Oh! My winter love

Description

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Ji Eun you say? Not a very typical Korean name? Well, you only know her name, not her story. Her life could be described as nothing but plain, boring and that’s pretty much it. She had no such thing as a love interest, and rarely any friends to make her feel accompanied. Her bubbly nature was often hid inside her, expressing insecurity and low self esteem. That was until she moved to a new school, started a new life, and realised that her world had just turned 180 degrees.

The lovely, new neighbour of Ji Eun. He didn’t seem like the typical, popular boy that you would find at any school, and he also slowly became Ji Eun’s love interest. Despite his popularity, he didn’t throw people around with power, nor did he act like a snobby group leader. In fact, the only thing he threw were air hearts, and show enough aegyo to hurt a girl’s heart.

A typical heart throb. Rich boy Kim Jonghyun was known for making the girls surrounding him swoon since middle school began, was famous for his large, puppy-like eyes and reluctant smile. Once again, he was the most popular boy in school. Money, power, looks. He had everything that anyone would ever wish for. Despite the fact that Ji Eun hated his guts, he remains deeply in love with her.

One of the people who were, and would ever be Ji Eun’s friend. Jiyeon had a mysterious background and never mentioned of her family and her past. Her loud, Confident nature was only shown to very few people and enjoyed the more quirky and fun activities such as dancing and singing.

Foreword

I was never the romantic. Never did I receive a rose for Valentine’s Day, nor have a boy make me feel loved. Since I was a young girl, there was no such thing as true love, destiny or fate in my world, and it had stayed that way ever since. I’d once believe in everything, the world where everyone had their place, and knew that there would be someone out there for them, waiting for the right moment to arrive and be welcomed into each other’s lives. That innocent, pure heart of mine had left the day I saw my parents fight for the first time.

It was mid-winter, and the roads were covered with a thick layer of fluffy, white snow. Staring out the window lacked feeling, but I feared leaving my room and entering the real world. I could hear my parents bickering at each other, cussing so very often, and disagreeing at every word that escaped one another’s mouth. This was the first time I’ve heard such things in my house, my family had lived at peace. Until this day, at least. I lied back down, sighing.

All of a sudden, there was silence. Not a single thing could be heard in the house, except for my constant breathing. For some unknown reason, I felt scared for the first time – the bickering had stopped. And that was when my blood ran cold, and I rushed out of my room, racing for the stairs. There was the loud,  sound – the sound of a door getting slammed, and that was also the moment I saw my dad walk out the door on me, my mum, and my world.
