Misunderstanding

What happen to forever?

2 hour earlier:

Ah, I want to hang out with my girlfriend so badly, why did she have to be busy on such a nice Saturday? Hmmm, maybe I should go out instead of staying at home all day. Who’s available? Seolhyun is with her mom, Choa and Jimin are out together so I can’t call them, Yuna and Mina are out and so is Chanmi and Youkyung. Seems like everyone has a partner but me today, Hyejeong couldn’t help but think. Letting out a pitiful sigh, Hyejeong quickly changed into comfortable clothing ready to spend her Saturday binge-watching a drama that she was into lately. Just as she had made herself comfortable on her sofa, her phone ringer went off. Annoyed by whoever was calling, Hyejeong angrily picked up the call without looking at the caller ID, “hello?!”

“Whoa Hyejeong, who made you so mad this morning? Did you and Seolhyun get into a fight? Did I interrupt you and Seolhyun’s you know what time?” Hyejeong’s face immediately turned beet red when she realized that she had just accidentally yelled at her cousin Kyungri, and because of the last question.

“I-, I’m so sorry. I didn’t check who the caller was and I didn’t expect anyone to call, I was ready to watch-”

Hyejeong heard a loud chuckle on the other end of her call as she helplessly tried to explain why she had just shouted at her cousin. “Relax Hyejeong I’m only teasing, but I’m calling because I was wondering if you wanted to go to this new bakery that just opened up yesterday? I heard their mango cakes are to die for.”

“Yeah I’m free, but I’m not dying for a piece of cake you know. If I’m dying from the cake, at least let me die after eating a whole cake and not a tiny piece.”

“Aw, Hyejeong you and cake are so adorable, if only you weren’t dating Seolhyun you would instead be dating cake.”

“Yeah yeah, whatever just come to my house to pick me up whenever you’re ready. See ya Kyungri.”

“Okay, I’m coming right now than, see ya!”

Once the call ended Hyejeong was finally able to breathe a little, it’s not that she didn’t want to hang out with her cousin, heck she was trying to find someone to hang out with but suddenly after the plans were already made Hyejeong suddenly didn’t want to go. She wasn’t sure why it was like something bad would happen, she was sure it was nothing but she just couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling away. Hyejeong had more important matters at hand though, she had to get prepared to meet Kyungri, luckily she had already gotten changed and had freshened up beforehand, Hyejeong ended up putting on some light makeup and sat down on her sofa waiting for her cousin after being satisfied with how she looked. Hyejeong decided to text Seolhyun where she was going, after all, no secrets between the two right? Just as she was about to, she was interrupted by a loud honking sounds. This annoyed Hyejeong to no end, why couldn’t Kyungri come up to her house, ring the doorbell like a normal person?

Annoyed, Hyejeong decided to text Seolhyun later. Once she grabbed her keys and purse she made her way to Kyungri’s jeep and gave Kyungri the most wtf look as she sarcastically greeted her with “geez Kyungri, thanks for ringing the doorbell, it sure didn’t give me a heart attack when I heard a loud honk.”

Hyejeong became even more annoyed when Kyungri flashed her a charming smile that would work on everyone but Hyejeong. “No problem Hyejeong! Maybe next time I’ll honk the horn louder to give you a real scare, but hello to you to by the way.”

Hyejeong rolled her eyes before mumbling an almost inaudible “hello.”

Kyungri gave her a quick smile before turning up the music volume to 30 and screaming “LET’S GO EAT SOME CAKE!”

Even though Hyejeong hated Kyungri sometimes, she had to admit that Kyungri’s happiness was definitely starting to rub off on her through the years, she was like a cute little kid who had just been bought ice cream. Hyejeong quickly looked out the window so her cousin wouldn’t see her trying to hide her own excitement for cake.

The ride was mostly comfortable silence between the two, with the exception of the loud pop music that Kyungri had playing. It was about 15 minutes later until they reached their destination, Hyejeong took a picture of the small bakery’s store name the moment she got out of the jeep, she definitely planned to take Seolhyun here next Saturday for their unplanned date. Kyungri and Hyejeong quickly made their way inside the small but extremely cozy modern style cafe.

“Hyejeong, what cake do you wanna try? Don’t say all, my bank account is looking a little broke these days, and I’m assuming that you are going to make me pay for you.”

“Damm right you are, your the one who dragged me out of my house to come here, besides I’m on the broke side to right now I spent all my money on Seolhyun’s anniversary gift,” Hyejeong stated with a small smirk.

“Fine fine, with the way you two act people would think it’s your wedding anniversary, just tell me what cake you want.” Kyungri impatiently asked as she was already eyeing every single cake that she personally wanted to try.

