Forbidden love is often the sweetest and most painful. It’s like holding a golden flame in your hand and watching it burn your flesh; you know you shouldn’t, but you can’t resist.

Unrequited love is another matter entirely. It’s the physical ache that follows, long after you’ve tried dousing the fire and applying the ointments. It just won’t leave. Eventually you think, just another day. I can handle that. Afterwards, I’ll finally be free.

It never works out that way. You stay calmly in the shadow and watch the one you love be with others. You can’t ever tell them; this thought tortures you from morning until evening as you silently listen to their breathing and watch the lips you wish you could kiss.

Until when was it worth living with this pain?
