"Mwo!!!!??? Marriage?? Us???!!!" Taeyeon asked while pointing to herself and Jiyong.
She was the first to react as she heard Jessica's words. Of course she wanted to keep Jiyeon, she wanted a family and had always dreamed of getting married, but not now, not yet.
"What do you mean married? And how did you know that we have to get married to keep her?" She asked Jessica who was smirking at her.
"Pabo-yah. First I didn't say that "you" as in you two, have to get married. I meant "you" as in someone who wants to adopt in general. And secondly, where in the world did you get that idea that I was telling you to get married to him?" Jessica smirked once again as she explained to the blushing Kim Taeyeon
"Oh and if you don't believe what I said about that rule in adoption then let's call someone whose knowledge I know you would never doubt" Jessica said to them as she got her phone
"By the way Jessica, how did you know that Taeyeon was missing and that she ran away with me?" Jiyong curiously inquired
"Who are you calling?? Someone whose knowledge I won't doubt..... don't tell me..." Taeyeon suddenly asked at the same time as Jiyong but Jessica ignored the both of them as she waited for her call to go through
"Ah..Hyunnie! Yes it's me... Yah. You don't have to shout..... Yes I found her..... You were right about where she might be..... Yes he is.... no I don't think so it's more complicated than that.... Hmmm Okay I'll let you talk to her later. Hyunnie are you alone right now?.... Are you busy?..... Oh you have a schedule..... Can you meet us later?.... yes the usual.... Hmm....let's say around 4pm no one would usually be around that time... okay see you later... Oh and Hyunnie don't tell the girls about this alright... Yes, even Tiffany, don't tell her.... Okay I'll ask him then text you his reply. Bye Seohyunnie!!"
Taeyeon and Jiyong were both intently listening to Jessica's side of the conversation when she asked
"Hyunnie is asking if she could bring Seungri, he's been bugging her if she knew where Jiyong was since they all saw he running with you"
"NO!!!" Jiyong suddenly shouted then lowered his voice when he realized it " I'm sorry, please tell her not to, my group members can't know about this set up yet"
"Okay I'll text her that you said not to"
"Thank you" he said gratefully
"Sica how can you call Seohyun-ah, I told you that we agreed that we won't tell our members yet aside from you!! And why her? Maknae can't keep secrets from her unnies if they ask her outright, you know she's too honest" Taeyeon scolded Jessica
"No you didn't tell me Tae and please don't underestimate our Maknae, she was able to keep it quiet whenever you snuck out and kept it from others even when I wasn't with you anymore, did you know how hard it was for her to help you keep some sense of privacy and lying to her beloved unnies when you’re missing. Have some faith in her Taeyeon-ah, she deserves it, especially from you" Jessica angrily said back while trying to defend their Maknae
"What do you mean she's been helping me? She knows about it when I sneak out??" Taeyeon then asked her
"Who do you think makes the openings for you to sneak out, after shows, during our get togethers, after fan meetings, and even after our concerts. She's the one who sneaks out to unlock the back doors for you without you suspecting, you didn't even notice that whenever you get to sneak away from our managers it's always her talking to them. She knows how much pressure you feel being the leader" Jessica revealed
"Now let's go, we are meeting her in an hour. Pack your things." She ordered them
"But we can't leave! There's still two days left for the funeral rites. Who's going to prepare everything?" Taeyeon told Jessica
"Listen Tae, I know the two of you don't want to go, but the best things you can do for the Choi's is to make sure that their child goes to you so follow me and let's find out what we can before the trial next week. I'll get someone to prepare the things needed here for the remaining days of the wake"
"She's right Tae" Jiyong agreed "we can't do anything for them here, we can't even go out into the hall, so let's follow Jessica for now, it's our best bet to keep Jiyeon"
Taeyeon now had no choice but to concede since both of them were asking for the same thing, since when did they start agreeing with each other, she asked herself
"Alright fine, then how do we get out of here?" She asked
"I've got it covered, an oppa I know would pick us up from the back door, we can have someone else get our cars later. Now get everything you need in case we can't come back here"
So they all went to with Jessica to what looked like a secluded area of Seoul near Han River.
