Hyesun's Return (Soojin POV)

1000 DAYS

I woke up this morning to movement on my bed. What was that?  Again there was movement. What the...

Opening my eyes slowly, I found my gumiho friend hovering over me. I had to cover my mouth before screaming. The last thing I wanted to do was wake up Daesung and Seungri. The first thing they would do after hearing me scream is run into my room with baseball bats or else, whatever sharp object was at their convenience. Jiyong smirked. "What are you doing?! What if we get caught?" I whispered.

Jiyong laughed. "Is getting caught really all you're worried about? Is it not the fact that I am on your bed?"

"Y-yes. I mean no. I mean...." What DO I mean? I panicked. This made Jiyong laugh even more.

"You're so cute." He smiled playfully as he said this.

"Get off of me, gumiho." The words slipped out of my mouth without a thought. Jiyong's playful eyes turned into a glare, angered either by me telling him to get off of me, or because I called him gumiho rather than his name. "I'm sorry, Jiyong," I said, feeling truly apologetic. He didn't respond. "Are you ready to go my family's museum?" No response once again. "We can go after closing so it will be just the two of us," I persuaded.

After hearing this, his eyes lit up. "Can we really?" he exclaimed.

"Yes, yes, I promise. Now keep it down before my brother and cousin wake up," I whispered in a reprimanding tone.

Jiyong nodded and hugged me, then kissed my cheek. "I cannot wait for our date," he smiled. I will dress in my best attire."

He was actually kind of cute when he spoke so formally. He sounded so proper and prince-like. "Don't be so formal," I teased. "Have you already forgotten how to speak like we do this day and age?"

He laughed. "I could never. I am a fast learner, my dear Soojin. In my time, I was a scholarly man. I simply enjoy speaking as a gentleman would."

"I'd hope you wouldn't since you'll be here for a while," I said, feeling my face warm up.

"Your face is turning pink, my lady," he smirked. "Are you falling ill? Or are you finding my formal speech attractive?"

OH BOY. Now he'd done it. My face must have turned as bright red as a tomato. "I... I should go take a shower," I said, getting up.

"Oh, no you don't," he said, grabbing my wrist. It was like a scene out of a drama. Everything went in slow motion. Jiyong pulled me back onto the bed and into his chest. He then caressed my face with his hands, bringing my face up to his and slowly brought his lips down to mine. His lips were just as soft as yesterday. They were as soft and sweet as marshmallows. I couldn't help but get into the kiss.

Soon the soft peck became more intimate, like two lovers whom had waited their whole lives to be together. Suddenly, I felt dizzy and everything went black. "Jiyong, how I have missed you," said a woman's voice that was quite similar to mine. The voice sounded far away, and almost like an echo.

"Soojin?" This was a second voice, which sounded like Jiyong but also echoed.

"No, my love. It is I," came the woman's voice.

"Hyesun," came Jiyong's echoed voice again. "Is that you?"

"Yes, my love. I hope you have been well."

"My beloved Hyesun," Jiyong's voice began. "You can only imagine how much I have missed you over the past millennium. And yet I also harbor this hatred towards you. You betrayed me. You moved on without me. And yet... why are tears falling down my face?"

"I hope you can forgive me, Jiyong," Hyesun said. "I loved you so much. But we both knew our fate. I had no choice but to move on. I could not have possibly married a fox. Regardless if I had stayed by your side, I would have died and you would have been alone for centuries just as you have been."

"You knew I was a fox? All this time?" Jiyong sounded distressed.

"My darling, of course I did. Every time I saw a fox, I could sense your presence. Although I did not realize it for several months, I eventually came to see that the fox was the same each time, and that the fox was you. Why do you think I always left out food for you nearby our home?"

"If you knew, then why did you not tell me or even try to help me?" It seemed like Jiyong was about to cry. I wanted to reach out to him, but I was spiraling in darkness. I tried to call out to him. Reach out to him. But the darkness enveloped me.

"Jiyong, how much I wanted to tell you. And help you become human again. But I could not help you. Not even the witch who turned you into a fox could have saved you. But now, you have your chance. You have found my reincarnation. And much to my pleasure, you seem to be quite smitten with her. I moved on, and now is your chance. I must go. She is trying to regain control of her body."

"Hyesun," Jiyong cried. "Please, do not leave me just yet. I need you."

"I must go," she said.

