Apologies that I do not know much about the Korean grading system or when students have breaks. I only know a little about the Korean education system. Everything that happens is off the top of my head and I'm just really going chapter by chaper. Although I do have a somewhat end goal as in I know who I want the main character to get with. This is also not and is a way to kind of go with the theme that Bangtan has been going for in their album, school and youth and the problems they face. This is just an exaggeration of real life.

Foreword

Murmurs and whispers filtered throughout the plain room. Its’ walls cream, tiles a dirty white from a decade or so of aging. Wooden desks were in uneven rows of five by six, vandalism on them that none of the staff members bothered to clean off. The ticking of a clock could barely be heard over the students who did not know how to be quiet when they talked about someone else, especially when that person was in the same room as them.

That person stood at the front of the classroom braiding her dead ended blonde hair, unsure of where she should sit. She had not been in a place like this in over a year, let alone be in a school. Her head low, she tried not to look at the snicker girls in the middle of the room lounging on the desks as if they were at home. Their skirts so high their cheeks could almost be seen; probably because summer just ended and the temperature was still in the high 30’s.

Unlike her, most of the students had black and brown hair except for a few that had dye half washed out. Her blonde hair was not blonde because of bleach but because of genetics. The girl had most of her mother’s features. The only thing she got from her father’s side was his upturned monolided eyes that were such a dark shade of green that they looked black.

Eventually she spotted a seat not occupied next to the windows, second from the front. The girl made for the desk, not in the mood to stand around like an idiot just because it had been a while since she had to be in a classroom for over fourteen hours. Even if it seemed like this is the start of an anime, her as the main character. She did have the hair for it.

As she arounded the corner for the desk a girl put her small foot on the wooden chair, her silk black hair pulled back into a tight pony tail.

“Seats’ taken.” She smirked, a lollipop in .

How can she eat candy this early in the morning? It was merely minutes from seven thirty.

With her large foot, in comparison to the girls’, she placed it on the pony tail girls’ slender leg and shoved it away, a scowl yearning to be used. However she kept her face blank as she usually did and moved on, spotting another desk unclaimed.

The girl was not in the mood neither to get into a fight on her first day. Especially after a year of fighting in the streets trying to win bet money or for food. She never cared which one just as long as she won. What can she say; it was her only way to survive while her mother was out at work.

The empty desk was near the back of the classroom, next to the window desks. Second to the back then.

The three boys who sat there chatted, thankfully, not about her. One of them, who had a long big head, was playing some game on his IPhone while the one next to him was leaning over bragging about the highest level he had gotten on the game. Meanwhile the one, with big ears half concealed by a bowl haircut made y, stood behind them singing in a deep voice to the music streaming out of the phone so heavenly that it could’ve made her melt. Actually she could have sworn her ovaries were starting to melt as she approached. The standing one had his eyes closed while motioning his hands and arms about as if they were hitting the different notes.

“Is it alright if I sit here?” She gestured to the empty seat in front of the long big headed guy.

The bragging boy looked up at her small frame and smiled with eyes that told her that he bedded many women during the summer holidays.

He his full lips as he said “We don’t mind.”

The girl moved her thick braid over her shoulder as she put her leather satchel on the hook attached to the desk and plunked down into the wooden seat. Immediately she squirmed, its' surface hard on her .

Geez, concrete was softer than this chair!

Ding!

That sound felt weird. Out of place for the girl.

Usually at this time she would either be asleep on someone’s couch. Who’s? She often did not know, her mother usually told her it was a friend’s. If she was not between couches, at this time she would be sitting on cardboard holding out a paper cup, mooching to strangers.

The girl shoved the memories away as a tanned man maundered in, dark circles under his dark eyes. Clearly not a morning person.

The guy that was singing earlier sat at the desk next to hers, next to the window like an anime character. The girl couldn’t hide her smile at the thought of him in anime form, her brain already determining every detail of an illustration.

Gods, how long has it been since she had paper to draw on?

She quietly eased a pencil case and pocket sketchbook out of the leather satchel as the teacher introduced himself to the class. The girl ignored him because he was merely a homeroom teacher and they would not see that much of each other. If it came down to it she would just call him sir and get out the situation as quickly as possible.

She began etching a figure with her artists pencil that had been sharpened so much it was not too far from being a nub. As she did so, the teacher lazily called out names across the classroom.

“Kim Luna.” She wrinkled her nose at the name.

