"Wait for me", he had whispered in her ears

"Chaerin..." he sighed as his hands caressed her dark hair while holding her in his embrace.

He could see it clearly now. Her soft features. Those round cheeks. Those feline eyes that seemed to smile and glint just for him and no one else. And then her lips. Her plump soft lips that spoke his name with such tender love and care. Something he had never known or thought could have been gifted towards him.

"Jiyong..", she responded "You will come back right? You-You won't forget me?" She spoke softly as those sharp brown eyes started to stream with tears.

"It's a promise." He whispered into her hair as he gave her one final embrace

A promise that he had shattered. For two years later here he was, on the road with his army, putting up his unflappable barrier . And he had left her alone to wait. He hadn't been strong enough to challenge his authority. So here, on this night he sat up in the middle of the dark quiet sky tossing and turning as the memory of her failed to fade from his mind.
