Blue Waves

The ticking of the clock echoes around the room. The silence feels deafening, it was suffocating her and she doesn't know what to do. She was staring blankly on the windowsill, sitting in the chairs of the dining table, her phone placed on it.

All her problems were piling up and she doesn't have a single clue on how to solve any of it. If ever, it was the opposite. She thinks of Jeongyeon, she thinks of this hotel, she thinks of her family and friends probably worrying about her which gets her to call them at the span of the moment.

Or not.

She shouldn't really, it was still breaking her, how Jeongyeon left her just like that after making false promises of some sort saying she'll stay and making Nayeon happy. But why is she doing the exact opposite of the things she just said? It doesn't help that here she is, sharing a room with a stranger someone she doesn't know, someone she doesn't have any idea. Because this was supposed to be hers and Jeongyeon's, not to that miss arrogant who thought she could have everything in the palm of her hand.

Another problem is that, Myoui Mina. A total pain in her head.

Nayeon might be belittling if she said she wanted to kick the girl, heck, she wanted to set this building on fire and just watched everyone in panic and chaos and leave Mina at the center, but no, Nayeon would never go that far.

She was just staring at her phone, remembering she doesn't have any clothes or anything. It doesn't help that she's still wearing that girl's clothes. She also doesn't want to go back to Seoul, there's too many memories of Jeongyeon that she couldn't help but grit her teeth just at the mention of her (ex?) fiancé.

She called her parents, and after hearing her mother's voice, Nayeon felt a little guilty, she thought she could make her mother happy by making her dream come true with Nayeon having her own family but once again, she believed. She told her she was fine and doesn't have to worry and said that she'll be away for a few days, weeks, even months, she doesn't really know, honestly.

As much as she tried to avoid it, Nayeon couldn't. So she asked.

"Have you... Have you found her? D-Did you you know why she ran away? Is she even back already?" She feels the tears starts sprawling her face again, wetting her cheeks again, making her eyes go red again. It wasn't Nayeon's fault for loving Jeongyeon too much, she trusted the girl, she believed in her words and what makes her angrier with herself is that she actually believed. Nayeon was only fooling herself.

Yes, they may not be the perfect couple but she thought they could go through this together.

She was wrong.

"Nayeon? Please come back home, please. We're all worried about you. I—"

"You haven't answered my question." Nayeon butted in, she hugged her knees, encircling her free arm around it and tries to muffle the cries she's been holding on.

"Nayeon—"

"Mom, please. I need to know."

"Not... She's not yet here."

"That's all I needed to hear, don't worry about me, I'm fine I just needed time, and please do what I told you. I can't keep wearing these clothes forever."

Nayeon shut her phone off, successfully hiding her tears and wipes them off with the sleeve of Mina's shirt, that's where she realizes how good it actually smells. The hint of vanilla and jasmine comforted her for a moment that she found the tiniest reason not to loathe the woman at all.

Speaking of Mina, finally she emerged from the bathroom. A simple white t-shirt and short shorts, a towel still wrapped around her wet hair, and Nayeon somehow finds herself in a daze.

Once she finds her staring, Mina immediately glared at her, Nayeon did as well. The two went on the battle to who blinks first.

Mina walks nearer and Nayeon is obviously taken aback so she unknowingly blinks, accepting her lost. She bowed her head and shook it in annoyance. Mina decided to sit in front of Nayeon, the glass table between them, and Nayeon speaks first.

"You took so long. What the heck did you even do in there?"

"I was talking to my friend, and why are you even curious? You have other thoughts in your mind didn't you?"

Nayeon's face flushed and Mina grins at the sight, she smiles lopsided and untangles the towel in her hair to dry it. "Whoa Nayeon, take it slow here, I just met you and suddenly you're thinking of thoughts that are surely inappropriate. Doesn’t mean that we slept together that we’re close at that point now."

"I-I am not! Don't think too highly of yourself. You almost took an hour bathing, I almost thought you fell asleep, and how could you talk to your friend inside the bathroom, are you crazy?" Nayeon shakes her hands, making unreadable gestures as she defends herself.

"I believe there was this gadget that was invented for communicating to people around the world and just in case you didn't know. It's called the phone." Mina shakes her phone in front of Nayeon and she could only glare at her.

A moment of silence emerged between the two, and after thinking for minutes. Mina decided to speak up.

"You know, we could never ignore this and even if we try to we can't. We need to fix this since basically both of us paid for my room."

"MY room." Nayeon butted in, making sure to emphasize what is on her mind.

"Okay, okay. Our room."

"MINE."

"No way, it's mine too."

"Okay fine."

"Anyway, as I was saying, we should get along to terms since the hotel is packed and it's holidays and I really have nowhere to go, I don't know about you. You're a local here but you seem to be lost." Mina crosses her arms, seems trying to make Nayeon agree with what she's saying. Nayeon just nods, contemplating every word the other says.

"I'm not lost. I'm just unfamiliar with these places but I know where I'm going. It was always Jeong...." Nayeon stops at the realization, everything reminded her of Jeongyeon again and it hurts.

Mina felt the tension and almost wanted to ask but it isn't her right and she has no right, and honestly, she doesn't care. They're strangers just sharing one roof, nothing more than that.

