It wasn’t difficult to get a job at AIASF.
Many students took advantage of the fact that their lives were essentially paid for on campus, what with housing being provided, and a meal plan and random living expenses generously covered by the scholarships given to them. Life at AIASF was financially easy, and so there was no point in burdening oneself with a job; or, at least, this was how most students thought. Noa was ecstatic to be called in for a job interview at the Safeway on campus just a few days after she applied for a job there, and was overjoyed to get the job afterwards; she didn’t like not working, after having had a job for four years already.
Within two weeks of her applying for a job she was reporting to Safeway for her very first day of training, already wearing black work pants, her hair pinned down against her head in flat twists. She could tell that her working environment would be laidback and friendly just by interacting with the managers, who talked freely and laughed with each other and her as well; she was given a work shirt, a khaki colored button up, an apron and a nametag, and her first day truly began. She spent the first hour of her shift in the manager’s office, binging on training videos, but then it was time to get out on the floor and gain experience; she was paired up with Paige, a girl who had been working for Safeway for a couple of years, and was assigned to be her shadow for the day, to do as she did. Paige was giving her a tour, and introducing her to more people as they went; Noa glanced down the aisle randomly as they passed them, and almost stopped in her tracks as she looked down the snack aisle.
It was the from before, dressed in the same outfit as the last time, an outfit frighteningly identical to hers, though his shirt was tucked in this time around. His hard gaze was intent on the task of stocking variety boxes of chips on the shelves, and Noa almost quit on the spot. He works here?! She fumed to herself internally as she followed behind Paige, struggling to focus at least partially on what she was saying.
