Boys make up 50 percent of the trafficked victims.

This wasn’t the first time he was being sold. It had happened countless of times, but eventually masters grew tired of him and he was sent back. He was considered a beauty in the eyes of the elderly buyers. He took everything they gave him. From whips to burns. But eventually, the lack of screams and cries that he gave made them grow bored of him, so he was eventually returned. He hated this place, but it was his home. He knew that. He knew his place, and he did everything they told him to do.

He remembered when he made a friend 5 years ago. He was only 16 years old. He remembered his friend telling him that she wanted to escape. He remembered listening to every detail, the other said, and relapsing it all to his master. He remembered the spark of hope his friend had in her eyes. Something he hardly saw in someone. He remembered also seeing the look of betrayal, as she realised that it was him who told them of her plan. It was because him that she couldn’t seek freedom.

He had murdered her. He watched her die in the cruellest way because of him, before he himself was tortured. He thought he was doing the right thing. No, he was doing the right thing. What they did to him. When they slit his skin, and burnt his ia. Those were acts of approval. Those showed how they approved of his actions.

They injected him with a liquid. They always did, whenever he was going on display. It made him feel good. It made him feel sensual and lustful. He enjoyed the feeling, but after a while it made him feel drowsy. He felt hot, as he was being pulled into the glass room. He sat on a chair, his hands tied behind him and his legs secured against the chair. He couldn’t leave, but he didn’t care. He had no intentions of leaving anyways.

He felt his face flush, as he felt a tingling and pulsing sensation in his lower region. He was blindfolded, but he knew all eyes from the auctioneers were on him. His breathing grew heavier, and sweat trickled down his face, drenching his clean hair. It was a rare thing for him to get cleaned. He was only showered and cleaned when there were auctions like this. He had to look as alluring and seductive as he could.

He moaned, as the feeling increased. He felt himself sweat more and more, noticing that the minimal clothes he was wearing were also sticking to his skin. As he was feeling this sensation, he could also hear the endless buzzes indicating how many people wanted him.

After what seemed to be an eternity, the buzzes soon slowed down, and eventually, only his breathing could be heard.

Someone had bought him. Someone who probably had a black, cruel heart. Someone who was erted and inhumane. Someone who he now had to call ‘master’.

He felt the drowsiness kicking in, as he was being pulled out of the room. He was now out of this place, but he wasn’t happy. If there was a place worse than here, it was always the master’s place.

He remembered clearly when he was first sold. He was only 7 years old. He thought that he parents, or a friend had rescued him. He was happy. He smiled and laughed, but little had he known that it was where his innocence and purity became tainted and tarnished. He had his childhood stripped away from him, and he couldn’t do anything about it.

~

Myungsoo stared at the fragile male sleeping soundly on his bed.

What the heck had he done?

He still wasn’t able to register what he had done.

He reached for his phone and called the only person on his mind.

“Sunggyu.”

“What’s wrong.”

“I did it.”

“What?” He yawned.

“I bought…” He trailed off, “Him.”

“What?” The other said through the line, more alert. “Already?”

“I went there, and I saw what they did. They drug them. I couldn’t stay, so I just got the first one and left.”

Sunggyu didn’t reply, and Myungsoo had to check to see if the other had hung up, “Do you want me to come over?”

“He might get scared.”

“Hm. What are you going to do?”

“He’s sleeping right now.”

“Okay, just let him be. He obviously won’t talk right now, but just let him relax for a few months and-”

“Few months?!” Myungsoo blurted loudly, making the other stir.

“Maybe even more. They’ve gone through a lot of trauma. We don’t even know what they’ve gone through, but they won’t start talking immediately. Seeing how they are still well hidden, they’ve probably been brainwashed to not say anything.”

“Can’t we just send policemen down there to catch them all?”

“And then what? We don’t know how many people are hidden there. And this is just Korea, Myungsoo. Think logically. Besides, even if they do, they’ll question you as to how you knew, and you’ll be arrested, all the victims will be left to go wherever, and they probably don’t even know where they are. They’ll be homeless, and might even suffer even more. You have to think logically. Once you’ve gathered everything, we go to court, and we present them to the jury and the judge. If we get the approval, then the higher ups are able to act upon it, connecting globally regarding this issue, and they can even manage to set up institutes and welfares for the traffickers after they’ve been saved.”

He had a point. Myungsoo was an impatient man, but he knew that at this very moment, patience was the key, and he had to slowly get everyone he knew on his side, along with all the evidence, he nodded, even though the other couldn’t see him, “Alright. I’ll call you tomorrow.”

Grabbing the files of the victim he had purchased only an hour ago, he left the room and prepared a small bed on the couch for him to sleep on, later that night.

He reviewed the papers. There weren’t much information. Only a photo of him, the price that he had paid and a number.

13 07 27.

He stared at the number, contemplating on whether it was a message or anything important. He sighed. His head was throbbing and he was tired. He decided to lay down on his rather uncomfortable couch and close his eyes, falling into a deep sleep almost instantly.

This story is amazing, you're doing a really good job author nim. ^_^

The funny thing is that after reading this, I stumbled on an article about slaves and human trafficking in my country on facebook. The girl in the article described it pretty much the same way you did, so good job on that too, for the way you portrayed this reality.

Chapter 24: It ended noooo.
Kkkk just kidding.
Although i did find sungyeol sentence unfair i didnt complain about the sentence per se because from the little research i did, slaves are sometimes forced to sell and use drugs and, having in mind that korea law system seems to be hard on those who use it too, the sentence actually is realistic. I dont think you should apologise for the way you wrote your fic, maybe you should have explained that different countries have different laws. But although this ia fiction and people here should know happy endings not always happen in real life and there is not a rainbow and a prince in every end as well, they get upset. My thoughts concerning the way you ended your fic are: it seems that although yeollie went through worse i found him a bit too resilient about the news of the sentence almost as if he knew he wouldnt be there for long. But aside that ,hearing they scaped together to start a new life it was the best that could possibly happen in their circunstances if they wanted to stay together.
So in the end congratulations for writing this till the end even if you didnt plan to, your fic was different and entertaining. I hope to read more from you in the future.
See ya
