“Can we be friend, Haejin?” He asks while looking straight into my eyes. This is the first time a human actually asking me to be friend with them. And I still couldn’t believe it. As much as I want to be alone, I don’t like to be alone and sometimes I wonder how it feels like to have a friend because I never had one. But it’s Kai the guy that everyone likes in school we’re talking about. The consequences on talking to him are already big enough then how about being a friend.

Just friend… 
 

A friend that you can talk to; a friend that always next to you but I don’t trust people ever since the Hana things. That backstabber …
 

“Haejin?” I came back to my sense after he called my names. I look around and then my gaze automatically landed on Kai. “Hm?” Is all that I say. I am much dumfounded. “I ask you if you want to be friend with me. I never had friendship with girl so you better feel special.” He said proudly and couldn’t help but to roll my eyes.

Conceited as always, what do we expect anyway? Especially if he has ‘the’ looks that everyone worship and cherished every single days. 
 

“Why would I feel special?” I ask back and he chuckled. “Because out of the girl out there that want to be friend with me, I choose you; even though you don’t have the intention to be friend with me.” My heart skipped a beat but I knew he won’t notice since I’m really good at hiding expression. Our food finally arrived. 
I couldn’t be more thankful because I don’t know what to answer. “The food is here why don’t we eat?” I ask when I saw his eyes still staring at me even though the food is infront of him. 
 

“The foo—” 
 

“Can we be friend?”

and at this point i know i can't dodge his question any further 
 

Should I accept or not?
 

I sighed, “Fine, let’s be friend, Kai…” I said bravely because you know how much courage it takes to say something embarrassing like this. 
He smiled “It’s the first time I heard you say my name, friends…” He then eats his food while smiling. I hide my smile with lowering my head.

Damn it!

Kai POV
 

“Fine, let’s be friend, Kai…” 
 

Ok wait what?
 

I expect her to reject my offer since she’s always like that. But then she accepts it which I’m not complaining but heck this girl is very hard to read. 
 

Second
 

She just called me by my name. 
 

I smiled. 
“It’s the first time I heard you say my name, friends…” 
 

I ate my food while smiling and I don’t know why. Don’t smile Kai she must’ve think you’re crazy. Both of us eat in silent; only the music that companies us to eat. 
After we eat, we decided to stay a little longer at the restaurant because it’s still raining outside. I played with my phone while Haejin look outside. She looks like a lost puppy with that kind of expression. I wonder what she’s thinking. She seems to be in deep thoughts that she did not notice I was staring at her. I took my phone and then take a picture of her while staring out of the window.  
 

“Haejin, do you have any siblings?” I ask; breaking the silent. She sits properly and fixes her hair. She simply pulls them back yet she manages to look like she just went out from the saloon. 
 

“I don’t have any siblings, how about you? Do you have any siblings?” She asks back while looking straight into my eyes. She looks tired. 
 

“I don’t have one either, so we’re like the same?” I asked and she smiled while nodded. “You know kai; I don’t actually talk to human this long, what are you actually?” She asks and I laughed. What kind of question is that? 
 

“You’re ridiculous Haejin, if I’m not a human then what would I be?” I ask her and she act like she’s thinking. “Can you be an alien? Because I don’t want to change my perspective about human…” She said calmly and I stare at her in the eyes. Why do I feel this girl is a sad girl? 
 

“Haejin can I ask you one question?” She nodded as her rest her head on her palm. I like to see her like this; it feels like she’s giving me her full attention. 
 

“Why do you hate human?” I know this sound stupid but I just wanna know why. Why did she hates human when she, herself is a human. 
 

“You wanna know why? Because they’re very cruel and mean…and I don’t like them because they are very very very…” She takes a deep breath and smiled. “Never mind, I don’t hate them, I just dislike them.” I smiled; she looked very cute if she put an emotion when she talks. I never see her like this. 
 

“I used to hate girl…” Those words come out from my mouth unexpectedly. 
 

“Why?” She asks me with her eyes full of concern and this is the first time I felt someone is actually concern about me. And once again, I did not expect her to ask me back despite to her sarcastic attitude but she did so. 
 

“Is it okay if I tell you this?” 
 

“Just tell me everything Kai, what are friend for?” She said and gave me a little smile. She seems to smile a lot after we become friend. 
“My mum died and after the death of my mum, he marries one of his assistance…” I looked up and saw she look at me with a frown. 
 

“I hate girls; I play with their feelings and ignore them ever since that day…” She then takes my hand and holds it tight. I did not expect this once again… everything about her is unexpected. 
 

“I’m sorry…” She muttered quietly as she looked down. “It’s okay, it’s not your fault anyway…can we change the topics? It’s getting gloomy here.” I said with a laugh. She then smile and pulled away her hands from mine. It’s weird how her hands are warm when she looked like an ice cold. 
She then looked at her watch and then checked her phone. “I think it’s too late now, I’m afraid my mum will scold me. Can we go?” She asks and I nodded. 

Your POV
 

After Kai paid the bills, we went outside to his car and then drove away. “Are you going to school tomorrow?” He asks me and I hummed. I’m getting lazy to talk already because I have talked a lot this day. The car ride was silent; both of us did not talk. The music that was playing in his radio was all instruments. I’m guessing Kai really like this type of songs. 
“You like instrument music?” I ask and he nodded. 
 

“Yeah, I don’t like the one with lyrics because it makes me sick…” I smiled at his answer. 
 

“True, I don’t like them either, I like this kind of songs because it soothing…” 
 

“You like this type of genre too? Well, we have something in common.” 
 

“Yeah, I like it. Aren’t you proud to have the same type of music as me?” I ask sarcastically and he laughed. “Wow that words sounds familiar.” 
 

“Glad that you know…” 
 

The ride was fun; we talked a lot and laughed. It’s been a while since I laughed like this. “I think I’ll see you tomorrow?” He asks and I nodded. I was about to un-buckled the seat belt but then he stopped me. 
 

“Can you give me your number?” He asks politely and I couldn’t help but to smile. I’m so glad that he asks for my number because I’m not gonna asks for it because I am too shy. “Sure.”
 

I took out my phone and give it to him. He typed some number and the call it; his phone then ring. “I’ll call you tonight?” 
 

“It’s up to you, bye…” I waved and he waved back at me. 
 

As soon as I went into my bedroom, I couldn’t help but to smile. This is the first time I made a choice and did not regret it. Because usually when I make something or deciding something, I would always wrong or fail. But today, being a friend with the non-chemical Kai is not a mistake at all. 

I am so glad… 

Kai POV
 

After taking a refreshing shower, I throw my body on my bed and went thru my phone. I went to my SNS account and post a picture of Haejin looking out but I cropped the face so only her uniform is showing. I caption the picture as ‘my new bestfriend ♥” and then post it. I received a lot of comment asking who’s that person is but I just shut them out. I won’t tell anyone who is that because I know Haejin will in a huge trouble if I did that.
And for the first time after a long time…
 

I feel very happy 
 

… and I’m glad….
