yun was born to a chinese father and a korean mother in london. her father is an asian history professor at the university college of london while her mother is a freelance artist who loves to paint cherry blossoms and as strange as it sounds, shrimp. at the age of twelve, the yang family moved all the way to seoul, korea, where her father found a job at yonsei university. although they were not rich, they lived a middle-class lifestyle and yun never lacked anything in her life: food, shelter, clothes, or parental love. when yun graduated high school, she attended yonsei university and majored in journalism. after graduating, she got a job as a blogger/journalist at the chosun ilbo, a major newspaper in south korea. yun writes for the lifestyle/personal section and runs a blog on the site for young women like her who are interested in fashion and beauty.

— yun is closest to the heiress. they both understand what it's like to be alienated from society and what it feels like to be different. because of their personal issues and strong personalities, yun and the heiress are very close.

— truthfully, i didn't think living with a bunch of other girls was a good idea; however, as best friends, i think we understand each other well enough to solve our problems. it took a few months for me to actually feel comfortable living with five other girls since it always used to be just my parents and i. although i earn a steady living, my parents didn't want me to be living alone and paying rent for an apartment that i wouldn't use completely, so after talking it out with the other girls and seeing their situation, we decided that the best idea would be to move in and live together.

how about a kiss in the rain? like, yixing and yun have started to talk again because she needed inspiration, but the feelings that they've been trying to deny are surfacing again. after a few months of being around each other, yixing is walking her home when it starts to rain. he brings up a memory of how the two of them once ran back to the dorm when it was pouring underneath his jacket and ended up having their first kiss in the rain. yun blushes but tells him harshly to forget it and tries to leave. he asks her why she broke up with him when they both obviously still love each other, but yun ignores him and just tries to get to her apartment. at that time, yixing grabs her by the wrist (like in those dramas... *swoon*) and kisses her really roughly. at first, yun tries to shove him away but she starts to kiss him back. after they pull apart, yixing says "i love you", but yun just shakes her head, mumbles "i can't do this", and runs into the apartment almost in tears.
