“this is my religion” ; metaphor

“God Rap” is the seventh track on the mixtape and Yoongi supposes that the name fits well, what with how they all spit out their verses like a prayer, voice caressing the syllables that carry the entirety of their hopes, their dreams, hands curling around the mic the way a child first handles rosary beads, delicately and with far too much force, all at once. 

They used to attend rap and dance battles as often as a pastor attends service, and possibly even more than that.
