I got back to my apartment, face still feeling hot from that kiss, Even when I showered with cold water I could see the steam off my face. I stepped out of the shower, my phone ringing.

"Hey Reese?"

"Miaya, Junior called in sick, think you can start back tonight instead the morning shift?"

"YEAH!, be there in ten"

I threw my SFD tee on, jumped into my jeans, grabbed my key before dashing out. I was almost to the station when I remembered I was supposed to have a date with seungri. The love for my job had distracted my mind. I was rather glad, I didn't know if I could face him just yet after he was so cheeky this morning. The night was busy with two elders folks forgetting their stoves on, one car crash on the highway. We had just gotten back to the station long enough to me to get three bites from my pizza before the alarm went off again. I was running to the truck, pizza hanging from my mouth, sliding my suspenders up my arms. Reese started laughing bfeore laying my halemet on me head for me.

"We missed you"

"I'd say the town did too, fifth call and I've only been on duty for three hours."

I checked the time on the phone on the way to this next call. Seungri texted

Rain check?

I'm guessing he must've been called in since I never wrote him about cancelling. We could hear the call dispatchers through our helmets, telling us it was an apartment complex on fire. most of the residents had gotten out but a family of four were still missing. My heart sank a little, I hated calls like this, you never know what you are getting into til you arrive, and then it's still always changing.

We got down from the truck, unloading everything, checking on everyone, the cheif was talking with the police. I saw the ambulance ahead of us the doors swung open and there was the fluffy brown haired man that had kissed me earlier. Lee Seunghyun. He looked so good in his uniform. the way the fit oall his curves. He rushed over to the rescuers tending to some wounded residents, nothing to major. I smiled at him as our orders came through,

"Miaya?"

"Yes sir"

Go in by twos, contain, rescue leave. the building had been burnt over half by time we kicked ran in. Reese was my partner, even with our SCBA masks on, we couldn't see anything in front of us. it was all guess work. Both of us yelling,

"Anyone in here, hello? anyone?"

The first two apartments were cleared, the third was more hazardous. half the roof had collasped but the fire was contained. the neighbors told us there was a family of four who lived in it no one had seen them get out. Reese went towards one way I went the other. 

"HELLO?"

"anyone in here?"

I heard coughing,

"HELP OVER HERE!"

There was a woman holding a child in a blanket, huddled in the corner, behind a roof beam. She had burns on her legs, soot covered her face and arms,. the baby was crying.

"Come on let's get you out"

She took my hand

'Follow my steps"

We got out of the bedroom as the roof came crumbling down some more

"My son, my husband did they get out?"

"I dont know ma'm let's get you out first"

I gave her the second hose on my tank, hoping some fresher air would help. Reese walked out with the younger boy in his arms. She screamed

"JEUN!"

Reese yelled back

"He's alive"

"My husband?"

Reese kept shaking his head when we ran out the front door. Seungri and his partner took the family from us. I leaned over to Reese

"Where was the husband?"

"Over the son, he was shielding him."

"Oh man"

I couldn't shake this feeling like something was wrong. Several days after the fire we learned it was Arson. Three days of spontaneous fires had happened. all Arson. The fire investigators, were getting closer to catching the guy, but something made him escalate. We had battled two fire on the same block in less than an hour of each other. Between this investigation and sleeping I barely managed to contact Seungri. He just kept telling me to be careful, and that He doesnt mind if we use the gurney but not as patients. Still cheeky as ever.
