CHARACTER HISTORY

·· as the only daughter of a widower, yoojin grew up without a strong woman figure in her life. her father is the respected and revered military general in their village, who raised his daughter to be an aggressive and fierce warrior like him. yoojin was only two years old when her mother died in childbirth with her little brother, leaving her father to raise his three children (two boys, one girl) by himself. since her father was a military general, he earned more than a luxurious living and yoojin was given an education that most girls during that age never would have had. besides being taught how to read and write both korean and chinese symbols, yoojin also learned mathematics, literature, military strategy, and of course, how to fight. her father personally oversaw her martial arts training and by the age of seven, she was competent in chinese kungfu and a wide range of weapons, including different types of swords, dagger, bows, crossbows, and spears. because of her more masculine upbringing, yoojin lacked the etiquette and feminine attitude that was expected of her gender. she does not know how to cook even rice, does not care to learn how to sew, and has never cleaned anything in her entire life. yoojin does not wear traditional hanboks, instead, she opts for men's clothing and the only way to tell that she's a girl is from her long, black hair and pretty face.

when she was seven years old, yoojin and her best friend, park won, were playing in the kitchens with wooden swords. they knocked over a pot during their little "fight", which caused the flame to catch onto a rag next to it and set the entire building on fire. although won was able to make it out, yoojin was stuck in the room, surrounded by flames. her father managed to save her before she died of smoke inhalation, but the experience caused her to fear fire and enclosed spaces. even in the winter when it reaches freezing temperatures, yoojin will stay was far away from fire as she possibly can.

before she was chosen to be sacrificed, she was still training at her home in the village. her father had been trying to find a suitable husband for her among the royalty with his strong connections; however, many of them were unwilling to allow their sons to marry someone who does not even know how to boil a pot of water. as a sixteen year old, yoojin could care less about who she was going to marry and hopes to be able to fight like her father when she grows up.

her plans to become the first female soldier of joseon was crushed, however, when yoojin was selected among the other girls in her village to be sacrificed to the gods. unlike what was expected though, she was neither scared nor sad, instead, she embraced her role that would benefit the rest of the village. although she was a bit upset that she hadn't finished her mini-bucket list of things to do before she died, yoojin accepted that her life would be ending soon and approached her fate with dignity, grace, and confidence. as someone who had been trained for years to go into battle, yoojin was not afraid, in fact, she viewed it as another adventure. she pretended that instead of being sacrificed, she would be going into a war that she would most likely not come out alive in. no matter what, yoojin knew that her death would be able to help the rest of the village live happily and prosperously, so she pushed her own selfish thoughts aside for her neighbors. since she was the daughter of the general that had led joseon to victory more than once, yoojin was both well-loved and respected in her village; many of them were sad to see her go and began to mourn her passing even before the ceremony date, but they were all glad that it had not been their own daughters that had been chosen.

CHARACTER PERSONALITY

·· yoojin was raised to be a warrior: tough, aggressive, intelligent, and cunning. she was never very feminine or submissive, instead, she was always very straightfoward and honest, because that's how her father raised her. in a sense, she is very similar (personality wise) to a man because she grew up around a tough, masculine father and two equally manly brothers. yoojin is very awkward when it comes to emotions and she dislikes anything that involves an excess of drama or tears because she doesn't know how to handle them. whenever her only female friend cries, yoojin can never comfort her because she simply doesn't know how. the funnier thing is, she can shoot a bulleyes perfectly, chop firewood for hours, and wield a sword so graceful that it looks like she's dancing, but she'll shut down at the first sight of tears.

yoojin is a very tough person. she was taught to be cunning and observant, which has helped her immensely through the years. it is impossible to shock or surprise her and even harder to draw out an emotional reaction from her since her father always reminded her to keep all vulnerable points away from her enemy; however, this has caused her to become very distrustful and paranoid of most people to the point that there are only a few in the world that she can actually trust.

her demeanor is very calm and cool. her face is usually set in an emotionless mask and rarely will you see any exaggerated reaction from her. yoojin is very level-headed and mature for her age, so her self-control and self-discipline extends beyond many at her age. she is usually quiet and does not speak too many words when she is around other people, preferring to analyze her surroundings underneath her hat and veil. in other words, she seems like a cold city girl, but she's actually just protecting herself by putting up a shield so that people cannot feed off her emotions and find her vulnerable points.

