This is a guy who really doesn't care about looking "fashionable" and whatever bullsh*t teenagers his age would like even as a Hybrid. He just wears whatever he wants to, whether that be just a plain t-shirt, jeans, a sweater or something along there when off duty.. As long as he's comfortable and fully clothed, he won't complain about not having this shirt or whatever. Darker and monochromatic colors are what he likes the best, and to see him wearing bright colors would be nearly impossible because he doesn't have those kinds of clothes in his closet. Instead of normal shoes, he seems to have a with military and heavy black boots... Accessories are whatever for him too. If he finds something to match, then he wears it.

When actually on duty, he wears something alike to a ninja outfit of old - with a few modern touches on it, of course. A black outfit that is well-fitted to his lean body shape, a fitted vest around his torso and chest over a turtle-necked sleeveless tank, long leather bound black fingerless gloves that run up to half way his upper arms, and knee-high buckled military boots. He's not particularly picky about that he wears, but what he always has to have are dark black goggles stretching across the upper half of his face, a long grey scarf (something like
this) tucked around his neck (but still able to flap around behind him) and a grey sash across his waist to match his scarf; they are just his signature touch on his outfit. And of course, hidden in that sash is his own anti-venom while the dagger strapped to his leg is coated in his own venom.
(Outfit is based off of
this one but with the differences talked about in the description.)

• Snake
- extremely large and round pupils
- long venomous fangs that he can hide or pop out at will

- flexible body, able to often pop joints out to maneuver himself around (usually happens accidentally, which usually paralyzes and stuns Satoshi for a while before he has to excruciatingly pop himself back into shape)
- a light plating of viper-patterened scales across his back, the back of his arms and hands, up the sides of his neck and on the outside of his legs
- extremely blunt nails

Personality

"I am calm. When am I not calm?"
Ikeda Satoshi originally had a quick temper and openly displayed emotions as a child. He was rapidly taught to rein those in and cover them by putting them into ‘The Box’ as he grew up though, forcing his emotional side to shut down as fast as possible and keep it that way. All his unhappy thoughts, all his envious thoughts, all his angry thoughts, all his ungrateful thoughts... They all glide fluidly into ‘The Box’ and he locks them up to keep his mind focused on the more "realistic" side of life - the numbers and facts that he can easily work with and not have any complicating matters interfering with how he thinks.

"Does it matter if you like me or not? Because I don't like you."
True to how most people think of him, Satoshi can be considered as a snake - both mentally and physically. He’s rather cunning and knows how to brush disagreeable matters under the carpet with a certain bitter, sarcastic drawl that is natural to him - it is as easy for him to hiss and spit back as it is for him to blink. He then stomps on the matter with all his might so it dies quickly, and so that people can fear him. That's what he wants, for people to just respect him for once and appreciate the intelligence that he has. Alas, he is rather social at times and very talkative even if he doesn’t say what he really means - it's just all a means for him to learn and understand more. He knows the way to be charming as well as threatening (sometimes not really being able pull it off the way he wants). Always poised in public and covering up any weakness is something he has learned from a young age to do because it might be something his enemies will try to exploit (due to his rather fragile-looking appearances, he gets underestimated often and sneered at, so he learned to counter that with sharp words or glares). Overall, he is quite a defensive sort of character, very withdrawn and surrounding himself with a shell of spikes - snarky at times and with that cruel tongue, which can make him difficult to get along with.

"Don't. Ever. Call. Me. Weak. EVER!"
Yet, even with a passive-aggressive front, Satoshi isn’t a fighter due to having a body struck with weakness and just being physically more ill and weaker than most people even as a Hybrid (must be the fact that his mother is always around dangerous chemicals, even when she was pregnant). He bruises easily and his bones snap like twigs under pressure and he runs out breath just from traveling the simple distance of one side of the town to the other. And even though he might not be a traditional fighter, he’s definitely a survivor at the least. The boy has grown up with words of: “He won’t make it” but he still has and wit the vehement passion of one who knows his own power and abilities to do so, even surpassing most people's expectations for someone like him. And this is why he hates people who underestimate him. He struggles with his body every day and though physical endeavors are hard to him because even his body works against him most of the time, he is determined enough to never stop or ever give up. He might seem listless at times and absolutely useless, but that would just be part of the plan for how he's going to survive. He has attached his will to the need to survive and keep pushing forward, to always do things the way he wants to do it with his own ideals in the line. It reminds him that he needs to fight to stay alive and to stay alive to fight for what he believes in.

