To Tell the Truth...

The day was a whirlwind. There were so many activities and sign-ups, and Donghae’s father wanted both of his sons with him—Donghae and Dongwook. Forced to be separated from his lover, Eunhyuk took a long walk back home. He felt alone in his bedroom; well, more like; alone in this world. Donghae’s father had been using him ungraciously for the past four months, or mainly, around the time the couple had announced their upcoming plans for marriage, since gay marriage was now legalized. Donghae was upset too at their constant separation—Eunhyuk could feel it. But he always told Donghae that it was not his fault he was signed up to do lots of things.

Though both of them knew it was just Mr. Lee’s plan to break this match apart without directly doing it, both of them were keeping up with him to just prove him wrong and prove that their love is much stronger than his tricks. They had lost the main purpose they had been trying to prove—love—and somhow, each had started to take a part of only the competition!

It wasn’t until five pm before Donghae came through the front door. “Hello!” he shouted, and Eunhyuk shouted back, “In here!” Eunhyuk was already under his covers, watching a movie out of sheer boredom. He didn’t even get up to great his fiancé, only just smiled slightly. Donghae let out a troubled sigh. He felt like he had just walked in on a stranger. He hated it when Eunhyuk acted that way—it always reminded him of his younger brother in his teen days; always cold and ignorant whenever Donghae tried to talk to him.

He dropped down next to Eunhyuk and burrowed into his side, his arm on Eunhyuk’s stomach while his face was hidden somewhere between his back and hair. Donghae felt guilty as hell when he realized how long it’s already been since he last held his spouse in his arms. It made him immediately murmur, “Do you want to have , baby?”

“Not today, Hae” Eunhyuk’s answer came right away—not even a second had unglued it from Donghae’s question. It was almost as if that was all what Eunhyuk had thought about all morning—how to not to have with his lover, and he came up with a pretty blunt way to say so, that Donghae was genuinely touched for his lover’s concern. He scoffed. “That bad?” he asked with a hint of hurtfulness in his voice. Eunhyuk sighed genuinely, and gave a little nod before he looked away, trying to focus his vision on the television even though he was not watching the show displayed anymore. It was obvious Eunhyuk wasn’t ready to put his thoughts into words yet, and Donghae was clueless of what to do.

“Hyuk, are you mad at me?”

“Not,” he assured with just a word.

“Hurt, then.” He didn’t say anything to that. He turned his head sideways and was slightly startled by the look on Donghae’s face. “You don’t get to leave me, Hyuk. I forbid it,” Donghae whispered and his eyes were cold and dark like water under ice. Eunhyuk scoffed a smirk. “Is it because you don’t want to lose to your father too? Because I know that’s the truth, and you know it as well, you’re just pretending otherwise.”

When Donghae did not say anything, and forgot to defend himself against the sharp accusation, Eunhyuk continued, “Well, to tell the truth, I’m only hurt because all of this is a lie. Both of us have lied about being in a relationship, and if we are going to start our marriage in such a big of lies, I don’t want any parts of it. Don’t beg me to stay with you if you know you have lied to me as you said the words ‘I love you’, and don’t tell me you didn’t lie once because I, too, have lied to you while saying them.” Eunhyuk sighed and ran a hand over his heating face. “Donghae. I’m sorry, I can’t go on like this. Let’s break up, and try accepting failure for once; both of us. Okay?”        

I wrote this around the time when the couple was unsetteled, and all fishy «around the time when most ELFs thought they were not talking to each other»

P.S. Eunhae couple melts my heart, I still believe they and Yunjae are the realist of all. But what do you think of this drabble?
