Unrequited Love

Unrequited Love

We planned to keep it platonic
No feelings. No love.
It was a mere ruse for everyone to believe in
But then it became more than just a ruse
Day by day, the playful fake acts lead to me not lasting a day without your cheesy remarks
The small pecks you’d give for show became the cause of the butterflies dancing in my stomach
There wasn’t a day when I didn’t think of you
When I didn’t beat myself up for falling for you this hard
Your actions are no help
Every time I hear those three cursed yet amazing words
I can’t tell if you mean it or if I just want you to mean it
Stupidity,
my strongest trait
Now before I dig myself into a deeper hole, tell me
Did you mean it when you said “I love you”