"See, I get it. Let's just get along for the sake of the room, we need each other's help anyways. And yeah, I forgot, I won't be staying here long so you can have the room all you want after I'm gone." Mina said, shifting in her position now with a leg propped up and the other down on the floor.

Nayeon stood up, rolling her eyes at Mina. Mina could only raise a brow, in disbelief.

"I'm trying to fix our situation here and you really just won't cooperate! This is stressing me really, you appearing out of nowhere and your name and that Jeong—"

"Don't even mention her name, we're done here. Let's just get along. I won't be staying here for long as well. Just a bit to clear my mind." Nayeon says, something in her tone cold and distant, and Mina feels bad for a second.

Pfft. Mina? Feeling bad? There’s no way.

"Okay, fine. That's what you want then." Mina was about to go but Nayeon extended her hand, and it seems that she wants a handshake.

Mina could only raise her brow at this, but she gives in anyway.

"I hope after this our intentions would be good and clear." Nayeon said.

Before Mina could reach Nayeon's hand, Mina retracted then crosses her arms. "Clear, but I don't want to touch your hand, alright. Germs and whatnot. I just took a bath."

"Germs are everywhere! I can't belie—"

Before Nayeon could even finish whatever she's going to say, Mina went back to her room and slammed the door, leaving a bewildered Nayeon at the table.

"What a conceited woman! Urgh!" She unknowingly stomps her feet of the floor. She couldn't believe this, just because someone rejected her handshake that she's acting like a kid.

Nayeon's whining didn't take too long to shift, suddenly, now that she's alone and silence was all she could hear, she stares off in space for a minute, somehow guilt was waving unto her yet she still doesn't acknowledge its presence. She goes over to sit on the couch, too soft, and for some reason she plans to steal it when she gets back home.

"Jeongyeon would think of that..." she sighs.

Nayeon couldn't understand why she did that. Out of all people, Jeongyeon was the one going to betray her. She doesn't even know if she could listen to her explanations anymore if she would explain. It hurts too much that even thinking of her rips Nayeon apart.

Nayeon tried calling her, but to no avail, it all went down to voicemail. She throws her phone away in frustration. She wants Jeongyeon here. She wants Jeongyeon right now.

"I'm sorry Tzuyu. I can't calm down knowing where Jeongyeon unnie is. I'm damn worried about Nayeon unnie, god I don't know what's happening." Dahyun frowned, out of worry. She'd been anxious all day and she couldn't help but walk around.

She really didn't know what went wrong.

"Hey," Tzuyu leans closer, massaging Dahyun's head, trying to calm her down. "It's going to be fine. Nayeon is smart, sometimes."

Dahyun finally smiled a little and Tzuyu felt relieved about that. "Tzu..."

"I know! I know. I'm just trying to lift your spirits up. Nayeon is smart. I know you treat Nayeon like your sister but she will be fine, just trust her."

Tzuyu and Dahyun then went to the living room, only to see a relieved look on Nayeon's mother.

"She called me. She's fine. She told me not to worry but I can't help it." Mother Im kept walking back and forth until Dahyun stopped her and calmed her down.

"S-she's in that hotel. Where Jeongyeon and Nayeon was supposed to..." she trailed off then sadness took over her features.

"Nayeon told me she'd be staying there for a while. She doesn't want to return yet. She couldn't handle it." Mother Im sighed.

Dahyun and Jihyo then looked at each other.

"I'll go pack her bags for a while. Tzuyu could you bring it for her? She really needs space, and you're the one we could count on." Jihyo said to them.

Tzuyu only nodded, then Dahyun held her hand, "I'm coming with you."

"Do you think I should sue the hotel?" Mina asked, a hand in her waist while walking around her room.

"Oh god Mina no. Your father's going to get a lot of trouble again."

Mina scoffed, "Isn't that what he wants? Fame? For the people to know him? Enjoying his riches with his sons and daughters?"

"Mina, you know that's not what I meant." Momo says.

"Okay, I don't want to talk about him anyways. How is mom?"

"She's fine, Mina. Just a little worried about you."

Mina smiled, "Good to know about that. Tell her not to worry too much”

"Do you want me to book you to a new hotel? If you want? You told me earlier that woman is the epitome of annoyance." Momo almost snorts. And that didn't go missed by Mina.

"You're lucky you're an ocean away I can't kick you right now but… no need to," Mina turned to the door, opened it a little then glance around the almost empty living room.

“No need to?”

“Yep. I’ve think about it and yeah, she’s a pain in the , a loud mouth, a walking microphone, a portable speaker, and she’s really easy to annoy but I think…”

“You think what?”

"I think..."

"You think?" Momo asks, obviously impatient with the way Mina is acting. Leaving her words hanging.

Mina sat at the chair across where Nayeon is peacefully sleeping, hugging her knees and Mina could see she's shaking from the cold. Mina wanted to laugh but she's damn afraid that Nayeon will wake up and her roaring voice will get through Mina's ears again. (She couldn't believe that there will be a time when the word peaceful and Nayeon matches well.)

It became really quiet when she fell asleep, what a miracle.

"I think it isn't that bad to have a roommate, after all."
