Personality. 

Akihito is the type of guy who really can and will achieve great things in the world. He knows how good it feels to develop himself and contribute his abilities to the world, and also enjoys motivating others to greater personal achievements than those others thought they were capable of. He´s typically well regarded and popular amongst his peers, the type of person who is frequently voted “class president" or “home coming king”. He embodies the best in a culture, and others are able to see their hopes and dreams mirrored in him. He believes in himself and in developing his talents and capacities. He acts as a living “role model” and paragon because of his extraordinary embodiment of socially valued qualities. He knows that he´s worth the effort it takes to be “the best that he can be”. And his success at doing so inspires others to invest in their own self-development.
Akihito wants to make sure his life is a success; He will not be a “nobody.” To this end, Akihito has learned to perform in ways that will garner him praise and positive attention. As a child, he learned to recognize the activities that were valued by his parents or peers, and put his energy into excelling in those activities. He also learned how to cultivate and develop what is attractive or impressive about himself. For Akihito this was music and his physical looks. However he wants success not so much for the things that success will buy or for the power and feeling of independence that it will bring. No he wants success because he´s afraid of disappearing into a chasm of emptiness and worthlessness: without the increased attention and feeling of accomplishment which success usually brings, Akihito fears that he is nobody and has no value.
The problem is that, in the headlong rush to achieve what he believes will make him more valuable, Akihito has become so alienated from himself that he no longer knows what he truly wants, or what his real feelings or interests are. Thus he´s easy prey to self–deception, deceit, and falseness of all kinds. From his earliest years, as Akihito has become dependent on receiving attention from others and in pursuing the values that others reward, he has gradually lost touch with himself. Step by step, his own inner core, his “heart’s desire,” has been left behind and he no longer recognizes it. He is not known as a “feeling” person; rather, he´s a man of action and achievement. It is as if he´s “put his feelings in a box” so that he can get ahead with what he wants to achieve. He has come to believe that emotions get in the way of his performance, so he substitutes thinking and practical action for feelings.
Thus, the fundamental dilemma of Akihito is that he has not been allowed to be who he really is and to manifest his own authentic qualities. At a young age, he got the message that he was not allowed to have feelings and be himself: he has to, in effect, be someone else to be accepted. Akihito not only heard it, he began to live by it. The attention he received by performing in a certain way was his oxygen, and he needed it to breathe. Unfortunately, it came at a high price. The price of not knowing who the hell he actually is.

Background.

Akihito Kobayashi was born of December 10th 1992 in Moriya, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. At the young age of 5 he was into the life of fame as he became a child model with the child modeling agency Sugar and Spice. He had to look pretty, act nice and that was it. And so his childhood was spent in front of a camera with hyis parents telling him how to act. He learned that if he acted in specific ways he would get attention and be praised. His modeling made him popular amongst the other kids and this also brought him attention and praise.
in 2004 at the age of 12, Akihito was moved from Sugar And Spice to the newly e4stablished modeling agency Amuse Models whose child devision was known as Amuse Kids. Here he modeled until he turned 17 and then he was transferred to their acting division. He didn´t get any roles until he starred in the Japanese drama Sign in 2011 in the role of Tobi Ibaraki. He´d continue to act in various Japanese films and dramas until 2016 where he was transferred to the Korean branch of Amuse Inc. He had discovered throughout his time as an actor that his real passion was music and so he had requested a transfer to the Korean branch. It would then maybe be possible for him to make it in the kpop world. Here he started training to maybe debut at some point. However when late 2017 rolled around and there had been no talk of debuting a new group any time soon Akihito decided to leave the company and continue his training on his own. And so that´s what he did until he heard that the auditions for the second season of International Idol had opened. And he decided that now was his chance.

Relationships. 

Fellow contestant / Baek Daehyeon / 24 / Trainee / See app (I´m lazy) / Dee´s extremely fascinated by Akihito. She finds him to be quite interesting. They´re both powerful, assertive and efficient and so they work together quite well. Dee is drawn to Akihito like a moth to a flame and in fact she may harbor a small crush on the older man. Akihito on the other hand finds Dee to be interesting and the two of them make up a great pair in terms of work... But in a more personal relationship they´d definitely heads due to their similarities in personality.

Trainee Life.
Training at Amuse wasn´t exactly easy on Akihito. He wasn´t good at korean and he was a slow learner at the language. However what he lacked in skills he made up for in drive to learn and improve. He trained under Amuse for a year until he realized that they had no plans of debuting a group any time soon. In fact he was one of the only trainees there. And he wasn´t getting any younger. He needed to debut and soon if he wanted to have any chance of making it in the kpop industry. So he decided to leave Amuse and has been training indivisually since, practicing both his Korean language, his singing and his dancing as well as a small amount of rapping.

Hello! Could you please introduce yourself? 

Hello everyone! I´m Aki or Akihito and I´m one of the show´s Japanese contestants. I´´m also (probably) the tallest and one of the oldest as I´m 26 this year.

Why did you decide to audition for International Idol? 

I´ve always wanted to do something with my life. Be successful. I may already be an actor back in Japan but music has been a passion for years and so I want to get a chance to work with my passion.

What was your audition song? 

I performed Day Dream by Sungmin. I admit I struggled a bit with some of the highest notes but I think it was a good choice nonetheless. 

What do you believe sets you apart from the other contestants? 

I have past experience being in the spotlight. I´m ambition and driven. I have skills besides singing.

What skill or skills are you most confident in?

My vocals. I´m also not a bad dancer however I´m most definitely best at doing girl group dances.

If given the chance, what skill would you like to show off and if that skill wasn't available for whatever reason, what other skill would you pick? 

Well, I am both a former actor and model but those skills are hard to show off in a show like this. My skill at girl group dances probably? Or my piano or guitar skills. And my acrobatics!

What concepts do you prefer and what ones don't you like?  

Melancholic and/or darker concepts suit me the best due to my age. I´m not good at cute things.

If you were in a group with a concept you didn't like and were given the chance to switch to one with a concept that suits you better, would you switch or stay with your group? 

That would depend a lot on the concept. If it´s something that will challenge me but I think I´ll be able to pull off then I´d stay with the group. If it´s something I really don´t think I´ll do well with - such as a cute concept - then I´d switch.

What amount of members do you think the winning group should have?

Somewhere between 5 and 9. Any more and teamwork might become hard. It also becomes difficult for everyone to shine. Less and it´s hard to get all bases covered unless everyone can do everything.

If you won, how do you think you would react?

I´m pretty sure I´d definitely be happy even if I didn´t exactly show it.

And on the other side of that, if you lost, how do you think you would react?

I´d be sisappointed in myself mainly I think.

Lastly, is there anything you would like to say to your mentors, other contestants or the audience?