"How can you just come and go like this? You are breaking my heart once again," Jiyong pleaded. I heard a small noise after that, which sounded like two lips parting after a deep kiss. My heart sank. What was going on? Did I faint? Was this whole thing a dream? Even the part where I woke up to find Jiyong hovering over me? Either way, it broke my heart to think about Jiyong kissing someone else. Dream or not.

"Take care of my reincarnation," Hyesun told him.

"No.... Hyesun, wait!"

"Goodbye, Jiyong," she said. Those were her final words. After that, the darkness slowly faded away. Jiyong faced me, tears in his eyes. His body was shaking.

"Jiyong..." I began. "So that was real?"

He nodded and looked down. The sight of him crying brought tears to my eyes. Without even a second thought, I reached over to Jiyong, enveloping him in a hug. The gumiho began to sob openly into my shoulder. My heart hurt. Of course I knew he loved her. However, it stung that he acted as if I was the girl of his dreams, and then Hyesun possesses my body and he doesn't want her to leave. I patted his back to comfort him, though I felt as though I needed some comfort too.

After about twenty minutes, Jiyong had calmed down. Slowly, he backed away from my hug and wiped his eyes. "I apologize," he said calmly. "I did not mean to make you feel as if I do not care for you. Truly, a part of my heart will always belong to Hyesun, but I have moved on.... to you. I want to focus on you and give you every ounce of my being. I want to date you. I want to love you. I want to become human and see where that brings us in the future. Your kind heart and beautiful smile have a hold on my heart, I can promise you that this is true. Since the moment I first laid eyes on you. I suppose that I reacted quite impulsively when Hyesun took over your body. I was simply shocked and all of my feelings came flooding back."

I couldn't help but blush, yet at the same time, I couldn't help but wonder if he had these strong feelings for me so quickly were because I remind him of his first love. And so I asked him. "Jiyong, your words truly make my heart flutter, but are you sure you don't just feel this way for me because I remind you of her?"

Jiyong's eyes became dark and sad. He sighed. "I truly do not blame you for asking such a question. But I must say that the answer is no, and I will prove it to you every chance I get."

Impulsively, I kissed his cheek. "Jiyong, how about we get ready for our date?"

"I'd love nothing more than that," he smiled.

"I would," I corrected. "You're supposed to talk like a gentleman, remember?"

Jiyong smiled sheepishly. "Right, of course."

Jiyong slipped away, back into my safe room and I prepared to shower.

"Soojin, is that you?" Seungri called.

"Yep. Sorry if I woke you up."

"No problem. Just turn down the volume next time you watch TV so early in the morning," he said.

I chuckled. Luckily, I didn't have to come up with an excuse myself. "No problem. Love you, dongsaeng."

"Love you too, Noona," he replied.

With that, I showered and got dressed. I went back into my room to find Jiyong sitting on my bed, dressed nicely in black and white. He even wore cross earrings, which I did not expect for a gentleman from one thousand years ago. I couldn't help but ask about them. He answered without a problem.

"I have spent a lot of time last night watching the television, studying language, culture and style. Everything is very quite different from the time I am from. Since I now live as a human in this time period and blend in, I figured I would like to have my own sense of style. I found these earrings in your desk. I pierced my ears myself after watching a guy do it in a movie. I would like to get a tattoo next."

"Wow, you sure do change fast," I laughed. "Piercings? Tattoos? Are you going to stop speaking like a gentleman to me, next?"

Jiyong laughed with me. "Maybe."

"You can if you want to," I told him. "I know speaking so formal makes you stand out. But it would be nice to hear it occasionally."

"No problem."

Hello everyone!

So this is Chapter 6. I'm so happy to finally get to write new chapters for this story. I stayed up till 1:30 in the morning to finish this chapter. Despite starting new chapters, I am still looking for errors in Chapters 1-5. If you spot anything, please let me know! :)

Is this chapter strange? How did you like it?

The next chapter will be in Jiyong's point of view (I switch point of views each chapter but it is labeled), and will be about their date.

Chapter 7: I found one thing, the part about the earrings in chapter 6 was repeated in chapter 7, other than that there were just some spelling typos :) Can't wait to read more of your works!

Chapter 9: This story has really good elements, I wish I could watch this as a drama! For the questions: I thought of it as Jiyong's first time being embarrassed about speaking informally. His formal tone is very charming, I like that about his character. By the way, I loved Chapter 6. It was a good idea introducing a new character in Chapter 8. I'm personally really looking forward to the rest of this story, more parts with Hyesun, as well as scenes with the mythical aspects of gumiho, and just the romance! It's a well balance of many things. <3