Nonetheless she raised her name and uttered a here not taking her attention off her drawing.

“Kim Taehyung?” Another Kim? Not uncommon, she supposed.

Luna let herself steal a glance in his direction only to notice two things. Firstly, she had gotten the ears entirely wrong. Only half of them peeked out of his straight brown hair, not fully. She subconsciously wrinkled her nose again. And Secondly, he was watching her, eyes ablaze with amazement, a smile quickly turning into a weird grin as he noticed her attention on him. She just rolled her eyes.

Taehyung stifled a distinctive laugh as he asked quietly “Are you drawing me?”

“What? You look like the main character in an anime. I couldn’t help myself.” A smile tugged on her full lips.

She held the picture up enough for the slender boy to get a better look at.

“Awh...” his eyes wide, “That’s pretty good.”

“Nahh,” Luna said in English. She quickly switched back to Korean, “I got the ears all wrong. These are too small, need to make them bigger.” She joked.

Taehyung and his friends could not stop their laugher as it rang through the classroom. She eyed them in fake suspicion.

“Eavesdroppers” She huffed, pulling her attention to the front of the class where the tired teacher stood, arms crossed.

Noticing the teachers’ and the entire class’s attention on them, Luna fiddled with her dead ends again. She whispered an apology. The three boys chocked down on their laughter and said sorry themselves.

With that, the homeroom teacher continued his rollcall.

Sweat dripped down Taehyung’s face as the suns’ unbearable heat pressed down on him. Hair wet and slicked back revealing a couple of red pimples that he could not bother to hide, he rolled up his pants above his knees. The white sleeves of his uniform already pulled up as far as they could go, which only concealed his shoulder muscles.

He was not as muscular as one of his best mates, Jimin, but he did have some biceps thanks to dance class. He enjoyed dance class, if only because he could screw around with Jimin and J-Hope. This usually involved mimicking female KPop idols dances. Their favourite right now would definitely be EXID’s Up & Down.

He lay on his back, baking in the late morning sun, after a small game of basketball. He didn’t love the game as much as the youngest in his group, Jungkook, and Suga, a year above him; it was more about the fun of it than to win. However he still tried to kick the youngest whenever they played.

Speaking of Jungkook, he had not come to the courts this lunch. More likely than not in the cafeteria stuffing his face with food. Taehyung could not blame him, regretting not even grabbing a bite

Taking his right elbow off his eyes, he propped himself up on both elbows. As Taehyung’s eyes adjusted he spotted Suga near the hoop making shot after shot with one of the schools basketballs. He talked to Nam-Joon who stood beside him, probably about grade and the SAT test that they would take in November. That test would determine their future and ultimately who they would marry. A test that meant life or death, literally... Sort of.  Two students last year killed themselves once they got home after the test, certain that they had failed. Suicide was so often during November, especially the test day, which rooftops of schools were locked off so students would not go there during the test to jump off.

Taehyung blinked away the depressing thoughts. He was sure Suga and Nam-Joon would do great on the test, more so Nam-Joon than Suga. He was the top student in the country last time he checked and would stagger out of that test with definite A’s.

Suddenly the clang of metal on metal came from the fence of the perimeter of the basketball courts. Along with his head, the two third year boys turned their heads towards the sound. That new girl was scaling the fence, a small loaf of bread in , as Jungkook chased after her. She did not seem to mind the fact that her crotch was exposed. Too shocked to not look away, he noticed that she had some sort of bike shorts beneath.

Taehyung tried to remember her name but couldn't for the life of him.

As she neared the top Jungkook slowed to a stop, not bothering trying to climb the fence knowing he will get in trouble if he did. Instead he started picking up small stones that surrounded the courts.

The girl got to the top and took the bread out of . “IT’S JUST BREAD!” She yelled, clearly annoyed at his determination to get it back. “You had a plate full of food, why are you bothering about bread?” She said something under her breath that Taehyung could not hear.

“You have to come down from there some time!” Jungkook uttered, ignoring her question.

The girl ignored him back and rose to her feet on the thin bar at the top of the fence, balancing with ease as if she had done this before.

Jungkook, like a total , began throwing the small stones he had collected at her.

Immediately, Taehyung and Suga began jogged to the youngling, him with his hands up, “Stop, stop, stop!” His voice deep and quick.

Whether a stone hit her or not, merely throwing one could put off her balance causing her to possibly fall.

“Do you want her to break her neck, you ?” Suga snarled.