"You're weird. But I am too."
In innocuous ways, he feverishly believes in his cause to be able to prove himself strong in the eyes of everyone else, and it makes him somewhat of a fanatic whenever he really gets his head into something. Coupled with the face that he also feels as though he’s right and everyone else is wrong when people disagree with him, it takes time before he can hesitantly accept other opinions (sulking while he’s at it and spitting venomous words everywhere), and near to never before he apologizes (except to his superiors, since he does know when and where to bow his head). Thus, even if Satoshi is quite hard-headed about ideals, he is flexible when it comes to accommodating people - that is, only if he judges his guests are worthy enough of being accommodated (meaning if they have earned his respect, his inner circle, or his close friends). To get him to actually consider one "worthy of him", they must possess infinite patience or something close to that - he'll often give out "tests" to see what kind of person they are and if they don't satisfy him, he won't be their friend. Simple.

"Go away. I don't want to even know that you exist."
There is this melancholic side to him that he doesn’t dare reveal in front of anyone, one that has seen too much violence and blood and hates it terribly - who as been abused and bullied because he was weak in comparison to the other hybrids to the point that there are times where he wonders how he's even keeping himself together. One that has too many hidden emotions caught up in that big black box inside his head. So many that the box is grotesquely swollen and ready to explode if he only faltered in his resolve a bit more. There is this cringing child that sits besides the window sometimes, admiring the space between the stars, and wishes for Death to sweep him away... Even if he morphs back into the unwavering adult barely seconds later, forgetting all the ‘bad’ thoughts that had crossed his head.

"Don't think that I'm never watching you. Because I am always watching you."
On brighter days, however, Satoshi can make a good companion to those whom he trusts such as the Commander. He’s clever and can keep up with complicated conversations due to his love of books, often adding his own (sarcastic) insight into the talk. His knowledge does come in handy on field when he actually remembers all the loads of information and isn't more distracted with insulting other people. He usually tries to keep a collected and confident front, but in those rare moments where he is relaxed and thinks no one is noticing... He’s like an open book. However, most of the time, he is quite alert and always makes sure to keep a cool and calm facade in front of him - no one should be able to pierce through his spiky shell whenever he's not happy. Never underestimate him, for his eyes... They can read through most people and their body language just easily as someone can read him whenever his guard is down.

History:

Ikeda Satoshi was always destined to become a hybrid. It was just a matter of when he would be one.

To say that Ikeda Satoshi had a nice life is an overstatement. Because his life was just... Not a normal life that anyone would really want. His mother, a sort of odd-ball chemist working for the Japanese government, didn't need the burden of having a child even if she wasn't drafted into the war - but there she had one without even knowing who the hell his father was. Her life was already a mess as he became an agent for the North Korean government, and obviously Satoshi's life was going to be a mess too. From the start, instead of having soft and squishy things as a baby should have to play with, he had beakers and chemical jars to play with instead. No doubt that affected his mindset. He had thick textbooks to read and chemical formulas to memorize instead of happy ending stories and cute books to read. So he was an odd child from the very beginning.

Going to the war time school didn't help anything at all either, especially the fact that while other kids might be learning how to write and prepare for how to fight, he was already reading scientific journals and magazines that his teachers didn't even know what to do with him. They tried putting him into the accelerated program, but even there... Satoshi was still too smart, too intelligent and way too advanced for even the older kids. So all they could do was give him the best to do and hope that he would be able to just amuse himself while the rest of the classes struggled with whatever their normal grades needed, knowing that he wouldn't be fit to be just drafted as a regular grunt. And at first, he was fine with that.

But as soon as Satoshi began to get older, that was when the trouble started with the other students. Taking advantage of how quiet and withdrawn he was then, along with how he always seemed to get the top grades without even trying, the other students ganged up on him and eventually... Pressured and bullied him into doing things for them. Work, more specifically. Young and weak as he was, Satoshi couldn't really argue since it wasn't in his nature yet to be doing something like that. But every time he was forced to do work at the cost of getting hurt even more than before, he couldn't help but resent it more and more...

