ZE:A won Immortal Song 2...with song Step by Step originally by New Kids on the Block (info n link courtesy of HoshaTree)
while i'm really happy for them...maybe it's bcuz i've watch all their immortal song appearances or maybe it's juz cuz i always set the standard higher n higher for groups i love...i feel like i'm left expecting for more...considering they didn't even win with something as amazing as their Hot Stuff performance or some other past perfs in IS2...but understandably, the competition would be of different level/variation as well...it was alright...the crowd was easily pumped...well, seeing Minwoo sing, as usual...made me fangirl...(eventhough i'm not minu's fangirl...lol...i just automatically fangirl whenever he sings even if his vocals aren't the most amazing)....there's not much modification with vocal play...but there's not much retainment of old skool feel this song carries out either...so...basically...it's alrite...but it doesn't leave me with...um, strong impact?...i'm glad they did a bit variety of dance during the dance break...bcuz sells...but it gets boring with overplay(no offense kevin..**or on other occassions, dongjun**...really...*runs*) maybe i'm just the oldskool one...and this song, Step by Step just has this old skool feel to it that i like to either see being retained or completely modified to a whole different thing...instead of being in the middle n i'm not sure what i feel about it...but hey, it's still an awesome performance...as usual...i mean duh...what else do you expect from ZE:A? lol. the dances were really captivating. overall I'd say, Minu probly captures the oldskool mood/feel that i like in the song the most...of course Kevin's adlibs are always the best...though something feels missing from him and i don't even know what...(kwanghee perhaps? omglol...j/k) ...ahh, i think it's bcuz it's just the four of them that have close vocal colour that made the perf a little...monotone/monochromatic for me?(remember usually they have a fifth member in their IS2 appearances most time?) this is why i don't like the way they divide ZE:A Five n ZE:A4U...i always prefer a mixture of variety of sound in a group...oh, same 'ol whiny same 'ol whiny me...
and speaking of Step by Step by New Kids on the Block....duh..of course i have to link my fav groups using that. i mean...both my ZE:A and Battle have song title Step by Step. Battle's Step by Step was actually inspired by New Kids on the Block Step by Step...or so they said...it was the song that made them a little popular probly for starting the shuffle dance trend in kpop in 2008(if it was ever a trend in kpop?lol idk...) and during one of their performance...they danced to New Kids on the Block's Step by Step in intro part...since it's intro part...understandably...it's short n there's no singing involved...but...imo, they captured the oldskool feel that i look for...n i can imagine even if they do sing, it'd have the feel...lol. forgive me for the biasedness...lol....*runs*
in the past, many fans(or new fans) said they liked Battle's Step by Step(the song they performed after that intro) though for me, it's their era that i dislike the most...(is it a coincidence as well that their single Step by Step was produced by Brave Brothers?...lol.) i don't like the style that was all over the place n the song style. n the comparison ppl kept making with big bang at that time. but i guess....somewhere along the way i've made peace with the songs..i mean, i love luv u eventhough it was by brave brothers too....no bias here...n it's not like Battle had so many songs for me to be picky...sigh...
to end this post....
let's have the other Step by Step...
ahh, i still like nkotb step by step the most i think...lol. (even if i'm not that crazy bout it)
step by step n me doesn't go well i guess -_-...oh well...
anyway, hey...Congratulations to ZE:A for their First Win! though it's bittersweet that their first win is not together as a complete group or with their own song...hopefully they'd reach that together in music shows....even if i doubt it...it doesn't make them less awesome anyway. in this world of overrated n underrated collide n mix n messed up n recognition through winning is more than anything a show of power...what's a winning in weekly music shows anyway?
