The past weeks have been crazy for Seunghyun, his firm was expanding into China and he was constantly at work. His days were filled with contracts, presentations, clients, and a whole lot of stress. The only time Seunghyun went home was to sleep and that too, only for a few hours. Dara’s work had increased too; she was taking a bigger work load because of Fashion Week. It’s been a week since he saw Dara since their schedules didn’t match. When Dara was heading to bed, Seunghyun walked in the door and when Seunghyun woke up, Dara was already gone. But finally after weeks of stress Dara finally had a few days off to take a break. She was ready to do nothing but sleep, eat, and be a bum. The house was quiet since Seunghyun was out at a meeting despite it being a Saturday. Dara missed him, when she did have a small break in between work she’d try to text him to ask how his day was going but he was usually too busy to hold a conversation. But most of the time she spent her time with Youngkwang. Even her time with him was decreasing because of all his international activities. Youngkwang had also started acting and that ruined their chances to meet even more. Life was chaotic and Dara felt slightly empty but she didn’t know why. She had her dream job, had an amazing boyfriend, a best friend, and great friends. Still, something didn’t feel right. Dara chose to ignore her feelings by blaming it on the fact that she might be PMSing.

She was in their living room sprawled out on the couch watching TV when the door bell rang. She wondered who it could be since Seunghyun would just walk in. She opened the door to a man, he was slim and well dressed. But Dara was still confused.

“Yes?”

“Hello, is this where Choi Seunghyun and Sandara Park live?”

“Yes?” She wondered how the man knew who they were.

“Hello, I’m here from the court. We make these visits to check up and learn more about the people who have requested for a divorce.” Dara’s jaw almost dropped when she heard the man’s words.

“Oh hello, I wasn’t expecting you to come today.”

“Yes, these visits are usually random. Can I come in?”

“Of course.” Dara was super nervous even though she knew she wasn’t doing anything wrong. She watched the man as he observed the house.

“You have a very nice home.”

“Thank you.”

“Is Mr. Choi Seunghyun not home right now?”

“No, I’m sorry he’s at a meeting but he actually should be home in about a half hour.”

“Oh that’s great. In the mean time, do you mind if I ask you some questions?”

“No, go ahead.” They both took a seat at the dinner table, the man set his folder in front of him while Dara played with her cold fingers under the table.

“There’s no need to be so nervous, it’s just procedure to do this.” Dara could only give a tight nod to his words.

“So what are the reasons for your divorce with your husband?”

“The marriage was pre arranged by our parents while we were children and we do not support their decision.”

“I see. Have there been any physical or verbal fights or arguments between you two?”

“No, never. We’re civil.”

“You don’t love him?” Dara took a moment to answer his question because she wondered if that was really a question he was supposed to ask her.

“Uh no I don’t love him. Not in that sense anyway.” The man looked up from his notes at the last part. His face showed some confusion.

“What do you mean?”

“I don’t love him as a wife would love a husband, but we are close. As friends.”

“Ah, I see.” The questions went on for a little longer when they heard the front door being opened, Seunghyun was home.

“I’m sorry, Ms. Park can I use your restroom?” Dara nodded and gestured that it was to the right.

Seunghyun came into the kitchen, “Hey, why are you sitting here?”

Dara immediately jumped up to his side and said in a whisper “A man from the court is here, remember how Samchun said they’d randomly stop by? He was asking me questions, I think he might ask you as well.”

“Oh really? Where is he?” He was putting down his briefcase and coat on the dinner table next to the man’s notes when he noticed the pen.

“He went to the bathroom. Seunghyun? What’s wrong?” Seunghyun picked up the pen and had a strange look on his face now. He let out a deep breath and walked towards the bathroom.

“Seunghyun? Where are you going?” She followed after him and stopped at the middle of the hall only to find Seunghyun banging on the bathroom door.

“Yah! Come out right now!” Dara’s eyes widened in shock as she ran to his side to make him stop. Any wrong move on his part could make things worse for them.

“Stop it Seunghyun! You’re going to make things worse. Why are you shouting?!” But the bathroom door finally opened and Seunghyun’s arm reached in to grab the man by his shirt. Dara couldn’t believe her eyes. When he brought out the man into the hall, she noticed how the man looked slightly amused, and Seunghyun very annoyed. Dara was confused.

“What’s going on?”

“This is the man that came from the court?” Seunghyun asked while still holding the man by his shirt. Dara nodded in response but now she wasn’t so sure.

“He’s not from the court Dara, he’s Kwon Jiyong, my business partner and idiot friend.”

“Idiot best friend,” Jiyong made it a point to emphasize the second word. Dara could only stare at the two in astonishment.

“Dude, let go this shirt’s expensive.” Jiyong shrugged out of Seunghyun’s grasp and straightened out his shirt and tie as he finally turned to face Dara. He stuck out his hand as he said “I’m Kwon Jiyong, Seunghyun’s one and only friend.” Seunghyun had another urge to punch the guy in his stomach.