Until one day, he couldn't hold himself back any more and lashed out without thinking one day. He couldn't exactly remember what happened, but the next thing he knew was that he was in the hospital with several broken bones and the news that he had managed to severely injure another boy (the main bully). This event did not go well with his mother at the least and as soon as Satoshi was released from the hospital, all he received was scolding after scolding for making her go out of her way to pay and take care of him. From then on, he knew things had to change as his life was already beginning to change without him, his mother all of a sudden said that they were going to be moving to North Korea without even an answer from Satoshi - that he couldn't just let himself be walked all over like this any more with a new chapter in his life opening. It was time for him to grow a backbone and not let anyone take charge of him any more, or so he thought.

So when he went to North Korea, no longer was Satoshi that weak and quiet kid who just took whatever work was given to him and handed it back a few hours later perfectly written and answered. No, now whenever anyone did so, all he would do would give them a nasty glare and a few venomous words. And that, was the perfect initiative for his mother to simply offer him as one of the new hybrids, and unlike most of them, Satoshi prepared to embrace his new identity. He wanted to become a hybrid, to be involved with what he just callously saw as another experiment towards something greater than he was before.

Yes, the pain of being turned into one hurt like nothing before. But Satoshi relished in that pain, knowing that a part of him, that weak and useless human part of him was being ripped out and put in with something new, something much more powerful and in his mind, something better than before. He wanted to be heartless, to not be affected by others, to have cold and logical blood running through his veins because that, was what he sought power in.

Now, as he rose from the ashes of his old self as a new and more terrible being, all it took was this new-found maliciousness in him to just spite anyone back with a few choice words to intimidate them. From then on, he felt power and control over what he was as the "snake", that guy that no one wanted to mess or even talk with. And for Satoshi as he glided through training effortlessly, he had say that he didn't care. No strings attached, no one to bother him. It was no surprise to anyone, not even himself that by the time he was 17, Satoshi was already in charge of the experiments under his mother's control (not that she cared that much, she just let him do whatever he wanted really) in the laboratory and a brilliant strategist, on par with some of the generals because of his intelligence and the fact that he often filled his free days with reading up on war strategies of the past that North Korea had plenty of for him in disposal.

But Satoshi couldn't say that he was happy though, not with the fact that even though he had found control over what he had desperately wanted to be, now something else was holding him in place to do what they wanted him to do instead.

Likes :

Books - Yes, Satoshi is someone who can be considered a nerd. And book snake nerd, that is what he is. Books to him are his best friends and usually, even his refuge from the real world at times.

Reptiles - Considering that he is like the human personification of a snake, why wouldn't he like reptiles? Especially snakes, snakes are his animals and he just loves them like no other.

Monochromatic colors - Grey, black, white, brown. They soothe him and to Satoshi, the easiest sorts of colors and shades to wear as clothes.

Sunny days - Warm, bright and pleasant. Why wouldn't he like sunny days? Those are the days that he feels most alive and free, not having to be cramped up in the cold and darkness of his apartment.

Horror - His favorite genre. As long as there's that element of creepiness or weirdness, then expect him to like it. The more horror, the better it is for him.

Dislikes :

Sleeping - He just finds sleeping as a waste of time and tries to avoid it as much as possible, whether that be immersing himself in tasks to prevent himself from sleeping or just trying not to sleep at all.

Dogs - Thanks to an incident when he was younger and a dog bit him, Satoshi has never trusted dogs ever again. No matter how cute or small they are, he just doesn't like dogs any more.

Glasses - Wearing glasses annoys the crap out of him. Please don't ever ask him to wear any sort of glasses, not even sunglasses are okay with him.

Bitterness - Bitter food is one of the things he hates the most, so much that he can't even eat dark chocolate or taste straight black coffee without just spewing it out.

Haircuts - This is a guy who likes to hide behind his hair, so he'll try to keep it as long as possible. The key word being try before the others just drags him out to cut his hair anyways.

Hobbies :

Experimenting - Generally, just messing around and testing things out. It doesn't matter what he's experimenting with, be that with animals, chemicals, whatever he gets his hands on... He just wants to figure it all out.