she is also a very brash person. yoojin is very honest and straightfoward, never sugarcoating anything and just plainly presenting everything how it is. her words can be very hurtful at times, but she never means to actually harm anyone; she just believes that telling the truth is the more righteous thing to do. her brash attitude can be seen in her personality as she is a very confident and fearless person, to the point that it becomes reckless and dangerous. as someone who is easily bored, yoojin will never pass off the opportunity for adventure and liveliness since living in the same village since she was born has kind of become a bore for her. her impulsiveness has gotten her into many sticky situations but because she is just as quick-minded as she is sharp-tongued, yoojin has always managed to save herself.

yoojin is a very indepedent person. her father is not a very affectionate type of parent and shows his love through tough training and criticism. she has practically raised herself alongside her brothers and can function perfectly on her own at the age of sixteen. she is not the type to take anyone's crap and will always fight back no matter what because its no secret that yoojin values her pride and dignity more than her own life. she can be arrogant and egotistical because of her exceptional skills in fighting, but she rarely every means to hurt or annoy anyone. the truth is, she just wants someone (that's not a family member or a girl) to trust and secretly (she'll never tell anyone this), she wants to find someone that she'll be willing to learn how to cook, sew, and be a good wife to.

LOVE INTEREST
LOVE INTEREST. jeon jungkook
Interactions. putting the god of fire and the ice warrior together was never a good idea. the two are constantly at each other's throats, literally, whether it'd be a flame held up to yoojin's face or a sharp blade pressed against the god's neck, there is rarely a moment when the two of them are not arguing about something. yoojin pushes every button of jungkook's because she's not willing to listen and obey to everything he says; instead, she's rebellious, fearless, and could care less about what he wanted. jungkook is the only one that can break the carefully crafted facade that yoojin has created and the only that can pull out an anger in her that has been unseen by everyone else. even the littlest things set them off on each other -- when yoojin refuses to wear the pretty pink and purple hanbok jungkook wants her to wear and when he refuses to let her interact with anyone else -- they'll be screaming at each other in no time. jungkook breaks the self-control that yoojin is so proud of and yoojin sets off a possessiveness in jungkook that he has never seen. she is his and his only.

though the two started off very roughly with slamming doors and screaming fights, one incident changed the way that they acted around each other. during one of their fights, jungkook lost control and managed to burn down the greenhouse they were standing in, trapping yoojin inside and triggering her worst memories in her mind. instead of fleeing like jungkook had expected her too, yoojin was crouched onto her knees gripping her head as she screamed in fear. he managed to calm the flames down and save her from burning to death before apologizing, realizing that she was scared to death of fire. after that incident, he was much more reserved around her, which triggered yoojin's suspicions. when she confronted him, jungkook admitted that he could be temperamental and possessive, but he wasn't inherently cruel. yoojin in turn, told him her story and after that, a level of understanding was established between the two. their interactions with each other calmed down a lot afterwards. although they still bickered and argued all the time, their little spats had been injected with a very flirtatious vibe. jungkook began seeing the beauty in yoojin's lack of feminine charms and yoojin became very attracted to his multi-faceted personality.

the more that they spent time with each other, the more they fell in love. jungkook treats her like a doll, having to constantly remind himself that she's human, but he's also very possessive and dominant over her. he gets jealous whenever her attention is on something else (it doesn't even have to be a person) and while he is usually very teasing and childish around her, he can also be very sensitive and warm-hearted as well. yoojin treats him awkwardly -- since she has never fallen in love before, she has no idea what to expect, but she opens herself up to him, which is a sign that she has placed her full trust into jungkook. though they are obviously attracted to each other, they're also like an old married couple -- always arguing, bickering, and fighting over everything because of their clashing personalities, but at the end of the day, they'll always make up.

