojin with some awkward questions.

They graduated from school together and went to college, conveniently the campus they chose was where most of their friends chose to go too.

However, that's also where Jungeun came into the picture.

Jungeun was a good friend at first. She was friendly and always knew how to joke at the right time and even brought some of her friends along. That's how they all met Jiwoo, Jungeun's childhood friend. Jiwoo was cute and noisy and everyone loved her.

It was like their friendship group was complete. All the pieces were there. But it was only a matter of time before cracks began to show.

It wasn't like Sooyoung to be jealous. She'd never doubt Jinsol at all. It was just that Jinsol was beginning to spend more time with Jungeun, and less time with Sooyoung. It was always "Oh sorry, I'm getting food with Jungeun. Let's do something later!" or ", I'm so sorry, I forgot. Me and Jungeun are meeting up. Maybe tomorrow we can do something though!" or another excuse involving Jungeun.

During their date nights, she'd be texting Jungeun, or she'd talk about her. Sooyoung didn't want to hate Jungeun, but why was she taking Jinsol away from her?

"I mean I don't see it personally." Haseul said before sipping her coffee as she sat with Sooyoung at the cafe on campus.

"Really? I just feel like Jinsol's never with me anymore. She's always with Jungeun." Sooyoung sighed. "I get us having other friends we're close to, but I'm not even like this with you, or Jiwoo."

"Did you tell Jinsol how you feel?" Haseul asked. "Maybe if you explained, she would understand."

"No... Maybe it would help." Sooyoung said, before looking out of the window and humming quietly. "I just don't wanna make things awkward. Jungeun's her best friend, I don't want her to feel like she has to stop seeing her, but I miss her."

"It's understandable. But I'm sure Jinsol will understand!" Haseul said with a smile. "Cheer up, Sooyoung. It'll be fine!"

It ended up being fine. At least for a little while.

The next day, Sooyoung talked to Jinsol about it in their dorm.

"So you want me to stop hanging around with Jungeun?" Jinsol asked.

Sooyoung shook her head. "No, it's not like that. I just... I miss you."

"But we live together, you see me every day." Jinsol said with a frown.

"Yeah, I see you in the morning before we go to class, then at night when you get back, and on date nights. But... I just want to see you more." Sooyoung said. "I'm glad you have a friend like Jungeun, I really am. I just want to see you more."

Jinsol paused for a moment. "Alright, then I'll try to be around more for you. I'm sorry you felt like that."

Just then, Jinsol's phone buzzed. She took it out and pouted.

"Who is it?" Sooyoung asked.

"Jungeun... But it can wait." Jinsol said as she shoved it back into her pocket.

They spent the rest of the day cuddling on the couch watching their favourite movies.

And in that moment, it felt like things were back to normal.

Until it wasn't normal, and Sooyoung was left alone. Ditched on date nights. Jinsol would rather be with Jungeun. It was always "Jungeun needs me for a project", or "Jungeun's upset, I need to go over".

Sooyoung really didn't know what to do next. She'd already talked to Haseul about it. Kahei would only agree with Haseul. Jiwoo would always just try to do things to cheer Sooyoung up, which she appreciated, but it wasn't the same as being with Jinsol. Hyunjin would laugh at her misery. Heejin would tell her to stop being weird. Hyejoo, her younger sister, would tell her to stop being dramatic.

So Sooyoung was stuck. She just had to hold onto the moments she had with Jinsol, those few minutes. The cuddling in bed at night, the eating breakfast together before class.

It hurt, but she loved Jinsol, so she'd hold onto the little time she could get with her.

But even after time, Jinsol would start having sleepovers at Jungeun and Jiwoo's dorm. Some days she wouldn't even see Jinsol. But she just accepted it and kept going.

That was until one day though.

There was a knock on the door. Sooyoung paused the tv show she was watching and got up to answer and it was Jiwoo.

"Sooyoungie! Hi! I brought you some snacks and some drinks! Your favourites!" Jiwoo squeaked happily.

"Hey Jiwoo. You didn't have to." Sooyoung said with a smile as the smaller girl waddled in and put the snacks and drinks in the kitchen.

"Oh, I wanted to!" Jiwoo chirped before she took Sooyoung's hand and they sat down on the couch together.

"Have you seen this show before?" Sooyoung asked.

Jiwoo nodded. "Me and Jungeun watched it before! I promise not to spoil it for you."