Playing the Piano - Considering that music is one of his refuges, playing piano also helps to soothe his nerves... Along with the fact that it's one of the only places that people don't try to take advantage of him with.

Habits :

Listening to Gossip - This is a guy who is all ears most of the time and anything interesting said will be picked up by him. Whether that be true or not, it doesn't matter. He still likes to listen to people just talk so that he can learn more...

Smoking - Yeah, yeah. Cancer sticks kill you. But for the short term, they're quite good at calming his nerves when he's nervous and he'll definitely need one. He's not a major smoker, just someone who likes them once in a while...

Fears :

Coldness - Like a snake and since snakes need warmth, Satoshi just doesn't work well under coldness. He gets cold quite easily and his core temperature is already lower than normal, making him extremely suceptible to illnesses.

Darkness - He doesn't like it. The feeling of not knowing what's going to happen, how he's going to be... He just doesn't like it. At all. The fear of darkness is something that he wishes he didn't have, but he just can't be himself when it's dark...

Trivia :

Intelligence - His IQ is 181 (hence why he gets into crazy "arguments" with Xanxus, but he can always whip out the card of that he's more intelligent).

Instruments - Playing piano for more than 10 years, currently trying to learn how to play an old and abandoned harp that he found.

Pets - He has found a small corn snake that he has affectionately named "Shimo" (Frost) because of its white body; it often likes to curl around his arm.

Injuries - He has probably went to the hospital more than ten times already and has broken at least five bones in his body.

Fighting - If he were to defend himself by just using his own body, he probably wouldn't be able to do it. A snake body, even though flexible and able to coil well, doesn't too good in fighting. Not that he doesn't know how to defend himself, he just rather avoid getting into physical conflicts.

Lisp - Whenever he's extremely agitated or pissed, a small lisp will start to come out (something he thought he got rid of once he was turned into a hybrid, but sadly not).

allies, acquaintances, and blank faces

Best Friend

Commander || TBD ||  TBD || The Commander was one of the first hybrids that Satoshi met, and it was evident that he was actually more than tolerant of the snake-hybrid. Thus, Satoshi knew that he could always rely on this Commander and from then on, has always done so for both protection and companionship. || Satoshi knows very well that the Commander will protect him at all cost, which is why he prefers to just slink and tag as close as possible to the Commander most of the time. Whatever happens, at least he can blame it on the Commander that he didn't protect him well enough and the fact that he is the 'brain' of the group and needs to be protected because the rest of the team wouldn't be able to do anything without him. Besides, the Commander actually listens to what he says the first time without instantly being distracted or scoffing him.

Friends :

N/A - he doesn't need anyone else, damn it.

Rivals :

Lee Minyung || 17 || cheery, determined, oblivious, helpful || Superhuman || Love Interest section || Love Interest section || Also explained in the love interest section (basic gist is that they have such contrasting but similar personalities that he can't stand the fact that Minyung is just so bright and helpful towards the goddamn world that has been pretty cruel to him)

Chimarire Xanxus || 17 || pugnacious, violent, aggressive, honest || Hybrid || When the team was first assembled || Hates her guts forever and ever, pretty much tries not to just to lash out at her whenever she does at him because goddamn it, just because she's as tall as him doesn't mean that she can talk like that. They tend to get into the most craziest and scariest of arguments because everyone knows that they can kill each other with just one wrong move. || The question would be more like - why wouldn't they be rivals? They're both intelligent, stubborn in their own ways, fast in what they want to do... They're just destined to heads and try to kill each other from the very beginning. They HATE each other. Period.

the backdrop

Family

Mother || Ikeda Izanami || 39 || scientist || careless, laid-back, crabby, critical || She pretty much doesn't even really care about Satoshi at all. Really, all she sees of him is like something that she has to take care of, a pet that someone has asked her to take care, but there really isn't any emotional connection between them. He doesn't care much about her, but then again... He doesn't care about most people anyways, so it really doesn't matter if she does either or not. || Alive

