the way we love final

The way we love

OMG I am so so so sorry for being so slow to post this ;__;!  Anyway this is the last part^^; I just hope that the ending is okay?

Minho couldn’t stop the grin from spreading across his face as he jogged down the street. Minho felt a little unsteady on his feet, and the way his head was still spinning made him take it a little easier than he usually did, but he was still determined to go for his run despite his slight headache. Minho sighed, unable to stop smiling as he thought about Jinki and how he had kissed him. Jinki hadn’t pushed him away either; although once they’d pulled apart, Jinki had run off looking shocked. But there was no doubt in Minho’s mind that Jinki had enjoyed it, and that made Minho’s legs feel light. He felt as if he could run his way around Korea and back again.

But there was no doubt in Minho’s mind that Jinki had enjoyed it and that thought put him on cloud nine.
The thought of kissing Jinki, however, could only hold his headache back for so long. After a few more minutes, Minho groaned and slowed down to a walk, gripping his head. He pouted a little, feeling annoyed that he had drunk enough beer to give him a slight hangover. The running was definitely not helping the headache. With a slight grimace, Minho turned around and started to head back to the dorm.

On the way, he suddenly spotted a familiar figure sitting at a table. Grinning, Minho started to head over to Jonghyun’s table when Kibum suddenly appeared and sat down next to Jonghyun. Minho stopped, blinking in confusion. Since when was Jonghyun friends with Kibum? With a shrug, Minho thought about going over anyway, but then he saw Jinki. Minho faltered and then, gritting his teeth, he decided to go over and say hello anyway.

Minho’s long legs took him across the street easily, and he coughed slightly, grinning as he looked down at Jonghyun, Kibum and Jinki. He offered Jinki a shy smile, which grew wider when he saw how Jinki’s cheeks flushed and he suddenly started to fidget with the serviette. Suddenly there was a loud clang, like metal hitting a hard surface. Minho blinked, watching Jinki’s eyes widen, and then Jinki was crouched down on the floor. After a moment, he reappeared with cutlery in his hands. Minho couldn’t help but grin when he saw how Kibum rolled his eyes in annoyance when Jinki dropped the cutlery, but Minho just found it cute.

“Hi,” Minho finally mumbled when Jonghyun swatted at him. “I saw this ugly dinosaur and thought I’d come over and say hi.” Minho nodded, trying to look at Jonghyun and Kibum, but his gaze just slid towards Jinki. He looked adorable blushing, and Minho hoped that Jinki didn’t feel too awkward about the kiss. Although he did feel a little guilty for kissing Jinki like that, considering he was his friend and it was Jinki’s first time kissing another guy.

“So rude,” Jonghyun said with a pout. “You should go home and shower, you stink.” Jonghyun wrinkled his nose up as if he could really smell Minho, ignoring the gasps Kibum and Jinki let out. Minho just rolled his eyes.

“Fine. Anyway, enjoy your breakfast,” Minho said with a grin and then walked off, feeling happy that he had managed to act relatively normal in front of Jinki after what happened the last time they’d met. The image of Jinki dropping the cutlery and blushing, and of how Jinki’s lips felt against his own made him feel so light-headed. Could anyone be more adorable? He didn’t think so.

“You kissed him?” Sungjong squealed, and Minho winced as he nodded his head, feeling a little embarrassed. But he couldn’t keep it to himself, not with the way he wanted to blurt it out to random strangers. His lecture earlier had been awkward; the students around Minho kept inching away, and he guessed his smile was scary from the way they stared at him. Minho had told the guy sitting next to him, “I kissed the guy I liked!” grinning until he saw the stare the guy gave him, his eyes blinking in confusion and his lips set in a straight line. Minho was going to repeat himself, but the guy frowned and then shifted to the next seat along.

