BAP: LIVE ON EARTH

BAP: LIVE ON EARTH
MY EXPERIENCE

So, I now finally have the energy to write about this. I'm a little late, I know, but please forgive me. I have my reasons and you'll understand what they are in a few.

So, I'm going to start from the beginning...

From Miami, my older sister and I got on the 7:30 flight to NYC. We had to be at the airport at 5 because, though in everywhere it's just an exhaggeration, in Miami Int. Airport you legitimately have to be there two hours before your flight. Especially if you're doing a luggage check in.

We got to NYC around 9:30-10 and from there we had to catch are shuttle to check in to our hotel, which combined took a little more than an hour.

We stayed at the ROW on 44th and Broadway and after we checked in and put everything in our room, we headed out to eat at this sweet place called the Roxy, which was right next door.

The hotel was great and the location was perfect because on the other side of the block was the Best Buy Theater. So after we had our late dinner, we went to search for it so that we could know where it was exactly the next day and not get lost... And did you know what we found at 1:00 AM?

A line of 100 people already camping out in front of the venue.

Now, I'm not against getting to the venue early, but it was the same with BigBang. I find camping out just so ridiculous.

You sleep on the street and you don't shower for almost 24 hours!!!!!!!!!!! That's crazy! I can't do that , ever!

After that, my sister and I headed back to the hotel where we made sure to shower before going to bed. Unfortunately, I only ended up getting almost 2 hours of sleep. So after getting dressed and ready we headed back to the venue, where the line had almost accumulated to 400 people. A line which had already begun to wrap around the building.

So now, running on only two hours of sleep, I now had to wait in line for 15 hours.

I have no complaints thought. I met a great group of BABYz who were in line with me, and we saw a bunch of crazy : Like the incredibly buff Sargeant who loved to make his ies dance. Lol. But at least he had stuff to flaunt, unlike the Grandma and the Grandpa. The Grandma, who by the way, nearly blinded my poor 16 year old friend that I made because she decided to let her bra fall off and her s hang out with only stars covering her nips. Yeah.... a lot of us were scarred. But I guess those are the perks of being in the part of the line that was blocking the intersection walkways.

Within the group, I was deemed the oldest and the veteran of the group. Some had just recently gotten into Kpop, BAP especially, while others had been in it for a year, and one of them as early as '09. I've been into Kpop since '04 and am now 24 years old. Crazy how time flies. so I was basically called an OG especially since I witnessed the birth of the greatones, like SUJU and BIGBANG. Just to name drop a few. Lol

Oh, we also saw Mr.POPO, who came around the block a couple of times and filmed us.... To be honest, I totally was not aware he was from NYC.

Anywhoo, moving on.

I met a lot of great people, most notably Michelle and her friend who never did tell me her name bcause it was in Thai and she said I wouldn't be ablke to remember it anyways. -.- Lol and a cute girl names Linda, who no lie looked like a baby. She was 16 and by herself. Naturally, I felt my maternal instincts kick in around her. But unfortunately, I lost her in the crowd when we got inside the venue. I was seriously worried about her the whole night. Still am. She was so little and alone. I regret having not paid closer attention to what was going on. But it really was a mess.

Now we get to the concert... which sadly, was poorly organized.

It was terrible. And I'm not the only one who feels this way.

You could see the look of worry in the boys face throughout the night and I sincerely believe the concert was cut short. It went from what should've been a 3-4 hour concert to a 2 hour show.

The venue and concert organizers underestimated the whole thing and because of it were incredibly unprepared.

I was in the pit, really close to the front, but when the TV's came on to run an ad and people freaked thinking it was the boys, I was nearly crushed. I already had a bad feeling. The friends I had beside me were really little and young. They were also really nice, so even in the line I tried to tell them to not be afraid to push back since they're little or they'll get trampled on.

But that didn't work. The moment the show started I knew we were all ed.

The pit was already hot and crowded to begin with and it only got worse the moment BAP came out. People were getting crushed and fainting left and right. I'm claustrophobic, so I was already suffering. My sister's really short so she was getting crushed. And because the crowd was pushing back and forth, the people in the middle (ME) were getting thrown around. I almost fell but because of my adrenaline and my desperation to breathe, despite the boys already performing, I had to get out of the pit. After A LOT of trouble, we finally did and my sister and I came out battered and bruised.

