#006: butterflies

“but i’m completely okay now.”

“.” Jaehyun had almost tripped as he went flying through the window and into the building. He was going to seriously beat the guy up for shooting Sejeong, but seeing the girl still tethered to the chair, her head hanging lamely to the side, had effectively made his heart drop down to his stomach.

“Sejeong, seriously, oh my god.” He definitely knew how gunshot wounds looked and worked, but looking down at her bloody shoulder was perhaps one of the top five things he found truly distressing. Jaehyun fumbled with the ropes at her feet, before digging into his pocket for a Swiss army knife and slashing the zip ties that were binding her wrists. Gripping the girl gently from behind her shoulders, he settled her down gently onto the bloody cement, before ripping the bandana he had around his face and pressing it against her wound.

The ringing in his ears were effective in blocking out the incessant wailing of the man, and he was this close to just shooting him in the head.

“B.I..H., send a code red to HQ. We need immediate back-up and a clean-up squad at Location 2.” Jaehyun couldn’t help the quiver in his voice as he hastily spoke into the smartwatch Daniel had given to him before the mission. Sejeong’s blood was quickly soaking through the bandana and into his right palm.

Swivelling his head around in an attempt to distract himself before back-up was to arrive, his eyes softened when they landed on the little boy at the other end of the room, seeing the relief yet fright on his features.

“You’re going to be okay, little buddy.”

Wonwoo had almost crashed the car when B.I..H.’s voice echoed throughout the vehicle. “Greetings agents. Agent Just Cause has called for a code red in Location 2. Back up is urgently needed.” The car came to a screeching halt at the side of the road, before Wonwoo turned to look at Daniel and Sehun with panicked eyes. “Location 2? What does he mean by code red?!”

Daniel put a hand on Wonwoo’s shoulder before whipping out his laptop and typing furiously. “I can access the Bee from here and see what’s up. Just give me a sec.” The air was tense and the sound of Daniel’s furious typing was the only thing that filled the small space. Sehun didn’t want to think that the worst had happened, but couldn’t help feel a little distraught as he his lips over and over again.

With a final push of the enter button, Daniel mumbled a ‘got it’ before propping the laptop on the dashboard. The three crowed around the monitor as it flashed to life, showing three figures on the screen. “I can’t control the Bee here, but,” Daniel reached forward and swiped his touchpad, zooming into the far corner of the screen. “I think that’s them.” He muttered quietly, his hand falling down to his lap and eyes widening.

It was rather blurry, and the pixels were too large, but Sejeong’s limp body and the pool of crimson beneath her was enough for Sehun to yell a “floor it!” and Wonwoo almost crashing the car into an oncoming vehicle as they reversed from the side of the walkway in record timing.

Sehun hadn’t even waited for the vehicle to come to a proper stop, and was already bounding towards the abandoned building and throwing the large metal doors aside. It was rather stupid of him, he knew, to not have any weapon on him and just rush head-on into unchartered territory, but there was only one person on his mind.

Jaehyun’s relief was indescribable as he saw a frantic Sehun bounding into the room. Sehun however, had felt his entire stomach drop as he rushed over to where Jaehyun was, looking helplessly at the girl before him.

“What the , Sehun, since when were you so reck- .” Wonwoo rushed towards the other two guys with a first-aid box in hand, whilst Daniel scrambled to the boy at the other side of the room.

“I need you to administer a tranquilliser, just in case she goes into shock.” Jaehyun panted as Wonwoo fumbled around the first-aid box and carelessly pulled on a pair of latex gloves. Sehun could only watch helplessly as he knelt next to the unconscious girl. He wanted so badly to just hold her in his arms, but wasn’t sure it was a very good idea especially with the bullet still lodged deeply in her shoulder.

He did however, know what do with the dickhead that was still rolling around on the cement, wailing his guts out. Sehun gritted his teeth and got up off his knees as he pulled the tie loose from around his neck. Stooping low and giving the man a menacing glare, Sehun gave him a hard kick to the gut before kneeling down and tying the tie around the top of his thigh. He knew that the man deserved nothing but death, but it would’ve been extremely stupid of him to just shoot the guy dead on the spot. Sehun flipped the male off before striding back towards the rest.

The little boy was wrapped securely around Daniel, with the latter rubbing soothing circles on the boy’s back as he gazed down worriedly at the girl.

“I think we’re ready to evacuate. Daniel, you bring the boy back to HQ and contact his mother. Sehun, you bring Sejeong to HQ’s hospital. Jaehyun and I will stay here until the clean-up arrives.” Wonwoo blew out a heavy breath as he removed the bloodied gloves from his hands.

Sehun nodded and gulped before stopping down slowly and bringing the girl into his arms. He didn’t mind the blood that was soaking into the expensive blazer he was wearing, and firmly held the girl in arms before striding quickly out the warehouse and into the Bugatti that Jaehyun had driven here.

Stepping on it, Sehun tore out of the woods, glancing back every five seconds until they made it back to HQ.

Sehun rubbed his face tiredly as he sunk deeper into the soft couch. The white shirt he was wearing was rolled up to his elbows, a lareg patch of dried blood decorating his right chest.

He closed his eyes and pinched the flesh between his eyes as Momo’s sobs continued to fill the room. It had been a good two hours since he had arrived to HQ with Sejeong, where the doctors had safely removed the bullet and patched her up. The only thing they had to do was wait for the anaesthesia to wear off and she would be completely in the clear, but from the amount of tears Momo had shed, you’d think Sejeong