“I’m glad I called him then.” Minho blinked when Sungjong suddenly reached for his hand. “Man, this is great! So how was it?” Minho stared as Sungjong started to shake his hand , surprised that Sungjong wanted to discuss it with him. Minho shut his eyes for a second, recalling the moment he had touched Jinki’s lips. It had only been an innocent kiss, but Minho had longed to make it more.

“Oh my god.” Minho opened his eyes to see Sungjong smirking at him. “You’re turning red, and you look so pathetic, all dreamy and in love. Wow.” Minho swallowed and then hid behind his hands; he didn’t want to face his roommate, not now. Minho wished he hadn’t mentioned it. Why had he thought it was a good idea? Sungjong seemed to enjoy teasing him mercilessly, and now he had given Sungjong something else to about.

“Sungjong,” Minho mumbled through his hands, “just don’t. Don’t, okay?” Minho could just imagine that Sungjong was sitting there smirking at him or making kissy faces.

“Hey, we’re not interrupting, are we?” Minho peeked out between his fingers and saw Myungsoo standing in the doorway. His heart stopped when he saw Jinki standing next to him. Minho prayed that his cheeks were no longer red as he lowered his hands and smiled shyly at Jinki.

“No, come in,” Minho said, standing up and shifting over to his desk so Myungsoo could sit next to Sungjong. Minho grinned as he saw Sungjong’s eyes light up, the way they seemed to sparkle. He couldn’t help but wonder if he looked the same when he saw Jinki.

“Hi,” Jinki mumbled and offered a small wave to Minho. “You ah… um… left this last night .” Jinki walked over to where Minho sat, holding out a small book. Minho felt his cheeks heating as he took the book, his fingers brushing against Jinki’s. Minho felt his throat go dry as he gazed up at Jinki, wondering if Jinki had gone back to the field after he had left. Why would Jinki do that? Minho couldn’t even remember having his book with him, and he kept staring at Jinki until he spotted Sungjong and Myungsoo watching them like a couple of hyenas eyeing a carcass.

“Thanks, hyung,” Minho said, smiling warmly up at Jinki and trying to think of something to say quickly before Jinki left. “Um, are you busy later?” Minho breathed in slowly when Jinki shook his head, glancing down at Minho as if waiting for him to say more.

“Can I get you to help me with my assignment? I’m a little confused,” Minho lied, wanting an excuse to visit Jinki away from the hyenas. Jinki nodded, offering Minho a small smile before he shifted closer, reaching out as if he wanted to touch Minho but then sliding his hand back.

“Thanks, hyung, I’ll come to your room later,” Minho said, nodding.

“Yeah, I’ll be home later, but I have to go out now.” Jinki waved at Minho before he left, leaving Sungjong and Myungsoo grinning at Minho.

“So tonight, you’re going to go and seduce him, right?” Sungjong chirped out loudly, making Minho’s cheeks heat. He glanced nervously at the door, watching it shut. He hoped like mad that Jinki hadn’t heard that, and he shook his head quickly.

“You should,” Myungsoo piped up with a smirk. “Just do it, Minho-hyung.” Myungsoo held his thumbs up, and Minho breathed out slowly and evenly, trying to stay calm. Seducing Jinki would be wrong, that much he knew, but Minho figured he had to do something.

“So,” Minho said, leaning in the doorway, feeling awfully brave as he stared Jinki down, “did that kiss feel wrong or right to you?” Minho pressed his hand into his jean pocket, standing there nervously as he eyed Jinki, hoping like hell that he’d respond. Minho was getting sick of Jinki doing things like touching him and staring and then backing away, because it was confusing the hell out of Minho’s heart. It hurt, and Minho needed to know exactly where he stood.

“I don’t know,” Jinki murmured, turning away so Minho couldn’t see his face. “Does it matter?” Minho sighed and then nodded his head. It mattered to him. He needed to know, because Jinki was everything to him, and it just felt unfair, as if Jinki was stringing him along or playing with his feelings. Without thinking about what he was doing, Minho walked across the room and grasped Jinki’s chin, tilting his head towards him. He wanted to kiss him so badly, after nights of dreaming about having Jinki that close, of being able to press his lips against Jinki’s soft, full ones. The thought of not finding out where he stood with Jinki or not being able to kiss him again made Minho’s head ache. It would be like being stranded on a deserted island alone.

