"SHRILILILILING!!!"

Eunhye's alarm sounded. She climb out of bed half-asleep and gets ready for school. She look into the mirror — her ordinary-looking eyes, ordinary-looking nose, and...the scar on her forehead, hidden by her bangs. She sighs, looking at the ceiling, tears welling up in her eyes. 

May 1 1996 6:30 p.m.

"We're sorry to announce the death of Lee A Hyun. Our deepest condolences." The doctor said gravely to Eunhye and her father. She looked up at her father in tear-filled eyes. He turned to her, grief written all over his face as he looked at Eunhye sadly. The death of Eunhye's mother Lee A Hyun was devastating and her father, who loved her very much suffered of depression after her death. He started to drink and smoke and even took some drugs to numb the pain of losing a loved one. Eunhye's once loving, caring and humorous father became someone she had not known before. Now, her father was a hot-tempered, violent alcoholic who often vents his anger on Eunhye, abusing her as a young teenager. The scar on her forehead, which is still visible today, was from a fragment of a whiskey glass bottle that cut her forehead when her father threw it at her. She wanted to run away and even had sucidal thoughts to join her mother in heaven. Slowly, young Eunhye grew up as an abused child with little self-confidence, quiet and shy to meet the world. When her father gets home drunk, she would quickly climb out of her window (her house had only one storey) and run as fast as she can to the nearby park. Often to scream and shout at the o
