it ended weirdly but idk

You and Joshua had been best friends for more than 5 years now, he had tried multiple times to ask you out yet you would deny any feelings you had for him in hope to not ruin your friendship—

“Why don’t you just start dating Joshua already?”

Your friend says while you go to find a seat for lunch

“It’s blatantly clear you two are made for each other”

“Listen”

You say flatly

“I don’t like Joshua- plus even if i did i wouldn’t want to ruin our friend ship, I mean, what if things get awkward between us? I don’t want that to happen”

“I didn’t ask if you liked him”

You friend says giggling and taking a seat across from you.

“Speaking of the devil”

She says subtly pointing behind you. You swing around in your chair as Joshua walks up to the table.

“Hey”

You say as he sits in the chair next to you

“You look pretty today”

He smiles, you almost choke on your food.

“Oh my god are you ok?”

Joshua asks as you wipe your mouth with a napkin.

“Totally fine”

You say straightening up and taking another bite of your sandwich.

“Are you sure? You looked like you almost died”

He laughs

“Yeah I’m fine”

You say

“So are we still going to finish the music assessment at yours today?”

He asks taking a drink of water

“Mmhmm”

You say nodding your head. After what felt like ages lunch was over, you rushed over to your last class for the day. As soon as the last bell rang you hastily made your way out of school and to your house.

“I’M HOME”

You yell as you walk inside.

“How was school?”

Your mum asks.

“Same old same old”

You say.

“Oh and Joshuas coming over soon to finish a music assessment”

You mention before running upstairs

“OK- I”LL LET HIM IN WHEN HE COMES”

Your mum shouts back.

About 20 minuets later you could hear your mum greeting Joshua from downstairs. Quickly you set up a chair and music stand and wait for Joshua to come upstairs. Just like that there were three knocks on your door.

“I’m coming in”

Joshua says walking into your room, he sits in the spare chair and takes out his guitar.

“I want to sing something for you’

He says beginning to strum on his guitar.

you say hesitantly, he keeps singing.

You say again, he stop singing and puts down his guitar. Slowly he makes his way over to your bed sitting next to you. Joshua takes you hand in his.

“I like you”

He says looking down, he lifts his head to see your reaction. Gently you lean in kissing his cheek. Joshua begins to stutter

“I like you too”

You giggle as Joshua looks at you in shock.

“Really?”

He inquires with a look of innocence plastered to his face.

“Really”

You chuckle.