“Oh, do you need a refresher?” Minho leaned in close enough to kiss Jinki, but then he pulled back. “Sorry, um, I mean, only if you want. . I’m sorry for pushing myself on you like this.” Minho started to shift back, feeling guilty for behaving this way. It would be so wrong to force himself on Jinki. But then Jinki clutched the front of his shirt, stopping him. Minho couldn’t move even if he wanted to. The way Jinki looked up at him made him melt completely. Minho swallowed, trying to think about anything else but Jinki. Having Jinki’s dark eyes boring into his gaze made Minho’s blood boil, hunger and heat pooling inside his body. He wanted Jinki so badly that he couldn’t help but tremble.

“I’m confused,” Jinki whispered softly. “I don’t know for sure, but I think I feel attracted to another guy.” Minho in a deep breath, trying to jerk away from him, but Jinki still clutched Minho’s shirt tightly. At first Minho wanted to jump up and down in excitement, but then he realised that he couldn’t just assume it meant Jinki liked him. Surely if Jinki did like him, he wouldn’t say it like that; he would just tell Minho, “I think I’m attracted to you” or something like that. It felt as if someone had taken a blunt knife and was sawing through his heart slowly. What if Jinki liked another guy who wasn’t him? It felt too cruel to be real, and Minho couldn’t bear to think that way, but he also couldn’t risk letting himself hope too much. Minho felt as if he was balancing on the edge of a fire, about to fall either into the flames or into a pot of boiling water.

“Can you, um, kiss me?” Jinki whispered. Minho’s eyes opened immediately, and he stared in shock at Jinki. “Just so I can see how I feel about kissing another guy.” Jinki nibbled on his lip, and Minho breathed out slowly, whispering the word ‘calm’ to himself, before he leaned in again. It didn’t matter if Jinki liked someone else, he could not refuse kissing Jinki. The thought of kissing Jinki made his pulse quicken, desire swirling hotly through his limbs.

Minho closed the gap between them. His knees felt so weak as he brushed his mouth against Jinki’s that he thought they would give way at any second. Minho tugged Jinki’s lower lip in between his, cupping Jinki’s face lightly, and it took all of his efforts not to deepen the kiss, especially when it seemed as if Jinki was responding to him. The room seemed to be spinning, and Minho felt as if he were floating up towards the ceiling. Why did Jinki have such perfect kissable lips?

Minho wanted to do this all day, every day; it took all his willpower to stop himself from doing more. He didn’t want to take advantage of Jinki, especially if he liked someone else, but when he pulled back, Jinki was blushing and smiling from ear to ear. Minho blinked and stared at Jinki carefully, wondering who he liked, when he noticed the way Jinki was eyeing him, his hands still tangled in Minho’s shirt. As Jinki tugged on Minho’s shirt, pulling him closer, something clicked in his chest, and Minho couldn’t stop hope from welling up inside him, spreading until it had infected every part of him. He frowned as he noticed the way Jinki was smiling at him, and Minho groaned, feeling like an idiot.

“You do like me, don’t you, hyung?” Minho burst out, his eyes wide in shock. “Jinki-hyung, I’m right, aren’t I?” Minho stared at Jinki, too scared to breathe until he saw Jinki slowly nod his head. Minho wanted to cry with happiness or sulk at the way that Jinki had been teasing him.

However, when Minho looked down at Jinki’s face, the blush painting his cheeks with a light pink and the shy smile curving his lips, he felt giddy, like he had just found out the purpose of life.

Minho started to laugh softly, reaching for Jinki’s hand and lacing their fingers together. He rested his head against Jinki’s chest, shutting his eyes as he held onto Jinki’s hand, resisting the urge to dance around the room like an idiot.

