“Chanyeol just talk to me!” yelled Baekhyun to the closed door

“There’s nothing to talk about I saw everything!” Chanyeol said. He opened the door, face stained with tear streaks. “It’s over.” he said and slammed the door yet again. And that was the last thing said as their relationship shattered to pieces

Chanyeol never knew that heartbreak would be this hard, he had heard rumours about his boyfriend, well now ex-boyfriend, seeing someone else while they were still together but he didn't want to believe those people because he trusted Baekhyun. Trusted. Past tense.

Now all he wanted to do was forget about him. The heartbreak broke his very being at first but after a while, after seeing the wreck he had become and how his friends and family treated him with pity he decided to change. Change can be scary sometimes but he knew that he needed this. He needed to be strong, be better. He owed himself that much.

Months past, friends and family helped him and he was grateful to those who always stood by his side. He cleared his mind and slowly forgot about Baekhyun and all the pain he caused.

He focused more on work and fitness. He practiced playing every instrument he could get his hands on, he wrote and produced and any anger left over was channeled onto a punching bag at the gym. He got over Baekhyun and found someone new. Everything was going great until one day he saw a familiar face walking towards him in the park.

“Chanyeol is that you?” said a familiar voice, Chanyeol froze but he needed to face the person who hurt him the most

“Hey Baekhyun” said Chanyeol

“It's been awhile..wow”

Chanyeol thought that he would feel that old awful feeling of heartbreak but he surprised himself when he didnt feel anything towards his ex. He was surprised that he had way better control of his emotions than he thought. In fact, he felt fine. He was over the person who caused him pain in the past

“You look great, have you been working out?”

“Yeah uh...thanks” he said shyly as their conversation got steered into old stories and memories. They laughed. Chanyeol laughed with Baekhyun, something he thought wouldn't even be possible after what he went through with the guy. After a story of their friend getting pranked by them, their laughter died down there was an uncomfortable silence. Their banter and stories made both remember the good times when they were together. Baekhyun was the first to break the silence

“It's been great seeing you, I missed...this you know?” said Baekhyun

“Yeah it's been nice catching up”

“Yeah…” Baekhyun looked as if he was trying to muster something out, as if he was building the courage to say something and finally breathed out “...hey..so do you maybe want to get coffee someti-”

“Hey babe”

“Hey!” said Chanyeol slightly surprised. Times past so quickly and he was startled by the sudden appearance of who he was waiting for in the first place for their date.

Chanyeol's boyfriend seemed to notice Baekhyun after hugging Chanyeol

“Oh, sorry was I interrupting something?” he said

“Um...no it’s was nothing important” said Baekhyun while lowering his gaze

Chanyeol boyfriend stared at him and if to say something more. Chanyeol got the message.

“Sorry how rude of me. Babe this is Baekhyun. Baekhyun this is my boyfriend”

Chanyeol's boyfriend extended his hand “Nice to meet you”

Baekhyun shook his hand “Likewise”

Chanyeol noticed something when he looked at Baekhyun. If he didn't know any better he would say that Baekhyun looked almost...defeated. Chanyeols thoughts got interrupted by his bf.

“Babe I'm sorry I’m late and sorry for interrupting your chat but if we want to see the movie on time we have to go”

“Right, sorry Baekhyun do you mind?...”

“Huh...oh um...no of course go ahead you two. You don't want to be late right” he said letting out a timid laugh as he subtly avoided eye contact. Chanyeol noticed his behavior and he almost thought that he saw regret in Baekhyun's eyes, almost. After all the relationship ended because of the shorter guy, it must have been his imagination right?

“Are you sure? And hey, weren't you gonna ask me something? Chanyeol said as he recalled what the guy said right before they interrupted

“What? Uh..no, forget about that it was nothing” he exhaled while forcing a smile “Have fun on your date”

“Alright” Chanyeol said take his boyfriend's hand in his “See you around”

“Yeah” said Baekhyun. With that Chanyeol left hand in hand with his bf. As Baekhyun starred at their backs he couldn't help but wonder what could have been if he hadn't ruined their relationship

“See you around…”
