Chapter 6

 

Year 2017     8:30PM ; July 18,      One year passed, the twins are already a year old. Stephanie, as the godmother, decided to threw a birthday party for them since the parents are unable to give them because of their unresolved issue.      Pride.      Months after Jiyong woke up, Taeyeon did her very best so that he will forgive her. It's easy to forgive but not easy to forget. Until now, they still don't have a decent talk because Jiyong remained as hard as a stone. She talks to him ; he doesn't respond. She chases him ; he avoids her. There's only one chance to talk him, and it was when Jiyong will visit the twins.      Jiyong tucked the twins into their cribs. He avoided Taeyeon but never the twins.      "Babies, daddy is so sorry. He can't visit you tomorrow. Goodnight! Happy birthday again, cuties!" he apologized and greeted them for the nth time and gave them a goodnight kiss.      Taeyeon, who was standing by the door, was admiring the beautiful scene she's witnessing. A smile crept over her face. It was obvious that Jiyong really loves his kids so much. This is her dream-- to have a family of her own with the man she loves. But too bad, that won't happen anymore. Everything was ruined. She misses him. She misses the warmth of his embrace and his kisses. As soon as Jiyong's eyes landed on her, he avoided her, again. When he's about to go home, Taeyeon stopped her.     "Jiyong."     Jiyong just looked at her eyes and so was she.     Silence. They both stared at each for almost for minutes, examining each other's faces. Both are stressed and depressed.     "I- I just want to say thank you for coming." was all that she could say.      His face was expressionless. Stoic. That hurt Taeyeon.     Jiyong broke the eye contact and turned his back. He opened the door of his Bentley when he felt Taeyeon's arms tightly wrapped around his waist.     "Jiyong, don't go. I'm so sorry." she threw herself in to his back in complete despair. She swore to herself that this would be the last time that she'll chase him.      What's the sense of chasing Jiyong and seeking his forgiveness if he doesn't want to be chased nor to give forgiveness? She chased him, only God knows how many times already. She reached her limits. She's tired.     "I did you wrong. But please hear me out..." she paused, still in that position. "I never intended to cheat on you. It was all because of loneliness. I swear! When you were in oversea, I was lonely like crazy. He was there, on my side. He's always to the rescue, so I.. I fell in love with him. But when you came back, I swear again, I realize that it's still you that I love. Kwon Jiyong is still the man that my heart screams. I know I was wrong and I know too that I don't deserve your forgiveness. But please, someday, in the right time, I hope I still have a soft spot in your heart, so that you can forgive me. I won't ask for more, Jiyong... I think this is a goodbye. I'm very sorry but I'll be moving in America together with the twins."      America?! He was shocked.  No. It can't be!     "What?! No, Taeyeon! I'm the father of the twins yet you're taking them away from me?!" he broke out the hug.     "Let me explain fi---" she begged holding his arms but he pushed her.     "Oh c'mon! If this is about us, please don't get too personal. It's our twins' sake that we're talking about! Not Jiyong and Taeyeon's ing past love story!"     She felt a pang on her chest. He made it clear already. Past love story. Did they even break up? Closure?      He has a point. It's about the kids. Not their problem.     "I don't want the twins to grow up without a father! It's a NO-NO!"     "You can still visit us, Jiyong-ah." she attempted to hold his hand again but she failed.     "When will you stop saying bulls, huh?! You can't take them away from me! Aren't you already satisfied from all the things that you've done?!" Jiyong punched the wall and his hand started to bleed, then he continued, "You are indeed a selfish one, Kim Taeyeon!"     "I'm regretting it... I'm very--"      "If you are really regretting it, then stay. Stay in Korea. Korea is their home." he said and went to his car.     Will she stay? Or run away?  Will she chose what's good for her?   Or what's good for the twins?       * 1PM ; August 17     The PA announced boarding.      "Boo, are you sure?" Stephanie asked again. "Don't hesitate to tell me." she held Taeyeon's hand that was on her lap.     "My decision is firm. I'm not taking the twins away from him. I told him that he can still visit us... I mean he can still visit the twins."     "But still, ugh! NEVERMIND!"  Stephanie rolled her eyes. "Just be okay there. Send my greetings to dad, mom, Jiwoong oppa, and Hayeon." she gave her a loving and tender embrace.      "Okay boo. I'll miss you. Visit us, okay?" Taeyeon bid her goodbye and kissed Stephanie on the cheeks. "Natalie and Nathan, kiss your auntie."      "Awww. So sweet, my cutie patooties! Don't be a headache to mommy and don't worry, auntie will visit you soon." she assured as she patted the two and showered them kisses. "And we will eat candies, ice cream, cakes, whatever you want. We won't tell mommy." whispered Stephanie but Taeyeon still heard it.     "You're spoiling them."      "I just want them to be happy. I love them as much as I love their mommy."     "Eww. So we're boarding now. Bye, boo. See you soon!"     "Bye."      As soon as they hugged for one last time, Taeyeon heard a familiar voice.      "WAIT!" he shouted, still catching his breath. It seemed that he ran all the way from his office to airport. Jiyong. Jiyong's still on his company attire.     "Jiyong oppa? I thought you'll never come." Stephanie said.     Jiyong approached them. He went closer to the twins, knelt down and gave them a big hug as tear fell on his eye. They stayed like that for minutes. Taeyeon was just beside them, looking so emotional.     "Kids, be good there, okay? I'll pay a visit monthly."  said Jiyong, still not letting go of them.      "Attention please. This is the final call for Miss Kim Taeyeon, Kwon Nathan, and Kwon Nathalie of Korean Air flight 8999 to United States of America. Please proceed to gate 29 immediately."     "Bye, Jiyong. Happy birthday!"     "Kim Taeyeon."     Worst birthday ever.     Taeyeon left.  She chose to be selfish.  She ran away.      * San Francisco, California     "Seunghyun?!"      Taeyeon was beyond shocked. Seunghyun was the last person she wants to see. How come he appeared right in front of her? She did not even give him the address, only Jiyong since Stephanie already knew it.     "Hi, babe!" he attempted to plant a kiss on her forehead but Taeyeon pushed him.     "Seunghyun, you're completely insane! I told you we're already done! Why did you ing follow me here?!"     "Isn't that sweet, babe? I followed you all the way here in America." he said sweetly to her as he tried to flip her bangs. "Still remember what I told you? I said I won't let you go. Now I'm here." he smirked. This time he pecked her lips.     "UGGGGH!!! YOU, SEUNGHYUN!" she cursed out loud, enough to make him feel hurt.     "Okay. I'm sorry. I'll get straight to the point. Listen to me." he apologized with pleading eyes. "Taeyeon, I love you so much that I'll do everything for you. While there's a man putting you last, there's a king who is willing to  put you first." Seunghyun held her hands and interlocked it with his. Taeyeon did not protest.      Her heart was touched because of his last statement. She felt like wanting to give him a chance. She misses the feeling of being loved. He was so determined to win her heart. So why not?     A sin should not bear another sin. She should resist the temptation no matter what.      Taeyeon sighed. She already took the first step to right the wrong, so she must continue it and never look back.      "Seunghyun, for the one last time. Please. I'm telling you this. LET.ME.GO." emphasized Taeyeon.      "No, Taeyeon..."     "Clear your mind. Have a vacation. Find someone better. Make her happy. Propose to her. Marry her. Be a family and mostly, grow old with her ." she enumerated all the things that she dreamt of when she in high school. "Isn't that the best thing that life could offer?