“I’m sorry for not realising it before,” Jinki whispered, sounding so guilty that Minho lifted his head. “And when I kissed Yui, I guess it felt wrong; it was just awkward,” Jinki admitted, making Minho smile in understanding.

“It’s okay, hyung. It’s confusing; it took me a long time to realise I was gay.” Minho nodded his head slowly; he could still remember the first time he had kissed another guy, his first boyfriend. “Don’t be sorry. I would’ve waited forever.” Minho clapped a hand over his mouth, feeling his cheeks heat. He needed to stop being so damn cheesy, but the way Jinki smiled down at him, his eyes disappearing into crescents again, filled Minho with so much warmth.

“Like I said before, my heart only has room for you. There is only you, no one else,” Minho whispered, smiling as he felt Jinki’s fingers his cheek lightly. Minho felt happier than he had for a long time; he couldn’t stop grinning foolishly.

“I’m really silly. All this time you liked me, and I didn’t realise I liked you back.” Jinki bit his lip, stepping back and just staring seriously up at Minho. His expression made Minho’s chest ache. It was too serious, too guilty-looking, and Minho didn’t want to see Jinki with that expression. “I didn’t realise how much I needed you or how much I cared about you until you stopped talking to me. It felt like the sun had been taken away.” Jinki chewed on his lip, looking so upset that Minho had to do something.

Minho didn’t think about what he was doing, he just knew he had to stop Jinki from looking upset. He grinned and bounced forward, reaching out towards Jinki. Minho grabbed Jinki’s hands and just stood there beaming at him, but he opened his eyes wide and then narrowed them again. Jinki just stared at him, not understanding what he was trying to do, so Minho started to exaggerate his facial expressions more, wriggling his nose like a rabbit, and squinting at Jinki. Finally Minho heard Jinki laugh softly; it made him breathe out slowly in relief, before he found himself making more silly faces at Jinki, not caring how stupid he looked because Jinki was laughing and smiling now.

“Glad to see you two idiots have finally worked things out.” Kibum drummed his fingers against the doorframe, smiling when both Jinki and Minho froze, blushing slightly when they saw that the door was open and that anyone could’ve walked in. “I won’t even ask what the hell you guys were just doing,” Kibum mumbled a second later, and Minho laughed, squeezing Jinki’s hand.

“What?” Minho thought Jinki sounded surprised, and the way he stared at Kibum, his mouth opening slightly, made Minho smile as he studied Jinki’s face, “You… you knew?” Jinki mumbled, and Minho wondered if Jinki meant about him being gay or just liking Minho. Minho turned to look at Kibum, seeing him nodding slowly.

“Yes, I worked it out.” Kibum looked smug as he came into the room, shutting the door behind him. “When I saw how your eyes lit up when you talked about him, it became quite obvious to me.” Kibum gestured towards Minho, who placed an arm lightly around Jinki’s shoulders. Minho grinned when he looked over and saw that Jinki was blushing faintly, and he couldn’t stop himself from leaning over to kiss his cheek. Minho inhaled deeply; he felt incredibly light-headed as he stood there thinking that all along he had been right that one day Jinki would like him. When Jinki turned to smile at him, Minho felt like leaping around the room, but instead he just clung to Jinki’s hand and beamed at him happily.

Minho traced his hand down Jinki's chest, eyes following the motion of his fingers before flicking back up to Jinki's face. He smiled and wrapped his arms around Jinki's body, sighing before he held Jinki against him tighter. It felt so comfortable to be lying on his bed with Jinki snuggled against him, still wrapped up in his winter clothes. Minho hadn't even let him take his scarf off before grabbing him; he was just so happy to be with Jinki.

“You know,” Minho whispered, still touching Jinki's chest and trying not to laugh when he saw how red Jinki's cheeks were turning, “I thought you'd never like me back, but I couldn't give up. I didn't want to. I had to try to see if I could get you to like me.” Minho bit his lip, smiling shyly when Jinki smiled happily at him.