Background : Izanami was born before the war happened, getting her chemistry PH.D just in time when people were beginning to be drafted into the army. Instead, because of her vital skills in developing chemicals, she was spared that and was sent to the institution where they began to start on making chemicals to fight against North Korea. However, it didn't exactly take long or much for her to be lured instead to the N. Korean side, and there with a stable income and job that would never end, she decided to become a spy in Japan to know what was going on before finally moving to North Korea when Satoshi came to age to become one of the researchers for the hybrid project.

let it all out

What superpower do you have : Ah, shall I explain to you how a Nilhon mamushi kills its prey? (smiles innocently) The mamushi venom's lethality as measured by LD50 in mice following intraperitoneal injection is in the range 0.3 mg/kg to 1.22 mg/kg. The venom mostly contains haemolytic toxins, but it also has two neurotoxins—an alpha-toxin that is a post-synaptic inhibitor and a beta-toxin that is a pre-synaptic inhibitor. Because the beta-toxin acts pre-synaptically, its effects cannot be blocked or treated by anticholinesterases. The venom contains an anticoagulant, mamushi L-amino-acid oxidase (M-LAO) and the peptide ablomin. Of course you didn't understand that, but let me tell it to you in your IQ level: simply that when I bite you, you will die within several hours without anti-venom as your fingers and toes will swell, and said severe swelling causes compression of peripheral arteries and/or compartment syndrome of the extremities before gradually moving towards your heart and effectively cutting off your blood system. (sighs happily) It's such a beautiful method of death, don't you agree?

How do you use your superpower : My venom is too precious to be wasted on just anyone. (tilts head and smiles) But I do milk my own venom and who knows... Maybe if you have irritated me, you might just never wake up from your sleep. So sleep tight.

What are you in charge of : Strategist and the only smart one in this knuckle-head group. You want something done or planned? You ask me - politely and with as much respect as you would to the dictator. (shrugs carelessly) Or you might just find yourself killed on the battlefield. Tough luck.

What do you think of the others in your team : (laughs abruptly) Let's make a list of who I hate from the most to least, shall we? Well, the Storm, the Eyecandy, the Lightning and the White Flag. The Commander is the only one I respect, the others are simply just... Let's just put it at that they're below what I thought human beings could go to.

How do you see the world : Ask me that once the war is over. Does it really matter whether or not you want to know what I think? Well, I see the world as an experiment ready to blow. And I'll be watching when it happens. (chuckles lowly)

Love Interest Plotline : The Underdog

How you met : Satoshi supposed he counted himself lucky to be silent and stealthy enough to know when he could sense people - it was an additional boost to what he could already do as a snake hybrid, being able to just sense when and where there were heat (aka people). So when the rest of those clouts (his team) was just stomping around and making the loudest goddamn noises in the world when they were supposed to be on a hunt to find those also damned rebels, he was slinking and moving along like he usually was - occasionally flitting his tongue out to test the air for anything. So much for strategy really, most of them didn't even remember what he told them beforehand to do.

So he was left alone more or less, hissing and mumbling to himself as he moved around a corner and tasted the air again - this time there was something more in the air than just the damp and musty air inside the tunnels. There was definitely something living here, something big, yet he couldn't see anything. What was it?

And it was such a delectable taste on his tongue too, something sweet that made him want to relax; Satoshi immediately recognized it as a favorable musk to his tastes in humans. But he wasn't attracted to any humans or Brids for that matter, so why this scent? And the fact that it looked like no one was here? Nevertheless, he was suspicious, very suspicious as he moved around to check.

There was still nothing here. Damn it. Satoshi was someone who didn't like to be denied what he wanted, and so when he couldn't find the origin of that sweet scent and the fact that he could just feel something breathing inside that tunnel, he hissed out in irritation,
"I swear I heard someone breathing over here..."

Still nothing. And thus, Satoshi was denied what he wanted, unable to do anything more as the rest of the team called him over and he let out one last irritated hiss before having to lurk away back to the rest of the Brids.

He was still going to figure out that scent, no matter what though.

[Brain fart on ideas, I hope you're okay with the fact that I just did the meeting scene from Satoshi's point of view. ><]

How you act around each other : Hate. Just so... So much hate. But there's always just this... This odd feeling that he has with Minyung. Like he also wants to just slam the kid against a wall and just- well, you get the point. It's a lot of and hate throughout because goddamn it, that kid is annoying (even more actually) than Xanxus with his whole upbeat and chipper attitude towards everything he does. Can't the Bat just sit himself down and think for once? Well, of course not. There's nothing Satoshi would love to do more than to sink his fangs into that thin neck and take him over a- Okay, you get the point there too.