“Get me the apricot, blueberry, strawberry, mango, pineapple, cranberry, durian and rum cake. Also, buy me some macarons I want vanilla, chocolate, coffee, grapefruit, and cookies & cream flavor. Thanks.”
Before Kyungri could lift her finger to beat Hyejeong up, Hyejeong quickly dashed to an empty table while deviously waiting for her order.

Hyejeong suddenly remembered that she was supposed to text Seolhyun about her location, but just as she was about to pull out her phone her cousin once again interrupted her by placing the many drool-worthy desserts on the marble table. Hyejeong was in shock, not only were the cakes much prettier in person, her cousin had actually bought everything she had asked for. For a second, Hyejeong thought Kyungri didn’t know what the word “broke” meant. “Thank you Kyungri, this is..how much was all of this? I didn’t expect you to buy every single one I asked for, how much was all of this?”

Kyungri just smiled and said “Ah its okay Hyejeong, I’ll treat you to this one time, don’t worry about the pricing, it’s actually not that expensive and they have super fast service. Go ahead and eat up, I assume some of the cakes you made me buy are for Seolhyun and your other friends?”

Hyejeong could only nod as she was still in awe over how beautiful the cakes were. She quickly snapped a clear photo and sent it to Seolhyun, this also gave her the chance to tell her girlfriend who she was with. Hyejeong was hoping Seolhyun would reply quickly to her text but was immediately disappointed when she saw that Seolhyun still hadn’t read her message after 10 minutes. She’s busy with her parents Hyejeong, don’t overreact.

“Hyejeong you should probably eat your cake instead of just staring at it, also why do you keep looking at your phone? Expecting someone to text or call?”

“Haha yeah, I just sent Seolhyun a text message of where we are. I would love to bring her here next Saturday, she hasn’t responded yet though.” Hyejeong could only sigh as she slowly picked up her fork and tried the mango cake. Her actions quickly sped up as her taste buds approved of how delicious the cake was.

“Loosen up dear cousin, it’s only been like 10 minutes, she’s probably very busy at the moment. We are near her place though, want to go to the park near her house after this?”

“Yeah that seems like a good idea, I don’t see why we shouldn’t go. The weather is nice so far so we might as well take advantage of it.”

“That’s the spirit Hyejeong! Maybe we’ll see your girlfriend there too haha.”

“I doubt it but maybe.” A hint of hope was evident in Hyejeong’s voice, but they continued chatting about how their lives were and throwing occasional insults at each other. Once they both finished their cake, Hyejeong packed up some of the other cakes to give to her friends tomorrow. “Hey Kyungri, thanks again for buying me these cakes I really appreciate it.”

Kyungri once again gave her best smile but this time Hyejeong let herself be won over by it “yeah no problem, you’re my favorite cousin after all.”

Hyejeong let out a small snort after she heard what Kyungri said but she made sure Kyungri knew that she was grateful for her. The two left the bakery and quickly drove to the park near Seolhyun’s house, from there they decided to just sit on the bench surrounded by a bunch of beautiful flowers and trees, in front of them was a beautifully designed duck pond that Kyungri instantly screamed in awe when she saw the adorable ducks swimming around. The two sat down and immediately resumed their conversation, giggling with almost every sentence spoken.

The pair did not know that someone was watching behind the bushes if either one of them turned around and looked closely they would see a heartbroken Seolhyun on the verge of tears. Seolhyun hadn’t used her phone all-day so she hadn’t seen Hyejeong’s text messages, so of course, the first thought that came across Seolhyun’s mind was is she cheating on me? Suddenly images of her and Joongki immediately started to cross her mind, was this a sign? Was Seolhyun supposed to choose between the two, was Hyejeong really being unloyal to her this whole time, not that she could have much say in it after all Joongki almost kissed her, and she had almost kissed back.

Unwilling to let her jealousy consume her, Seolhyun was going to approach Hyejeong and ask her for the truth. Before Seolhyun could change her mind she suddenly found herself in front of her lover and a mysterious girl who Seolhyun couldn’t help but instantly be jealous of. Hyejeong had wide open, but the other girl only smiled. Seolhyun wanted to smack the smirk off the girl’s face, for what reason? She had no idea.

