BACKGROUND
Lee Taeryung was born on May 23rd, 2000 in Gunsan, North Jeolla, South Korea to her parents Shin Dongjin and Lee Eunsook. She has one older sister, Shin Taeyeon who is 6 years older than her. Taeryung's parents eventually got a divorce when she was in the sixth grade, where her and her sibling lived with their mother, while her father still had joint custody. Taeryung has been in martial arts and modern dance ever since she was in the second grade. There at modern dance, she had grown to love dance and music. But unfortunately, her father was not really into the whole entertainment industry, he wanted his kids to grow up well educated and cultured.
Taeryung always knew she wanted a singing career. She uploaded singing covers on her YouTube channel since she was around 11. One day in 2012, a company by the name of SBS contacted her and asked her to audition for their show, K-Pop Star 2. It turned out that her long term friend, Yang Nahyun, submitted Taeryung's video to the company without her knowing. Anyways, Taeryung passed the preliminary audition. With her mother, the two had temporarily moved to Seoul for the show.
Taeryung auditioned for the main audition, becoming an official contestant for K-Pop Star 2 in 2012. She finished in the top 6, getting eliminated in the third round. But, she still signed onto Nega Network in late 2013.
Taeryung was in the original lineup of a new girl group collaboration with NH Media; Laboum. She was set to debut as the Lead Rapper, Lead Dancer, and Maknae of the group. However a couple months before Laboum's debut, Taeryung was pulled out of the final lineup as per request by her father. He claimed that she was too young to debut and only had a trainee period of a few months. The company ultimately came to an agreement that she would not debut in Laboum.

❃ It is safe to say that Taeryung and her father are not on the best of terms. Taeryung suspects when she changed her surname from Shin to Lee is when Dongjin started to disown her. Dongjin was and is still highly against Taeryung becoming and idol or just in the entertainment industry in general, he just thought dancing and singing was just a hobby of hers. When Taeryung started to train at Nega Network and was in Laboum's lineup, that was the tipping point for him. He didn’t like the fact that she would debuting at the age of 14 with little to no training experience, filing a complaint to Nega Network to Taeryung eventually not debuting with Laboum. Since then, Eunsook gained full custody of Taeryung and Taeryung has been giving Dongjin the silent treatment ever since, only seeing him at events that involve Taeyeon. Many people suggest to her to go to family therapy with him, but Taeryung is heavily against it, she is completely fine with not having Dongjin in her life anymore.

❃ It’s definitely hard to say whether or not Taeryung gets along with all the members of Rose. When the lineup was finalized, she had a hard time getting along with a handful of them since she was afraid that she was going to get dropped from Rose. But she didn’t. She warmed up to the members pretty quickly after that.

TRAINEE LIFE 2 Years at Nega Network, 1½ Years Independent, 1 Year at Dal Media.
❃ Taeryung didn't have a plan after K-POP Star 2, so she was just thrown into training when she started to train at Nega Network. She took little to no breaks, and the breaks she did take, she always incorporated practice into them one way or another. For her skills, she was decent in all vocal, rap, and dance, having showcased a three of them before.
However due to the lack of rap focused trainees, the trainers at Nega Network pushed her into rapping than the other two. Just a few months after arriving at Nega Network, the company let the trainees know of an upcoming girl group that they would debut in collaboration with another company, NH Media. This news was not that effective towards Taeryung because she knew due to her age and training period that she will not make it into this lineup. Well, she did.
The lineup of this new girl group consisted of seven girls: Kim Yujeong, Jung Soyeon, Bae Jinye, Yeom Haein, Ahn Solbin, Kim Yulhee, and Lee Taeryung herself. There was a 8 year between Yujeong and Taeryung as well as a 3 year between Yulhee and Taeryung. Despite this, she got along with everyone and they treated her as she was their younger sister. The group trained together for a couple months before Taeryung was pulled out of the lineup due to her father's request.
After not being able to make her debut, Taeryung was in distraught. She quickly got diagnosed with depression and an anxiety disorder, with somedays not getting out her bed. She preformed poorly when it came to training, until 2015 when Taeryung was let go from the company due to not passing a monthly evaluation. She went back to live with her mom and continued schooling.
Soon after, Taeryung became an independent trainee, working at local business to be able to rent out studios. She also returned to her YouTube, mainly uploading covers and occasionally vlogs. She did this for around a year until she was scouted by Dal Media via a video she uploaded in 2016 and immediately started to train with them.
Taeryung never heard of Dal Media, so she joined the company on a whim. Thankfully, her depression and anxieties were less frequent since leaving Nega Network, so Taeryung had less episodes of panic attacks and was able to actually pass monthly evaluations.
Truthfully, when Dal Media started to begin their process for Rose, Taeryung had little hope that she'll be in the lineup, or be in the lineup just to be pulled out of it once again. But luckily, she was placed in the lineup for Rose, actually debuting for once.
PREDEBUT
❃ YouTube ≬ Since she was 11, Taeryung has been uploading covers and 'vlogs' to Youtube. It didn’t last long, though as her friend submitted one of her videos for K-POP Star 2. She took a break from uploading videos since she was on the show and trained at Nega Network. When she became an independent trainee, she started uploading again until she was scouted by Dal Media. She hopes that Dal Media can give her an approval so she can start uploading again on her channel. ≬ 2011-2012, 2016.
❃ K-POP Star 2 ≬ For a few months, Taeryung was a contestant on K-POP Star 2. She enjoyed being on the show, despite getting elminated in the 3rd rounds. She isn’t really friendly with any other of the contestants, expect for maybe AKMU's Suhyun, which she occasionally greets when they run into each other. Other that her, she wasn’t that bothered to make friends. Shortly after being eliminated, she signed onto Nega Network. She replaced Shin Jihoon. ≬ 2012-2013.

❃ Acting ≬ She got interested in acting when she took some acting lessons at Nega Network. She expressed her interest to Dal Media, and they let her act in supporting roles in dramas. Taeryung's acting career isn’t as big as she liked, she just wanted to do it just because. Her first role was Kim Sangah in Bad Papa, which premiered in October 2018. ≬ 2018-202X.

Rose was filming their own variety show where they had an obligatory heart to heart talk, where Taeryung opened up about Laboum.