PERSONALITY. ··jungkook is like the little child that throws tantrums every time he doesn't get what he wants. he's possessive, bossy, and temperamental to a fault, constantly getting angry and annoyed at the simplest of things. in a sense, he is both manly and immature in personality since his characteristics can be viewed on both sides of the spectrum. jungkook is a very confusing guy in general, because he always says one thing and then does another, which frustrates many people. also, he rarely devotes his full attention to anything or anyone, which has hurt many of the women that have fallen for him in the past. like yoojin, he is awkward with his emotions and does not know how to control them, which angers him since this big baby likes to be in control and dominant of everything.

like a child, he is very protective of the things he loves. hurt someone he loves and he'll make sure you'll burn forever in the pits of his hell-like dungeon. his possessiveness makes him very temperamental since the simplest of things can cause him to become very jealous. jungkook's temper is like a ticking bomb and all those around him always try to appease him to avoid the nasty consequences that would follow.

jungkook can also be very flirtatious and seductive, which has come in handy whenever he needed someone for something. not only do women fall at his feet, but men do as well, for one slight smirk and heated gaze from him could make the most stubborn person in the world do his bidding. he knows he's attractive and charming, which has boosted his ego immensely. he is very similar to yoojin in many aspects -- they are both stubborn and prideful, as well as awkward with emotions and extremely charming. while yoojin's charm comes from her silent but graceful stance, jungkook's comes from manipulation.

despite his bad traits, jungkook is actually a very sensitive person. his possessiveness stems from the loss of his first love, whom he loved desperately with a passion. because of this, he has closed himself off and shut his emotions into his heart to prevent himself from getting hurt again. he is actually a very understanding person who will become serious and sentimental if the situation calls for it. he is neither cruel nor sadistic, but he has no problem ordering someone to die or scaring someone almost halfway to death.

overall, jungkook and yoojin are very similar, except he is fire and she is ice. they are each other's weaknesses but also each other's strengths. although their volatile personalities clash towards the beginning of their relationship, through time and events, they realize that they are at their strongest when they are with each other.

MEETING. ··after the ceremonial sacrifice, yoojin woke up in a large hall covered in red decorations and pure white marble. of course, she thought that she was dead already and headed towards the large golden double doors ahead of her, thinking that they were the entrance to heaven. when she entered, she realized the room was completely dark and uncomfortably hot, she began to panic, thinking that she had been sent to hell. when the doors slammed shut behind her, yoojin was burned upon her attempt to escape. when she hears a chuckle behind her and sees for the first time, the gorgeous god of fire, instead of being lovestruck like he had expected, she became angry and drew out the sword that she had been sacrificed with. although jungkook was confused, annoyed, angry, and slightly by the sight of the female warrior, he managed to control his temper and approach her. his attempt to be nice was completely foiled by yoojin's fiery temper and the two managed to start a screaming fight within two minutes of meeting each other. after yoojin was shoved against a wall for saying something that hurt his pride, jungkook left her in the room alone to be taken care of and cleaned up by the workers in his home.

YOUR STORY. ··although they started on a rough patch, yoojin and jungkook eventually look past their differences and start to slowly fall in love with each other; however, there's one thing in the way besides the fact that he's a god and she's a huam -- jungkook is still in love with his late lover, lee yoojung, who yoojin bears an uncanny physical resemblence to. other than their faces, the two women are completely different -- yoojung was very sweet and ladylike, but was uneducated and poor since she born into a peasant family while yoojin is very tough and cool, but educated and wealthy since she was born into a noble family. jungkook, who's initial thought upon seeing yoojin was that yoojung had been reincarnated, had his hopes shattered the moment she opened . although he begins to warm up to her more and more, he is confused about his feelings and unsure if it's yoojin he's falling in love with or if he's just using her as a replacement for yoojung. although he eventually hurts yoojin by hiding this part of his life and comparing her to yoojung after she found out, jungkook eventually realizes that his heart had been yang yoojin's from the moment that she had stepped into his life. yoojin, who is still heartbroken and angry, tells him that she will forgive him, but that it would take a some time for her heart to take him back again. from that day on, jungkook tries his best to earn her trust back and eventually, the two are back to their old married couple ways. despite their strong love for each other, they both face the obstacle that yoojin is not immortal and therefore, will grow old and perish one day. although neither of them could care less what she would look like as an old woman, their greatest worry is yoojin's short life span compared to jungkook's. most of their time is spent researching for ways to turn yoojin into an immortal as well and although their efforts are fruitless in the beginning, they eventually find a method that is both dangerous and slightly immoral. a life for a life, is the main point of this method and in exchange for yoojin's mortality, a prisoner in jungkook's dungeons is slaughtered. once that ceremony is done, yoojin becomes immortal, although someone must be sacrificed for her life every one-hundred years to keep her alive. although this ceremony is a secret in the palace -- only the top trusted guards and servants know -- yoojin eventually overcomes her guilt for living by killing someone else and spends a happy life arguing and bickering with jungkook.
