Title: Beauty and its Perfection

1)CHARACTERS: 18/20

Characters… I can’t think of anything I want to change about them. The darkness and flaws are there. They’re not perfect beings. I love and hate them at the same time especially Krystal. For me to like Krystal is actually a big thing. I’m not fond of her in real life to be honest. I don’t know why but I just do.

This is written in the princess’ point of view aka. Suzy and somehow I feel a detached yet innocent vibe on how she tells the story. Most of the time, I’m shaking my head at her for letting herself get ruined like that. I wished she was strong but not everyone can get everything they want, right?

I think specific physical traits are not needed since they are described as PERFECT or should we say attractive physically.

2)SETTING: 20/20

One specific place is mentioned and that is the apartment; the apartment where Suzy discovers the truth about her friend and her husband. One man. Two Women. Of course, placing them in one house, would lead to pain.

I like the melancholic and darkness of the story. It isn’t over the top where there’s too much drama. It’s simple and yet it describes perfectly how the characters are. Sometimes, the simple things are the best way to convey a story.

3)PLOT: 19/20

Most of the time, I have a hard time deciphering what’s really happening. But still, there’s a strange beauty in how it was written. I’m still at loss on what was inside the small casket. Is it the memories of the ugly truth the three are hiding? Probably, but I’m not the writer. There are many ways to interpret the plot and it nice to have readers thinking about what the story truly means.

The first part or should I say chapter in my opinion is like random flashbacks. You don’t really see the whole story but bit by bit, you see a picture. You see the monster and the beauty in it. That makes it more interesting to read.

For me, the best scene in the story was the talk between Suzy and Krystal where the princess tells her friend her feelings about L. At that point, you don’t see the whole picture. The princess is truly innocent and naïve of the truth about the flawed beauty.

I also like the part where L becomes Myungsoo. Even though he returned the pieces of Suzy’s heart, it wasn’t fully whole. Never again would it be the same. Just like everyone in the story.

4)CONFLICT: 18/20

When you look at it, Suzy looks like she has given up from the very beginning. Her heart leads her actions. It makes me want to pity her. That’s why I was a bit happy when she stood up for herself near the end. She’s still weak but there’s a change that became significant in the end.

Can I slap L? I’m just a bit angry at his actions. He’s really blinded about Krystal that nothing matters. He’s not really thinking about anything else. I hate him for it and neglecting Suzy for love. And there’s Krystal, controlling everything to fit her every whim. She was never a good friend from the very beginning. Too selfish… but a great character still.

As I think about the external conflict, I’m beginning to hate each character. It is not because of how you wrote them, but because, in their own way, their flaws led to their own destructions.

5)THEME: 18/20

Beauty and Flaws. No matter how hard we try to hide the imperfections and dark secrets, they will always be revealed.

A wonderful piece.

OVERALL SCORE: 93 POINTS

At first, I didn’t notice that the story was not arranged properly in the first chapter. I’ve seen the same style at some other story. For me it improved the way I saw the story~