Suddenly the mystery girl stood up and stretched out her right hand inviting Seolhyun to a formal handshake. “Hi! You must be Seolhyun, Hyejeong here talks a lot about you. We just went to a bakery and Hyejeong would not shut up about you. Wow, you’re even prettier in real life!!! Hyejeong sure got herself a catch, but honestly why of all people would you choose my clumsy cousin? OW!” Kyungri’s introduction was immediately cut off when Hyejeong had “accidentally” sent an acorn flying to the back of Kyungri’s head. Hyejeong could only glare at Kyungri as Kyungri continued to introduce herself to the now very much confused Seolhyun. “Anyway, before I was rudely interrupted by your disrespectful girlfriend, I’m Kyungri, Hyejeong’s favorite cousin.”

Now understanding the mistake that Seolhyun had almost made, Seolhyun quickly shook Kyungri’s hand to show there were no hard feelings or any confusion for that matter. “Oh, so your Hyejeong’s cousin! I saw a baby photo from Hyejeong’s house before, wow I didn’t even recognize you!”

Kyungri let out a loud laugh as she realized Seolhyun had no idea who she was before she had told her. “Haha yes, I’m Hyejeong’s cousin, you must’ve thought she was cheating on you right? You don’t have to ever worry about that, what you should be worried about is how Hyejeong looks like when she eats cake, now that’s your competition.” Kyungri was once again met with another acorn to the back of her head as she quickly sat back down on the bench while rubbing her head in a jokingly manner.

Hyejeong let out a very loud sigh as she finally looked at Seolhyun straight in the eye before she could even say anything her lips were immediately connected to Seolhyun’s lips. When Seolhyun pulled back with a smile Hyejeong wanted to swoop right back in and kiss her again. Seolhyun muttered something but Hyejeong couldn’t quite hear, but she swore Seolhyun had mumbled: “I think I’m still in love with you.” Hyejeong immediately shook away the thought, maybe Seolhyun hadn’t even said anything at all.

Minutes later after the smooth misunderstanding, Kyungri and Seolhyun were suddenly best friends. They teased Hyejeong with every chance they could, adding to Hyejeong’s annoyance. She was happy to see Seolhyun, but she didn’t think Seolhyun and Kyungri would team up on her, that was probably why she had never really mentioned Kyungri to Seolhyun, they would get along way too easily. The conversation kept on going and going as they walked around the park in the night sky, and their conversation was all about her! Insult after insult, Hyejeong wanted to just explode in anger but for some reason, she didn’t really hate it, she was just annoyed by it.

Hyejeong could hear Seolhyun and Kyungri giggling in the background as she tried to focus on anything but their conversation, but she couldn’t avoid them she could hear Kyungri ask Seolhyun “how has Hyejeong not raided your parents fridge yet? You think at this point since you’ve been dating for around 3 years, she would’ve raided your emergency food stash as well.”

“Let me tell you, the first time she came over to my house we hadn’t begun dating yet. We were just friends and she asked me what was in my fridge. Of course, I told her and then she raided it, ate my ice cream and all my pork buns too. I don’t get how her figure is so nice, although it is nice sometimes, if I don’t feel like eating anymore she’ll eat it for me so we don’t waste any food. It’s like she has a black hole in her stomach or something. Oh and an even better story, when my mom first made dinner for us, Hyejeong ate the whole entire rice cooker, now every time Hyejeong comes over, my mom comes prepared with 8 servings of rice, sometimes even 10 if Hyejeong tells her that she’s hungry.”

Kyungri and Seolhyun both couldn’t stop laughing as more and more stories were passed on about Hyejeong, all Hyejeong could do was continue sighing and walking. One story, in particular, did catch her interest which was when Kyungri asked Seolhyun whether or not her parents knew they were dating.

Seolhyun thought about it before replying “no they don’t. They think Hyejeong is my best friend since I’m always going to her house and she’s always coming to mine. We actually planned to tell them after high school ended, but here we are in college and still haven’t even hinted our relationship to them.”

“Ah it’s okay, maybe one day you’ll get to tell them with confidence.”

Hyejeong slowly turned around to face the two, and immediately made eye contact with Seolhyun. Just making simple eye contact made Hyejeong want to melt into Seolhyun’s arms, she was sure that this was love, and her love for Seolhyun was true. Seolhyun sent Hyejeong a flying kiss which Hyejeong quickly returned. The night sky was getting darker and darker which was a cue for the girls to start going back home.

Hyejeong pulled Kyungri to the side after Kyungri and Seolhyun sad their warm goodbyes to each other “you don’t have to drive me back home, I think I might spend the night with Seolhyun so I’ll walk her home.”

“You sure? I can drive you both to her house, it won’t be any hassle at all.”

“Yeah I’m sure, me and Seolhyun have some talking to do anyway.”

“Alright, get to her house safely cousin, and see you later Seolhyun! It was nice meeting you!”