So more or less, he just has this weird magnetic pull towards Minyung, opposites attracting really even with how similar in personality they can be. While Satoshi has a bitter and cynical look on the world, it seems like Minyung seems to always have a sunny and cheerful personality towards life. But Satoshi doesn't want to be attracted to him, but what he doesn't know that he can't resist that pull just as much as a North magnet can't resist a South magnet - but he'll try his best until he can't take it any more and then he'll really just sink himself deep into that 'Bat'.

Scene requests :

Hate, but then - They're really just in a vicious cycle; Minyung and Satoshi just get on each other's nerves and then Satoshi snaps and pretty much has to hold himself back from biting Minyung and killing him - thus somehow turning those murdurous thoughts into more... Uhm... ual ones where instead of biting Minyung's neck, he just settles for and marking Minyung because damn it, he just really wants to do something to hurt Minyung in a way that no one else can.

Greed - "He's mine, unless you want venom running in your veins?" Satoshi tends to be fiercely possessive of Minyung, and if anyone, even ANYONE tries to pick on his underdog besides him, he's not going to stand for that. Or even touches him for that matter (coughYangnamcough). And when he does it, no one better stop him from picking and teasing on Minyung because Satoshi is just that much of a hypocrite.

• 'Bat' - On one of his more thoughtful days, Satoshi is just content to watch and observe Minyung for a while... And after a while, he pretty much wandered over to thought of what kind of hybrid Minyung would be. Obviously, a bat and ever since then, the nickname stuck while he harbors the deep and hidden hope that maybe one day Minyung might join his side and he could somehow fix those eyes to let the clumsy kid see for once...

• Follow Me - It doesn't take long for Satoshi to realize that Minyung is blind, and from then on, he can't help but notice the 'Bat' even closer than before. More like watching him so that he's not off tripping himself and oftentimes having to just yank him  around to stop that idiotically bright and cheery kid from banging his head and losing his nonexistent brain cells even more.

Anything else ?

Comments : Blah, please tell me if I did something wrong because I assume that the world would be more or less still going on (with war time school and whatnots at least), so sorry if my app is careless, careless. ><

Suggestions : Please elaborate on how the two sides will really interact? I was a bit confused with that because I thought that they would be hating and trying to fight against each other, so... /chuckles sheepishly and hides

Scene requests :

Showtime - The first time the two sides meet, they actually bicker amongst each other more than they notice and try to fight the other side? Or at least that's what Satoshi is going to be doing half of the time, really.

Strategy - What strategy? One time when Satoshi is trying to elaborate on what he wants the group wants to do, they don't do it and then get into a whole mess of that they can't get out of while since Satoshi is more than careful to not get himself involved, gets the right to just strut around and say, "HAH, TOLD YOU." to everyone's faces.

Scarf - Just a comic moment when Satoshi moves out to do something and one of his team mates thinks it's funny to yank on the end of his scarf and make him nearly choke, thus making them about to be bit in his anger because NO ONE touches his scarf (well, except for Minyung, maybe).

Child - A moment when Satoshi just breaks down from everything that he's gone through and all of the sudden the group freaks out because they've always depended on him being so whippy and cynical that when he actually breaks apart, they don't know what to do at first (perhaps Minyung will snap Satoshi back to his normal self?).

I knew you were going to whip (heh heh unintended pun) something out but DANG GULL. Don't even count this as a review cuz this is just praise XD
He's aweshum Baozi, and the relationship of Minyung and Satoshi... /feels

I need to save the rest for your review but it's aweshum

To answer your question, I blieve Thao and I's idea is that with the war going on, the hybrids have to sift out the rebels, right? And with both of them launching expeditions on each other, they're bound to run into each other (e.g Min and Satoshi). We're thinking that if they get to know each other well enough through multiple encounters, they'll begin to bond, and once that happens, the war will continue, problems will arise, and they will eventually team up.
That may change, but that's what it's at for now? >w<;

Thanks again for applying baozi baozi. :3