"Where are we Sica?" Taeyeon asked as they stepped out of the car into an alley behind a building
"We are at my favorite cafe "Nove Coppe" it's Italian meaning 'nine cups'. Seohyunnie and I used to come here together before... You are not the only one who sneaks out you know. It's harder now because we can't be seen together lest the company find out that we know something" she then told them
"But what if people see us? Are you sure it's empty right now? What about the staff, won't they tell anyone?" Jiyong anxiously asked, he was worried that people would see them all together
"That's why we're coming in from the back door silly. Oh and don't worry about the staff they can be trusted. Chill out you two it's perfectly safe here" she told them to make them feel more at ease
But Jiyong still couldn't stop from asking "how are you so sure?"
"Because I own this place. Bow stop asking and get in, someone might really see us if we stay out here any longer" she said as she pushed both of them inside from a back door that they didn't notice before
"I never knew you owned a cafe Sica, you never told us" Taeyeon said to Jessica
"Well everyone has their secrets..... um..... So how is it?" She asked them as they stepped into the 2nd level of her cafe "I got the lot place for a cheap price and helped redesign the place, I had Seohyun help me decide on how to run the place. I chose to make it a cafe since all of us love our coffees. I was actually planning to take you here with me to celebrate the opening of my fashion line but then well.... you know what happened...sooo now your here. Is it okay? What do you think?"
They were surprised at what they saw
(Imagine this as her cafe)
The cafe is built by a park so from the window they could see the view of the park and Han river from the other side. The place was warm and welcoming, too warm for the ice princess"
"It's fantastic Jess, just what I would expect from one of Korea's top fashion icon. You’re really good at mixing designs and decors" Taeyeon said to her as she smiled
"Wow, your place is awesome, no wonder you tried to keep it private from the media. If people knew about this place then you could be mobbed and it would ruin the mood of your cafe"
"Thanks for the compliments. Order anything you'd like, it's on the house. Seohyun would be here any time now" she thanked them and got one of her staffs to take their orders

"Unnies!!!!" Seohyun shouted as she got to the second floor
"Seohyun-ah!!" Taeyeon called back from her seat. Although she wanted to run and hug the girl she couldn't since she was carrying the sleeping Jiyeon
"Seohyunnie! Your finally here, come and sit, I'll have them bring you your regular order" Jessica said to the younger girl as she stood up to get their orders
"Oh. Um. Annyeonhasaeyo Sunbaenim" she respectfully greeted him when she realized that Kwon Jiyong was with them
"No need to be so formal Seohyun-ssi, you can call me Jiyong oppa if you like" he chuckled at the nervous girl who looked like she didn't know whether to sit down or to hug her unnies first because of shyness at his presence
"Jiyong oppa, please be nice." She asked Jiyong before Taeyeon told her donsaeng "come and sit Seohyun-ah" as she patted the chair next to her
"I'd like you to meet Jiyeon" she told the girl when she finally sat
"Annyeong Jiyeon-ah!!" seohyun said softly to the sleeping baby
"Jiyeon....
Jiyeon........ Jiyong....and Taeyeon.....
Omo unnie IS SHE YOURS?" She exclaimed loudly as she made the connection with their names waking the baby in the process
~~uwaaah~~~ ~~o-o-om-ma~~~ ~uh-uh~uwaaah~~~
"Shhhh.... I'm here Jiyeon-ah...... I'm here" Taeyeon repeatedly said to calm the crying Jiyeon
She calmed down but wouldn't go back to sleep anymore. Instead Jiyeon tried to bury herself in Taeyeon's neck seeing, feeling shy at seeing new people.
"She's not ours Seohyun-ah. Seriously, we've been together for more than a decade have you seen me pregnant anytime during those years?" She asked the younger girl who was trying to get Jiyeon's attention
"How come she called you omma then?" Seohyun countered her
"That's because her real omma taught her to call me "Tae omma" that’s why Jiyeon calls me that. And for the record she also calls Jiyong "Ji appa." Taeyeon said she made Jiyeon face Seohyun and Jessica who came back with their drinks.