“She stole my bread!” Pathetic excuse.

“You should listen to them!” And she wasn’t helping!

The girl rounded the corner of the fence and made her was the basketball hoop.

“You can’t do anything until she comes down.” Taehyung paused, “Why are you getting so worked up on bread anyways?”

“When was the last time you saw our middle school serve bread? It’s usually white rice.”

It was true, they went to the same middle school and the only times they had bread as a side dish for lunch was during Western holidays like Christmas and Halloween. More often than not there would be an assortment of spreading’s next to the display of bread. Jungkook always loved it when they were being served.

“You do realise that supermarkets and convenient stores sell bread, right?” The girl said as she stopped at the spot on the fence that was nearest the basketball hoop.

She isn’t going to jump, is she?

“I don’t have money!” Jungkook answered,

“Neither do I, that’s why I stole it!” She said back, staring at the hoop with a blank face. He was sure her brain was calculating the jump.

Wait, she doesn’t have money? Then what is she doing at a school?

She leaped, arms outstretched and bread in mouth. Her small torso slammed into the board of the basket. The only things that could be seen of the girl was her pale slender legs, a black skirt coming down to mid thigh and worn school shoes, and pale fingers curled around the top of the board. She swung her body so she could hook a foot onto the square pole that held the basketball hoop in place and lifted herself onto it, her legs disappearing but her short torso popping up.

The girl bent over so she could rest her head on her left hand while the other held the bread, elbows resting on the top of the hoop. A cheeky smile made an appearance on her face. Meanwhile Nam-Joon stood by the hoop looking up at her, a smile tugging at his pink lips, and Jungkook, Taehyung and Suga made their way next to him.

“If you don’t have money, why don’t you get a job?!” Jungkook yelled at her.

“Fourteen hours at school then another two to five hours in a workplace? NO THANKS!” She screamed back. “I couldn't even get a job if I tried because I'm a student !" She was clearly irritated.

This was getting out of hand and quickly. If the girl didn’t have money than it explained why she stole the bread, he didn’t need to tell Jungkook. So he said to the youngling as quiet as he could, “Is someth- “

“How in the hell did you get up there?” J-Hope interupted, fashionably late as always.

He approached the group with Jimin by his side. They had gone to the front of the school to talk to one of their friends who had lived near Jimin and had graduated not too long ago. Jimin had told him before going that the guy was near the school on some errand for work and wanted to drop by to ask him how he was doing on his first day back. J-Hope had decided to tag along.

“Well I climbed the fence while that guy” she pointed with the bread at Jungkook, “chased me for some bread. Then I decided, might as well just lazearound on the basketball hoop, as you do.” She acted so casual about it, as if it were a daily occurrence for her.

“Jungkookie!” Jimin said as he hugged him from behind, careful that his groin doesn’t touch Jungkook’s . Jungkook began slapping him at his powerful arms but Jimin wouldn’t budge. “Now why would you chase such a cute girl like Luna?”

Taehyung tipped his head back, “Ahh Luna” He repeated to himself at remembering the name once he heard it again.

“Exactly!” Luna agreed jokingly.

Jungkook lifted his arms above his head and crossed his legs, causing him to slip through Jimin’s arms like a toddler that does not want to be held. Despite Jimin’s efforts to keep the taller youngling in his arms, Jungkook’s eventually touched the ground.

Ding!

The bell finally went.

Luna rose herself to full height and placed the bread in once more, bite marks and her saliva riddled all over one side of it. She dropped from the basketball hoop; her arms out as if they were wings, and rolled as soon as her feet touched the concrete. Back on the ground she took a big bite, for her at least, out of the bread because her saliva had already stated to dissolve it.

Jungkook immediately approached her, still determined for that bread. He swiped for it, she twisted away.

“MINE!” Luna said through a mouth full of bread, holding the uneaten bread in between her small s as if she were a child.

She began her way to the school building but the boy grabbed her by the elbow.

“Please?” He pleaded.

Luna looked up at him, a pout on her full lips. Jungkook was a full head taller than her and likely more muscular than her beneath that baggy uniform he wore. So she just rolled her eyes and tore the bread in half, offering the side she had already bitten from.

When he hesitated she let out a low laugh and shoved the other half into his chest, a smile tugging on her lips. The group of boys were ahead of them already complaining about the next few hours they will have to be in the classroom.

Jungkook and Luna walked back together not saying a word but eating instead.
