His lungs were telling him to stop, as he tried to breathe in air, but Lay kept on running he needed to talk to Krystal, he needed to know what had happened, and to make matters worse it had started pouring heavily but despite it ,he kept on running in the crowd shouting frantically for his girlfriend.

“Krystal!”

“Krys”

He stopped, as he saw a familiar lone figure sitting on the bench, head hunched, she was completely wet, yet she just sat there like a statue.

Seeing her, Lay sighed in relief, as he felt the pit in his stomach dissolve, sitting next to the girl on the bench he whispered her name causing her to look up.

“Krystal” he whispered

She looked up upon hearing her name, and Lay was astonished

Krystal was crying, it wasn’t the tears that surprised him, it was the look in her eyes.

“Why did you do it?” Minho looked at the girl sitting in front of him

“Well, what’s so good about that anyway?” Jihyo said haughtily

“He likes her!”

“Yeah well I’m better!” She cried

“I’m prettier now!”

(Flashback)

Jihyo wasn’t always like this, there was a time when she used to be a sweet naive girl.

In a classroom, amongst all the hustle bustle of the students since it was a free period, sat a young girl in the corner, engrossed in the magazine in front of her.

Her messy curls had been pushed back with a headband, in thought that maybe they’ll make her look better, her chubby cheeks drooping down, fading acne scars present all around her face, and a double chin more than evident as she looked down at the picture.

‘Hey Jihyo”

Looking up Jihyo saw one of her classmates standing in front of her

“Hi, Yuri” She smiled

“So I heard you have a boyfriend!” She said cheerfully

“...yeah” a blushing Jihyo stated as the picture of her sweet boyfriend crossed her mind

‘Well I’d love to meet this mystery guy” Yuri said.

Clad in a simple check shirt and pants, Jihyo told herself for the umpteenth time that it was alright to go in after all he was her boyfriend and she being his girlfriend was going to surprise him with a visit.

With that being said she pressed the bell, pressing it she ran a hand through her hair which she had brushed and straightened properly all morning, just to impress him.

The door before her opened and a handsome male popped out

“Hi Mark,” She said cheerfully waving at her astonished boyfriend

“Wh..what are you doing here?” He whispered obviously not happy with her arrival

Hearing his response, her smile twitched for a moment , she wasn’t expecting this answer from him, she had thought he would be elated to see her since they hadn’t met each other for a week now, maybe he’s busy or just tired Jihyo told herself , trying to prove her mind wrong

“I.. I thought I’d surprise you,” She said

Before the guy could speak anything, a voice was heard from inside

“Mark, come on now!”

It was a girls voice

“W..who’s inside?” Jihyo whispered, a pit forming in her stomach, deep down she knew what it was her mind was telling her to leave, yet with heavy steps she walked past her boyfriend, who kept on telling her to leave.

Walking inside the living room,she saw a girl sprawled on the couch, wearing nothing but a shirt, Marks shirt. She had given him that shirt for their 100th day anniversary. She had worked two part-time jobs to save up the money for this, it was for him, not for some other girl.

“I..is she your sister?” Jihyo said, not accepting the truth in front of her

Hearing the commotion the girl got up, with her long legs, and curvaceous body she was a sight to behold. Seeing Jihyo she eyed her from head to toe, seeing her dishelved look and figure she wanted to laugh out loud.

“No,” Mark said

Walking up to the other girl

“She’s my girlfriend”

Jihyo felt like she had been stabbed straight in the gut, tears glistening in her eyes

“B..but I’m your girlfriend” She stammered

Mark laughed

“You! And my girlfriend?” He eyed her disgustedly up and down

“No sweetie, you were just a bet”

It was a bad nightmare, she tried to tell herself, this can’t happen to me, Mark had always talked about how much he loved me, and how I was his one girl

And on this remark, it was the other girl who laughed out loud like she had just been told the biggest joke of the decade.