"Jiyeon-ah~~ this is your Seohyun imo and Sica-imo. They are Tae omma's close friends, say hi to them"
"An-an-annyeong~~" Jiyeon shyly greeted them
"Kyupta!!!! Annyeong Jiyeon-ah!!!" Jessica and Seohyun squealed and brightly greeted the girl who was eyeing them shyly
"Oh I should also tell you both that the only words she knows right now are few so she'll end up calling you omma instead of imo, while for samchons, she'll be calling them all appa. She still doesn't know "imo and samchon" so that's what she would call you girls" she happily told them as she remembered how hard they tried to teach Kyungsan from "Hello, baby" to call them omma
"About the explanation on why the two of them are together I'll tell you later because our immediate concern is Jiyeon's custody" Jessica said since she knew that the girl would be curious about their set-up
"Custody?? You're adopting her unnie??" Seohyun asked Taeyeon
"Ani, not Taeyeon but both of us together" Jiyong answered before Taeyeon, shocking the girl with his conviction in sharing the responsibility
"Chincha!? So does that mean you're really dating?? Omo unnie why didn't you tell us?" Seohyun pouted as the thought of Taeyeon hiding her relationship about Jiyong made her feel that her unnie deosn’t trust them enough...
"Focus Hyunnie" Jessica scolded "we called you because they wouldn't believe me when I told them that to adopt a child marriage is a requirement. You like to read. Maybe you’ve read something about this”
"Is it really true Seohyun-ah? Do I have to get married first before I can adopt Jiyeon?"
The girl nodded at them before answering "Yes unnie because according to our laws one of the requirements for adoption is the marriage certificate of the couple looking for a child, I’ve read found interest in this subject ever since we did “Hello Baby" and because child abandonment has been a problem for our country, so I read some books and other files from the internet on how this can be resolved, adoption was one of the best options given.”
They both sighed in defeat. So what Jessica said was true. They did have to get married if they want Jiyeon…
"And unnie..... I'm sorry to tell you this.... but if Jiyeon is placed in a social welfare facility, you will have a lesser chance of adopting her if you’re not married since there lots of steps needed for adoption...and I'm afraid that she would be adopted by someone else who would have more qualifications than you, adopting a child from a facility is a first come basis, if some other couple gets to her first then you can’t do anything about it anymore”"
"So you mean we can't have her if were not married...." Jiyong said while thinking deeply
They all sat in silence watching Jiyeon as she finally let Jessica carry her
"Oppa, when is her custody hearing?" Jessica asked as she carried Jiyeon
"We have to bring her to court next week... if we must do something to secure her with us then we have until the end of this week to think of it" it was Taeyeon who answered this time as Jiyong was still deep in his thoughts
"What should I do I can't let Jiyeon go to somebody else. Hyung and noona left her in our care, she's family now so I can't let anyone else take her. Unless.....unless we..... If..... if It's the only way I'll do it.... I just hope she'll agree with me and understand where I'm coming from with this idea...........well here goes nothing" Jiyong thought to himself
"Kim Taeyeon ......" he called her seriously
"Remember you promised me that you will stand by my side, that you would be there when I needed someone to talk to, and to listen to me when I rant on and on about my problems, that you won't judge me and that you would be my friend.... Now Kim Taeyeon hear this, I vow that I won't let anything happen to you, I would be your protector and your best friend, I may not be your Minji unnie but I too would be here to listen to you, I would create a haven where you can simply be yourself without fearing what others would think and say....
He stopped as he took a deep breath before continuing
"I won't promise that I won't make you cry and I won't promise to be perfect since you know that I'm not, but I'll promise to always stand by you and that I would do my best for you.... This may not be the right time for what I am about to do Taeyeon-ah and we may get into a lot of trouble if this goes out in public especially in our line of work..... a lot of people may hate us and a lot of people may never accept our relationship...... Tae I know that we still aren't that close and that it's sad to know that tragedy is the one that brought us closer, but I think it's safe to say that we are friends right? We may be far from loving each other yet but at least friendship is a good start right?"
"Jiyong-oppa wha-what are you saying......wha.......what are you......?" Taeyeon asked as Jiyong silently stood up and knelt down in front of her
"Taeyeon-ah, I thought about this deeply, for Jiyeon's sake, for Jin Woo hyung and Minji noona's wish, and for our dreams of having a family of our own,I may not have a ring but I have my sincerity. Right here, right now, in front of your beloved sisters, Kim Taeyeon I ask you please....................
.....marry me...."