“But, but you said you were from the court and-” Dara was too stunned to continue.

“I lied. I knew Seunghyun was in a meeting so I came here to finally meet his ‘wife.’”

Before Dara could say anything, Seunghyun spoke up. “Yah, you said you had an important family emergency! This was it? I swear to god Ji I’m gonna kill you.”

“Of course! I see you as family so obviously your wife is considered family as well. I felt the dire need to meet my sister in law.” With every word coming out of Jiyong’s mouth, Dara just became more speechless. Seunghyun could only massage his temple to ward off his headache as he walked towards the kitchen. Jiyong followed, and soon Dara too.

“How did you know it was me anyway?” Jiyong asked as he took a seat back down onto the dinner table.

“Your pen, I gave that to you.” Jiyong looked down at the pen next to him and looked back up at Seunghyun in awe.

“Damn, why are you an architect? You should be a detective.” Seunghyun shook his head in annoyance as he downed a large glass of water. As he set the glass back down on the counter he saw Dara just staring at them.

“Dara are you okay?”

“Yeah, it’s just a lot to take in. I didn’t expect this at all.”

“I’m sorry for Ji, he has a few loose screws.”

“That’s rude.”

“It’s true.”

“You guys are crazy.” Dara was finally recovering as she walked to the fridge to get a water bottle. She stood next to Seunghyun as she drank.

“Aw aren’t you two cute?” Jiyong’s crossed his arms as he leaned back into his chair as if to get a better look at them. Seunghyun made a motion of throwing his glass at Jiyong's face.

“Is no one going to offer me anything? I’m a guest at your house. You’re not being very good hosts you know.” He stood up too now and walked to the opposite side of the counter.

“Oh, I’m sorry would you like something to drink?”

“That’s more like it,” Jiyong had a very satisfied smile on his face. Dara went back to the fridge to pour Jiyong a drink but Seunghyun closed it before she could take anything.

“You don’t have to be nice to him, he’s leaving.”

“I am?” Jiyong looked a little confused.

“Yes. You are.” Seunghyun glared at him. Now that the shock was gone, she realized how entertaining the two friends were. Seunghyun was the taller of the two and seemed to be the more mature one but it was obvious the two were very close.

“But I don’t want to. I want to get to know my sister in law more. Her answers were very insightful,” he gave Dara a small thumbs up and she couldn’t help but smile.

“No wonder! I wasn't sure if some of the questions you asked were relevant.” She shook her head at him but it was obvious how proud Jiyong felt about his actions.

“What’d he ask you?”

“Nothing! That’s just mine and Dara’s secret. Right?” Jiyong gave her a look as if pleading her not to tell Seunghyun. Dara could only laugh and nod at his antics.

“You can’t encourage him Dara, he only gets worse.”

“Please we both know you love me, you don’t have to hide it. Dara promised not to get jealous.” Seunghyun’s arms flew to grab Jiyong again but this time Jiyong was faster and moved away before any damage was done. Seeing Seunghyun interact with Jiyong brought out a side of Seunghyun she never saw before, it was interesting.

“Let’s go out,” Jiyong suddenly exclaimed and both Dara and Seunghyun were surprised.

“Why?”

“It’s been a really long week and so has the other few weeks, we need to just relax. Let’s go eat something good.” That sounded amazing to Dara and she replied with an “I agree, let’s go. It’ll be fun.”

“There you go! 2 vs.1 majority rules. Get your in the car.” Seunghyun agreed that they all needed to relax but he just didn’t want to admit that Ji was right.

“I’ll go get dressed. Give me a few minutes.” Dara went in her room to change while the two guys waited.

“You’re really crazy you know that?” Seunghyun came over to sit on the dinner table.

“Dara seems nice. She’s really cute too.”

“Back off.”

“Whoa, no need to get all serious. It was just an observation. But why so protective? Because you want her?” Jiyong was knowingly pushing his best friend’s buttons.

“No, I don’t want her. She has a boyfriend, plus she deserves someone way better than you.”

“Alright, that’s just hurtful.” Seunghyun giving Ji a knowing look.

“You have a new girl every week.”

“Yeah, so when I find a girl I can tell her I changed my ways just for her. Romantic right?” Ji’s answer was so cheeky and Jiyong like, Seunghyun couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

“You’re an idiot.”

“So are you. How can you let her have a boyfriend?”

“Let? She’s a grown woman she can do whatever she wants.”

“You know what I mean. Work your charms man, make her go weak at the knees.”

“You seriously need to stop watching so many dramas. You’re getting so cheesy.”

“They’re not cheesy!”

“What’s not cheesy?” The two men looked over at Dara who was now dressed and standing at the corner of the room.

“Ji has an obsession with Korean dramas, especially the romantic comedies.”

“DUDE!” Seunghyun only shrugged as he walked away to put on his shoes, leaving Ji and a laughing Dara alone.

“It’s alright, I like romantic comedies too.” She told him as she went to put on her shoes as well.