“Minho, I'm sorry, you should let me change.” Jinki glanced down at the floor. “I'm all messy from the library, and my hair,” Jinki rambled, reaching up to touch his hair. Minho pouted slightly, before shaking his head. Jinki didn't need to do anything except just stay there with Minho and talk to him.

“Hyung, you're perfect the way you are,” Minho sighed, loosening his hold so Jinki could shift back, “You look cute with your hair like that, all tousled and windblown.” Minho grinned up at Jinki; his heart felt as if it were going to burst out of his chest in happiness, especially when Jinki reached down to grasp his hand tightly.

“You're too kind to me,” Jinki mumbled, squeezing Minho's hand. “I was such an idiot. I hurt you for so long. I'm so sorry, Minho, I hope you can forgive me for being so stupid.” Jinki shook his head, laughing softly at himself. Minho grinned back. It was kind of ironic in a way, but cute too. Although a part of Minho couldn’t help but wonder why Jinki thought he needed to change anyway.

It was kind of ironic in a way, but cute too.  Although a part of Minho couldn’t help but wonder why Jinki thought he needed to change anyway.

“I should’ve realised sooner,” Jinki paused, looking seriously at Minho, “that she was wrong for me. I wasn’t ever really happy with her. I thought I was at the time, but I don’t think I really was.”
Minho nodded, sliding his fingers along Jinki’s slender wrist, and he made a soft noise in his throat to let Jinki know he was listening. He could see from his serious expression that Jinki was still thinking and had more to say.

“I was so stupid. We’d go to her house, and she would ask me to help her with her assignment. I thought it was cute, but she was just using me as a free tutor. And I would end up doing most of her assignment. I can’t believe I was so stupid.” Minho felt a lump forming in his throat, his hands unconsciously clinging to Jinki’s wrist tighter. He didn’t want to hear about her, but at the same time he wanted Jinki to get it all off his chest. Gently Minho pressed his hand against Jinki’s back, it lightly.

“I’m sorry, hyung,” Minho whispered, “but I’m glad you’re no longer with her.”

“Me too.” Jinki wriggled closer to Minho, lips curving upwards as he stared across at Minho. “And she had so many rules and conditions.” Jinki sighed and shook his head slowly before pointing down at himself.
“The way I’m dressed now would be inappropriate with her.” Minho frowned; he thought Jinki looked gorgeous and y the way he was dressed, and he wouldn’t have changed a thing.

“She always complained about my messy hair and my clothes.” Jinki bit his lip. “And she had so many rules and restrictions, in the end I didn’t even enjoy the time I spent with her. I guess she could never really accept me, and maybe she was embarrassed to be seen in public with me. I don’t know, but she never wanted to hold my hand in public or even walk with me, unless it was nighttime or no one was around.”  Minho felt himself tensing. The things Jinki was saying made him feel like dragging Jinki out to the sports field and proclaiming his love for him over a microphone or something. It was childish, but Minho wanted Jinki to know he would never be ashamed of him.

“Hyung,” Minho strugged to think of something to say to convey the mix of anger and hurt that he felt right then for how Jinki had been treated.

“But you know, it was good because it made the moments I spent with you stand out so strongly.” Jinki offered Minho a faint smile, “and it made me really want to see you and hang out with you again, because it felt so much more comfortable,” Jinki trailed off and Minho tried not to misunderstand, but ‘comfortable’ wasn’t really a word he wanted to describe their relationship.

“It also made me feel so happy and excited. Spending time with you felt so much more natural, and just I don’t know, right?” Jinki frowned glancing  up and looking so lost in his thoughts that Minho smiled just watching Jinki’s face, “You never seemed to mind if my hair was wind blown, or if I had mud on my jeans. Sometimes though I still think of those rules, which is silly, I should be able to dress anyway I like.”

He gripped Jinki’s hand tighter, and he suddenly understood why Jinki wanted to change.

