his palms are sweating madly, but gyeo junhoo's too scared to put either hand under the table and swipe them against the fabric of his pants.
it's highly terrorising for him, to be seated in the well-known producer's office, and all junhoo can do is to cross his fingers together and freeze in his current position. his legs grip together uncomfortably tight — he was used to crossing his legs and stretching them every now and then — and he nods obligingly whenever an important point is read out.
junhoo can't afford to offend the pd-nim, since he needed the income to stabilise his family in a small apartment of seoul, and he knows all too well how the older man flares up whenever something doesn't go his way. park jinyoung has seen the worst in gyeo junhoo, from the time the latter decided to — and unsuccessfully — leave the company and lead a normal life, to the day he was caught having an intimate relationship with a trainee from the company's latest reality show, sixteen.
he cannot possibly risk being kicked out, and so junhoo agrees to all the terms that was read out; being responsible for the safety, health, behaviour and wellbeing of seven grown teenagers and men, reporting their whereabouts to the company every two hours, and ensuring everything goes well.
everything goes well. even an idiot knows nothing is smooth-sailing in the entertainment industry. rough seas may make a good sailor, but there's nothing sailor-like about junhoo except for his sailor mouth. he feels like he's selling his life for the meagre salary, but he doesn't have much of a choice.
gyeo junhoo is everything but excited when he drags his suitcase into the empty apartment that would be night's dormitory.
HE ACTUALLY HAS TO RUSH — THE FIRST MEMBER OF NIGHT IS DUE TO ENTER THE DORMITORY SOON, AND JUNHOO HAS A LIST OF THINGS HE NEEDS TO DO, AND CHECKING THE BATHROOM FOR HOT WATER IS ONE OF THEM.
HIS ALLOCATED BEDROOM IS EMPT OF LOVE; IT WASN'T AS IF HIS RENTED APARTMENT HAD FELT LIKE HOME ANYWAY, YET HE DETESTS HOW HE'S ALREADY SOLD HIMSELF TO HIS OCCUPATION. THERE IS A SINGLE BED WITH CLEAN WHITE SHEETS, A REASONABLY-SIZED DESK TABLE FOR HIS ADMINISTRATIVE WORK AND A SMALL CLOSET IN THE CORNER, NEXT TO THE WINDOWS.
EVERYTHING WAS BASIC, BUT HE KNOWS THE LIVING ENVIRONMENT IN THIS DORMITORY WAS WAY BETTER THAN THOSE IN THE TRAINEES' BUNKS — HE'D LIVED THERE FOR SIX YEARS. IT WAS MORE THAN ENOUGH TIME TO KNOW EXACTLY HOW TERRIBLE IT WAS TO BE RESTING IN A BEDROOM WITH FIVE OTHER BOYS.
HE DOES A QUICK CHECK OF THE FACILITIES IN THE APARTMENT, INCLUDING THE BATHROOM, AND EVERYTHING'S DONE EXCEPT THAT THE REFRIGERATOR IS PRETTY MUCH EMPTY. AND JUNHOO REALISES HE'S HUNGRY; WHY WOULD HE EVEN BE? HE'S JUST HAD HIS LUNCH A FEW HOURS BEFORE.
THE DOORBELL RINGS, AND JUNHOO'S LIFE AS A MANAGER OFFICIALLY BEGINS.