So they watched a little bit of the show, sitting there in silence. The episode ended and as Sooyoung reached for the remote to go to the next episode, Jiwoo took the remote and turned the tv off.

"What are you doing?" Sooyoung frowned.

"I didn't come here just to deliver snacks." Jiwoo said, her usually bright demeanour changing to a serious one. "It's about Jinsol and Jungeun."

"What is it, Jiwoo?" Sooyoung asked, already starting to feel the dread filling her body.

"Sooyoung..." Jiwoo sighed. "I'm really sorry to tell you this, but... Jinsol's planning to break up with you. She loves Jungeun."

And that's when her worst suspicions were confirmed.

Jiwoo explained the conversations she'd heard between the two. The way Jinsol would break up with Sooyoung, the things they wanted to do together, the apartment they wanted to move into, the pets they'd get.

That was what Jinsol should've been doing with Sooyoung.

At the end of it, Sooyoung just felt empty.

"I'm not going to leave you like this, okay? I'm gonna sleep over here tonight. You shouldn't be sad all by yourself." Jiwoo said quietly, squeezing Sooyoung's hand.

The next day, Sooyoung got the text. The dreaded break up text. And Jiwoo held her through it all as she cried. Jiwoo helped her pack Jinsol's things, and when Sooyoung got too upset, Jiwoo sat her down on the couch, put a movie on for her, then continued packing Jinsol's things.

Sooyoung didn't see Jinsol picking her things up. Jiwoo had moved all her things into the hallway so she didn't even have to come into the dorm. She only knew it was done when Jiwoo came into her bedroom with a drink.

"Hey! I got this for you. You haven't had anything to drink today." Jiwoo said with a big smile and put the drink on the bedside table. "You'll be okay Sooyoung. I promise!"

But Sooyoung didn't feel okay. Jinsol didn't love her. Jinsol was gone. And she was going to have to live with that.

The first few weeks were painful. She would see the two across campus holding hands and laughing. Or they'd be in the cafe sharing cakes and drinks. The worst was when they would kiss and Sooyoung would see it. She couldn't even stand it. She would instantly cancel all her plans to run to her dorm to cry.

But Jiwoo would be there every time. She'd come when Sooyoung needed someone. She'd hold Sooyoung whilst she cried. She would hold onto Sooyoung's hand and pull her in another direction if they saw the two in public. She'd even moved into Sooyoung's dorm, wanting to be there for her friend as much as she could.

Sooyoung didn't know this, but Jiwoo had a huge crush on Sooyoung. But Jiwoo wasn't about to let that get in the way. Sooyoung was her friend and needed her. Jiwoo would be there to help her feel better.

The monthversaries were painful. Sooyoung would avoid seeing Jinsol completely on those days. Instead, she'd just drive around at night, she'd go to their favourite spots and just cry. Nobody was around, nobody could hear her in the car. She could let it all out. She could remember all the times Jinsol promised her forever in all those spots, only for her to be sitting alone in her car now.

It was so frustrating for Sooyoung. Jinsol seemed to be just fine, but here Sooyoung was. She was destroyed. She really thought Jinsol was the one. They'd even talked about getting married in the future. They had it all planned out. But it was for nothing.

Eventually, it got easier. It was only a dull ache when she saw Jinsol with Jungeun. She spent more time with Jiwoo and her other friends too. She even met new friends, she just needed to fill that void where Jinsol should've been. Special dates still hurt when she thought about them, but she was getting on with life. She could even tolerate Jinsol and Jungeun in their friendship group chat. She would never talk to them, but she'd read everything. They'd gotten their puppy together and their apartment, they were having a great time. Sooyoung could only feel some kind of bittersweet sadness. It was over. She still missed Jinsol, but it was over. Done. Finished.

But she'd still drive around at night, sometimes even driving by Jinsol's new apartment, all by herself, wondering what it'd be like if it was her instead of Jungeun.

It stung. It hurt so much. But she had to accept it.

'Cause you said forever, now I drive alone past your street.

Chapter 8: Soooooo I thought it was a great idea to read chapter 2 and then jump to chapter 8 which clearly wasn't if I'm crying my eyes out. I cried a little towards the end of chap 2 and now I'm sobbing at chap 8... Anyway, thank you for making me cry :') jk this was amazing even if it's sad and some parts of chap 8 was a bit awkward to me.