Seolhyun immediately responded with “it was nice meeting you as well, lets set up a hang out time together soon!”

Hyejeong wished Kyungri a safe trip home, and soon Seolhyun and Hyejeong found themselves walking together hand in hand. Hyejeong quickly broke the growing silence by asking Seolhyun about her phone “hey baby, did you see the messages I sent you? I took a picture of all the cake my cousin got for us.” Hyejeong expected a response but was met with silence, confused she tried to make eye contact with Seolhyun only to see that Seolhyun was staring at the ground in her own little world. Hyejeong was going to interrupt but she thought that maybe Seolhyun was tired.

As they walked, more questions surrounded Hyejeong’s mind. Why was Seolhyun out at the park alone at night? What had she been doing all day? Why her sudden mood swing? Was she okay? What did she mumble earlier when they kissed? She still had to talk to Seolhyun about the theater acting as well. Did Seolhyun have doubts about their relationship? Hyejeong silently prayed that the answer to her last question was no.

Soon they reached Seolhyun’s home, as Seolhyun wordlessly allowed Hyejeong to enter her house, Hyejeong was immediately greeted with the sight of Seolhyun’s mother watching the tv. “Hey mom I’m home, I brought Hyejeong with me, is it okay if she stays the night?” The lack of emotion in Seolhyun’s voice scared Hyejeong. Had she done something wrong?

“Yeah of course honey, also can you tell that Joongki boy that if he ever needs a place to stay he can always come here.” When the name “Joongki” popped up, both Seolhyun and Hyejeong immediately looked at the woman sitting on the couch minding her own business. Hyejeong was filled with confusion while Seolhyun was in full panic mode.

Before Seolhyun could say a word, Hyejeong stepped forward still in her tennis shoes onto the recently vacuumed white carpet and asked Seolhyun’s mother “Joongki was in this house?”

Seolhyun’s mother finally turned to get a good look at Hyejeong and was instantly horrified when she saw Hyejeong’s outdoor shoes on her beautiful white carpet, but she kept her anger inside. “Yes Hyejeong, he slept here last night after Seolhyun brought him here. Also please get off my carpet, it was recently vacuumed if you want to step on it wear the house slippers.”

Anger consumed Hyejeong, she felt betrayed. Seolhyun had lied to her, they were supposed to have a date yesterday but they had to postponed their plan because Seolhyun had to “help” her mother, or so Hyejeong thought. Now she knew the truth, Seolhyun had lied to her in front of her face, she had been with Joongki the whole time. Fueled with anger and betrayal Hyejeong couldn’t even force herself to look at Seolhyun, she tried not to cry but she could feel her eyes getting teary, she had to get out of this house fast. Seolhyun tried to grab her arm, she probably said something too but Hyejeong wasn’t listening, she was too angry to care. Hyejeong shook away Seolhyun’s grip on her arm and bolted out the door, she didn’t know where she was running in the middle of the night, she couldn’t even see that well because of the tears that had finally made their way down Hyejeong’s cheek, but she kept running and running. As she was running she accidentally bumped into two people, but before she could see who it was she immediately out.

Chapter 6: Man, seolhyun‘s such a b*tch in this story. Like gurl, you have no right to be mad and jealous when you‘re the unfaithful one. And she IS cheating on hyejeong, no doubt. They just haven‘t kissed yet but seriously, they went on a date, held hands, he tried to kiss her and he slept over at her place. I‘m pretty sure he doesn‘t know that she has a girlfriend in the first place so all this sh*t is honestly seolhyun‘s fault. She‘s deceiving both sides and i feel like it‘ll end badly for her, really bad. I mean how can she just throw away a 3 year relationship and just lie right in her face to go on a date with a guy she just met?!

Chapter 5: Omg Joongki has a good character so far but he is seriously a bit annoying! How can he call her his, when she didn't even agree on anything?! And Hyejeong hangout out with a girl, can't it just be that she's having fun with a friend, or sister or smt? And seriously, i don't wanna see Hyejeong broken when she finds out about the date and everything that's gonna happen in the future IF SEOLHYUN DOESN'T FREAKING CALL HIM OFF!!! She should break up with Hyejeong or stay faithful to her! And not try to two-time! This is going nowhere for both sides!

Chapter 5: It's really unfair how Seolhyun gets hurt just seeing hyejeong hanging out with someone while doing something worse than that. I hope seolhyun will feeps jealous and get hurt.
I think that if seolhyun continues this with joongki she might as well breakup with hyejeong. Hyejeong is such a good girlfriend yet she chose to cheat on her.

Lookng forward to your next update!
