Jimin had finally recognized the other boy. He had introduced himself as Jin before he ran to grab him an extra uniform from his locker (and joked about how they might be too big for Jimin due to the height difference between them). But he had already known that - just not in the way he would have normally expected. Kim Seokjin was a student who suddenly went missing one day and was never heard from again. That's why he looked so familiar, there was a small memorial set up for him near the student council office. No one had the heart to take it down, even sixty years after the incident. Sure, it had gotten smaller over the years, (to Jimin’s recollection, it had been nothing more than a framed photo with some fake flowers pinned around it) but none of the facility could bring themselves to take it down after seeing the bright smile on the boy's face. It didn't matter if he was an old man, or if the worst had truly happened, he was simply known around the school as the boy who disappeared. And yet, he was sitting across from him in the cafeteria.

There were only three decent explanations that Jimin could come up with, and even then, each one was more far-fetched than the last. The first was that his friend, V, was having fun at his expense. He had a knack for pulling pranks, but this one would have to of been the most elaborate one yet. Jimin didn't recognize a single person, with the exception of Jin. Not even the teachers looked familiar.

The second explanation he thought of, was that when he had hit his head, he died and somehow managed to join the ghosts of the school. This thought had bummed him out because not only did he not want to die, but he definitely did not want to be stuck in the school for the rest of his undead life. But, it did explain how he could see Jin. Though the boy seemed to be a perfectly normal, living, breathing person, and even as Jimin thought about this, Jin animatedly spoke to the person beside him. Jimin looked down at his arm and pinched himself, he could still feel the pain, so he knew he wasn't dreaming, and he hoped that meant he wasn't dead either.

The third was, by far, the most ridiculous excuse he could come up with, but somehow it also seemed to make the most sense to him. And that was that maybe the time machine prop was a little too real, and he ended up actually traveling to the past. Even just the thought sent shivers down his spine. He kept reminding himself that there was no way that could have really been the case, time travel was not possible. And yet...

Jimin followed Jin around the whole day, watching him interact with friends and staff. He told everyone that Jimin was a prospective student who was checking out the school to see if he'd like it (though Jimin had told him numerous times that he was already a student here).

"Do you know how to get home from here?” Jin asked after the final bell of the day rang. Concern was etched on his features and Jimin couldn’t help but think that the other boy was a lot more handsome in person than he was in the photos posted around school.

"Of course I know my way home, that’s not really what I’m worried about...” Jimin trailed off as he got lost in thought. Jimin knew he was about to have a moment of truth. His house hadn’t been built until the 1970s, so if he walked home from here and his home wasn’t built, then he would know he had
