Chapter 7 uh oh

Dancing With Desi

The sudden ringing and stopping of the church bells caught Jinwoon’s attention and he looked up until he heard shuffling. The rest of the boys were too caught up in their talk until Key noticed Jinwoon walking away from them.

“Hey, where are you going?” His voice’s echoes making him jump.

Ignoring his friend completely, Jinwoon walks over to a tapestry that had just moved, revealing a girl with red hair. She puts the tapestry back and turns around only to be face to face with Jinwoon.

Her eyes grow larger than dinner plates from America, and she makes small movements to try and sidestep him, but he moves in sync with her.

Fear grew in the pit of Desi’s stomach as he moved with her, ending her thoughts of a quick and easy escape. moved silently like a fish out of water.

“I…” was all that left the boy’s mouth before Desi darted past him and then realized that she had left her room—where was she thinking she would go?!

She hit herself in the head lightly with her fist before turning back around to see the dancing group from the festival. Desi’s stomach drops and she fell to her knees sobbing as memories came back at her. Everyone’s laughing or equally horrified faces boring into her exposed being.

Her sobs came out quiet and hoarse and Taemin came running to her side.

“You see what you all did with your stupid prank?!” He yells, motioning towards the broken girl on the floor, “you traumatized her!”

“Look girl-,” Jonghyun started but Taemin interrupted.

“And that’s another thing; she HAS a name!”

Jonghyun put his hand up to silence his maknae as he continued, “It was just a harmless prank, but if it hurt you so damn bad; I’m sorry,” He got down low to her level and offered a hand to help her up. She looked up through her bangs and he shot her a stunning smile. She sniffled and got up on her own awkwardly.

Jinwoon walked up to her, “Hi, I’m Jinwoon,” He outstretched his hand and Desi stared at it with her puffy eyes.

“I’m Desi.” She said simply before looking him in the eyes. Before she could think, memories of a doctor, a woman crying and screaming and an angry man flashed before her eyes. She fell into one of the pews, resulting with her on the floor with a shocked expression.

“Wh-who a-are you?!” She screamed. Jinwoon moved towards her.

"N-noona?" Jinwoon's voice shook as he took in all her features; her red hair, eccentric eyes, and long limbs. She was beautiful. Her face was a slight pale color while one half was a wine-colored splotch that stretched across her nose and eye.

“Noona?” He asked again, pulling something out of his pocket slowly. Desi flinched, bringing her hand close to her face.

Her eyes widened and held onto the church pew for dear life, "I....Wh-who a-are..." She mumbled to herself for a few minutes.

"Jinwoon! Where did you g-" A gasp was heard and the two teens sprang up from their positions.

 "-Aunt EunAh"

 "-Aunt EunAh!"

The teens said in unison, then turned towards each other with shocked faces. Aunt EunAh had a look of horror on her face, which contorted into anger.

“Desdemona, what are you doing outside of the attic?” She asked with a, clearly fake, smile. Jinwoon stepped forward slightly.

“What’s going on?” he demanded, but was easily ignored.

“Go back upstairs Desdemona; I will deal with you later,” he ordered. Desi quickly rose to her feet and scurried back to the tapestry and without another look back she disappeared. Desi stayed right behind the tapestry so she could hear everything—curiosity got the best of her.

"It was your father that put me with this...this thing!" EunAh bellowed melodramatically.

“SeongJin.” Jinwoon said quietly.

EunAh him with equal fury, “What?”

“Her name is SeongJin. Not Desi, or Desdemona. SeongJin.” He pulled the birth certificate out of his pocket and shoved it in his aunt’s face.

“Does she really live in the attic?” Taemin asks. EunAh examines the paper in her nephew’s hands and she scoffs at his friend’s question.

“Of course she lives in the attic; where else would someone as hideous as herself live?” She asks a rhetorical question and answers it herself, “I had to keep her out of the view of the people; it would destroy the balance in the community to have someone so different.”

A small gasp was heard and everyone in the room turned to see the tapestries moving, then a flash of red before the church doors were flung open and someone ran out.

“Well there goes the neighborhood,” Jonghyun mutters, looking at the door that was hanging ajar.

“You..” Jinwoon pointed at his aunt then looked at the door then looked back at his aunt, “Are a horrible person.” He darts out the door to begin a search of his older sister.