“I’m not obsessed. Hyung is lying.”

“Hyung? I thought you two were the same age.”

“Nah, I’m 28.”

“But he acts like an 8 year old.” Seunghyun interjected quickly.

“You’re one to talk.”

“You two act like a couple.” Dara couldn’t stop laughing at their childish banter. They were in the elevator now as the conversation continued.

“I have to say though Dara, you look very nice.” Dara raised her eyebrows at his blunt compliment.

“Thank you.”

“Ji is the typical bachelor so don’t mind him.” Dara nodded understandingly at Seunghyun’s comment.

“Seriously you’re ruining my image here.”

“And what image is that?”

“Cool, collected, and chic.” Seunghyun and Dara burst out laughing at his answer and he could only scowl.

“You two .” The three were walking towards Seunghyun’s car now and were creating quite a buzz on the streets. All three of them were very attractive and everyone was turning their heads as they walked past them.

“Where are we going?”

“Do you like sushi?” Seunghyun asked her as he settled into the driver’s seat.

“Yeah, sushi’s good.” Dara was in the backseat after Jiyong called out shotgun as a joke.

“Me and hyung have this favorite restaurant we go to whenever we eat. We go so often they know our order and everything.” Jiyong turned in his seat to look at Dara as he continued. “You should feel special, this is the first time Seunghyun hyung asked someone other than me to come with him to the restaurant.” Dara raised her eyebrows in surprise and couldn’t help but feel happy at Jiyong’s words.

“Must be a really special restaurant.” Dara looked over at Seunghyun through the front view mirror and he looked up as well and sent her his signature soft smile. This didn’t go unnoticed by Jiyong.

The drive went on with light conversation until Dara’s phone rang. Seeing Youngkwang’s name made her smile immediately.

“Hey!”

“I miss you.” Dara laughed at the first words that Youngkwang would always say when he called her.

“Why? You’re not having fun filming?”

“I am, but I still miss you. I feel bad that I had to cancel our date because of this random schedule. I’d rather be with you.”

“That’s sweet.”

“Yah, why aren’t you reciprocating the sweet talk?” Dara laughed and answered with “I’m in the car with Seunghyun and his friend Jiyong, we’re going out to eat.”

“Two guys huh? Is this Jiyong guy cute?” Dara rolled her eyes at his question but she knew he was joking.

“Yes, very.”

“Yah!”

“I’m just being honest.”

“You’re being too honest. But I want to meet Seunghyun one day.”

“Why?”

“I should meet my girlfriend’s husband, don’t you think?”

“Very funny. But yeah I think it’d be fun if you two met, I’ll ask him.”

“Alright, I have to go now. I love you, don’t have too much fun without me.”

“I love you too, bye. Be careful while filming.” Throughout the call Jiyong kept glancing at Seunghyun and while his face showed no reaction, his hands whitened as his grasp on the steering wheel tightened when Dara ended the call by saying I love you. Such an idiot, were the only words going through Jiyong’s head as he made note of this.

“So Dara” Jiyong was peering over his seat to look at her again.

“Yes?”

“Who was that?” And right on cue Seunghyun says “Stop being nosy.” But Jiyong didn’t care.

“You stop being nosy, keep driving. Me and Dara are having a conversation.” She could only shake her head at them but responded anyway.

“That was Youngkwang, my boyfriend.”

“Ooh. Can I ask about him?” Seunghyun’s glare could burn a hole into the side of Jiyong’s head.

“Sure.”

“What does he do?”

“He’s a model, but right now he’s filming a drama. A romantic comedy actually.” Dara felt smug as she said the last part. Jiyong’s scowl returned as Seunghyun burst out laughing once again. But Jiyong ignored them.

“How did you two meet?” Seunghyun’s laugh quickly died out.

“I was an assistant photographer and he was the model. So we started talking and I’ve met him several times over different photo shoots.”

“That’s nice. Did he ask you out?”

“Ji, stop asking so many questions.” Seunghyun couldn’t even hit him because he was driving.

“No, actually I asked him out.” Jiyong’s surprise was clearly shown on his face and Dara laughed.

“Good for you, we need more girls like you.”

“I only did it because Seunghyun told me I should take a risk.”

“Ah, did he now?” Jiyong looked over at Seunghyun now with a feigned interest on his face to which Seunghyun could only say “I’m going to kick your when we get there.” But of course, Jiyong ignored the comment once again.

“You’re lucky to have Hyung give you relationship advice.”

“I am?”

“Yeah, his advice is the best. Now if only he listened to his own advice, things would be different.”

***UPDATEEEE! I thoroughly enjoyed writing this chapter because of Jiyong’s character. I realized that even though I named the character Jiyong, I was thinking of Seungri as I wrote it lol. But, I’m too lazy to go back and change everything so I kept it as Jiyong. I hope you enjoyed it! I know I’ve been gone for a really long time especially since I only wrote 8 chapters.
