Silver Wings (often abbreviated as S-Wings), is one of the best-selling duos in Korean history.
It all began on a sunny summer day in 1994 when its members Eun Jiwon and Kang Sunghoon met for the first time. They were both studying abroad in Hawaii and decided to live together because of their shared love for music. For two years they sang and made music together, performing mostly at clubs where Jiwon worked part-time as a DJ. It was during one of these performances they were noticed by the vice-president of Daesung Entertainment who was on vacation. He immediately saw their incredible talent and in 1996 the duo returned to Korea to prepare for their debut as singers.
They made their official debut as Silver Wings in 1997 and their self-titled debut album was released with little fanfare, but they started gaining more recognition with their second single “Ohana”. The song was loved for giving hope to the people during the dark times of the IMF crisis.
