It is said that the 3 sisters of the Jung family are all different, her older sister, Jessica is feminine and elegant, second sister, Krystal is chic and she, Shirley is more on the cute side. However, she didn't inherit the "ice princess" title as although she had similar personality, she doesn't have that cold vibes probably due to her facial features.

As the unknown 3rd sister of the famous "Jungsis", Shirley was well-protected by both her parents and sisters whereby little people know of her existence. She was only 7 years old when Jessica, her older sister debuted and 9 when Krystal debuted, both of them didn't want anyone to disturb her baby sister and want her to be able to grow up just like any child out there, hence they never mentioned her before. But Shirley grew up watching their performances and soon they were her role models, she too wanted to shine just like her sisters. When she mention wanting to audition for SM too, everybody in the family supported and respected her decision, and so she successfully became a trainee in 2013.

The unfortunate incident that happened in 2014 made Shirley's position really awkward. Everybody expected her to hate SM and to hate the other members of her sister's group, but in fact, she didn't. She didn't want to jump to conclusions just knowing one side of the story, but of course, she's on her sister side but that doesn't mean she's gonna start hating everybody, she still wants to debut as a SM artist and be part of the big family. However to avoid any potential problems, Shirley did made sure she don't look too close to the snsd members but doesn't avoid them as she see no purpose in doing so, they are still good people to her.

They had been very close since young but somewhat drifted apart alittle when both of them debuted and started having very busy schedules. Sometimes they barely return home but whenever they did, Shirley was always afraid of disturbing them seeing how tired they seem. She got very envious when both of her sisters get to perform together or get showed in the same variety show. However, after Shirley became a trainee at SM, both Jessica and Krystal contacted and visited her more and they became closer during that period of time.