I have bruises all over especially a huge one on my waist, my sister pulled her back and I pulled a few muscles in my abdomen, left arm, left leg and my ankles were swollen. I think the one in my andomen and left leg, and the bruise on my back were the worst ones.

So not only did we have to endure 15 strenuous hours of standing in a line, to the point that I had to take one of my contacts off because my eye was sore as hell, but then we almost got pummled in the crowd.

I understand people get excited, I get it. Especially those who went for the first time or never seen BAP or a Kpop group live. I understand. It was a young and inexperienced crowd. But that doesn't give them an excuse. BigBang had 1000 VIP's in the pit section and it wasn't that bad. (then again, it's an older crowd.) It was just too much. People need to be a lot more considerate to one another.

The venue was also incredibly unprepared and it goes to show you how bad it was that at the back of the pit they were passing around water bottles while in the front they were spraying people. And to be honest, where I was standing in the back was actually better than that huge swarm that had developed in the front. I could breathe, I didn't have people on top of me, I could see them clearly AND I had room to dance. Lol.

Crowd control aside, the boys threw one hell of a show. It was so fun and they had such great energy, but again I felt bad. You could tell they were worried about the crowd. Himchannie especially.

I gotta say, although Yongguk is my biased, the ones who caught my attention were definitely Zelo, Himchan and Youngjae. Zelo especially I am absolutely in love with. Had he been older I would totally dub him my Ideal type. I also noticed he's getting flirtier, good for him. Himchan really was like a mom. You could tell he wanted to keep a bright outlook but he was genuinely worried the whole time. I felt bad. Youngjae was also very attentive and he and Jonggup, somtimes Zelo and Yongguk were charge of English, though you'd get an occassional comment from Daehyun and Himchan. Lol

Check On was their funnest performance, the dance section especially was cute as fuuuuuh. And Coffee Shop was creative too.

Again, I think the concert was cut short for obvious reasons, because as I was passing the back to get back to the hotel, I heard the security/EMS guys talking about how too many people were fainting because it was too hot and they couldn't believe it.

Also, it seems strange that only Junggup had a "solo" stage and no one else.

So yeah... I'm probably missing stuff, but as you can imagine, I'm still exhausted and in pain. Yesterday I couldn't do anything, especially update bcause I had to get 13 hours of much needed sleep. Which I did. ^^

Next concert... BLOCK B IN MIAMI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bring it boys!!!! <3

I'm from Chile and I went to JYJ's concert, and it was the same, I had bruises everywhere and I was in pain for a few days... the show was great but the venue... I could barely breathe and many girls fainted in from of me and we had to help them ... and they sprayed water at the people in the front so I was wet and bruised .

Oh damn, that sounds INSANE, I guess there aren't many KPOP shows in the US?
I'm from Peru, and I've seen lots of groups coming here. JYJ, Big Bang, SUJU, UKISS came twice, MBLAQ is coming in June, so I get the insanity. I din't go to any, mainly because it was CRAZY as hell, although I almost went to BB. JYJ sold out their tickets in less than 30 minutes, beating Bieber's record XD. The fans stop traffic outside their hotel! VIPs camped outside the venue three days before the concert, and I kid you not, ELFs did the same, A MONTH before the show. All that insanity for KPOP groups has made the general public consider us kpop fans as "crazy teens obsessed with Asian dudes". I mean, the Suju craze was so bad, passersby actually threw stuff at the girls waiting in line, but come one, a month! I wouldn't do that for any group.
Thankfully the organization seemed decent enough, at least for Big Bang, my friends went to that show and told me some stuff about it. They said it was really cool and very well organized, although the venue was small.
Seeing these past examples, the organizers bringing MBLAQ have decided to number the tickets, so that way they avoid queuing up days before and maintain some resemblance of order.
Take your well deserved rest, and keep in mind that, if the seats aren't numbered, you might go through something similar for Block B.
Still, glad you had fun and could make it out alive! :D