“Was that why you wanted to change?” Minho couldn’t help but pout; the fact that Jinki thought he needed to change upset him just a little. He didn’t like the fact that Jinki and had broken up with Yui, but some of her influence still remained.

“Yeah, I just wanted to look my best for you,” Jinki admitted, bobbing his head a little. Minho grabbed Jinki’s chin and tilted his face, leaning in closer to peck him gently on the lips.

“Hyung, you could wear an old tatty sack, and you would still be the most amazing, gorgeous person in the room to me.” Minho grinned, watching the way Jinki’s eyes lit up from his words. His skin seemed to glow, and Minho felt as if he was watching the sun rise, light filling the sky brightly and illuminating everything.

“Thank you.” Jinki gripped Minho’s hand tightly. “You’ve always accepted me the way I am, and for that I’m grateful.” Jinki nodded, and Minho could feel his insides melting, like rich gooey chocolate melting in a pot. Minho couldn’t help but smile warmly at Jinki, feeling glad they had had this discussion.

“Of course I do.” Minho raised one eyebrow; he could hardly like Jinki and then not accept him or expect him to change.

“But you know Minho, I don’t regret dating her because it made me realize about how I felt for you.” Minho nodded his head, it had been painful when Jinki dated Yui, but now he understood. Minho smiled watching as Jinki wriggled against him, bobbing his head up and down.

“Thank you, and I hope you can forgive me for being so stupid and dense. I’m sorry I didn’t realise my feelings sooner. I guess you could say I’m stupid when it comes to love.” Jinki shook his head slowly, and when he grinned over at Minho, Minho couldn’t help but grin back. Minho felt that the conversation was too heavy, like they were sinking lower into the mud, and he wanted to stop sinking before they got stuck.

“Psh, what is there to forgive? I hounded you, hyung.” Minho laughed, thinking about how he had just kissed Jinki when he was drunk. “I forced myself on you, hyung, when I was drunk,” Minho reminded Jinki, determined to cheer him up and make him smile again. Jinki batted his eyes, making his lashes flutter so Minho couldn't stop staring at him.

“Oh, you forced yourself on me?” Jinki whispered. “I guess I have to make it even, right?” Minho frowned, opening his mouth to speak when Jinki pushed him back against the wall, pinning him there and leaning in close. Minho swallowed, feeling heat rising up thickly through his body as Jinki pressed his lips softly at first against Minho's and then more firmly, until Minho no longer felt the wall he was backed into or the bed under him.

The only thing that existed was Jinki and his mouth, which was soft and yet full of passion, pressed against his. Jinki’s lips were soft yet firm at the same time, and each brush of his mouth and then tongue against Minho’s made his limbs tense, the slow pull of desire like the moon’s tug on the ocean, forcing the waves to lap towards the shore, their salty lips reaching forward to taste the land.

When they finally shifted apart, Minho marvelled at how Jinki could go from blushing, being shy and cute, to pushing him back roughly and just claiming his mouth. It amazed him, but he didn’t think on it long, because Minho realised there were more important things he could be doing, especially when he had his beautiful boyfriend panting softly against him.

Minho could feel his thoughts sliding away into the back of his mind, until he could see only black, and then from the blackness he could see one star shining so brightly that there seemed to be nothing else in the world except for that one star. Minho stepped forward in the blackness until the bright glowing star was right in front of him, and he could see beyond the golden light that it was Jinki. He reached for Jinki, taking the golden beautiful man into his arms, feeling happiness exploding inside of him.

When Jinki kissed him again, Minho felt warmth sliding into his limbs, and he opened his eyes to see Jinki melting against him, his eyelashes fluttering as they kissed. Minho’s mind raced as he pressed  against Jinki, and in the back of his mind a little voice seemed to talk, before Jinki’s mouth overrode everything in Minho’s brain.

Sure, thinking was necessary to get good grades, but with love it had got him nowhere. What was the point in thinking, when you could touch and act and watch the way someone else -- someone you loved -- reacted to your every touch?
