Noa was sure that the whole “city within a city” concept was cliché, but she couldn’t think of any other phase to describe AIASF.
She had never actually stepped foot on AIASF’s campus over her high school career, but she had seen pictures and had heard how amazing it was from people whose older siblings and relatives had gone before them. It was for these reasons, plus the fact that all of their academic departments seemed to be world renowned, that Noa had decided to add AIAS and AIASF to her list of colleges to apply to; she could have sent applications to all of AIAS’s campuses across the country, but she wanted to stay in California. At the time, she had likened it to playing the lottery; she hadn’t expected to win, but it didn’t hurt to play, just for fun. Somehow, though, she had won the golden ticket, and had gotten an academic scholarship, and her life in the city within a city began.
She could only feel gratitude as she made her way through AIASF’s freshman orientation. There was a whole culture specific to this campus, because of the on-campus living requirement for undergraduates, and she needed this briefing even more so than at a regular university. She needed to know as many ins and outs as she could before moving week started, to make her new life there as easy as possible.
The first half of the orientation involved the presentation of the different clubs and houses and the general policies of the college, before everyone separated for an intermission; they were given an hour to eat, roam and talk amongst themselves, as well as find out more about the clubs, if they so desired; the second half of the orientation would consist of them being divided into their houses and touring the buildin
