minseo certainly has the image of a and to most people's agreement, he seems like that way. especially with his skills at b-boying and all of his dominating physical traits, minseo really does seem like a simple puzzle to solve. but as cool and quietly chill as he might look and act in the eye of the camera at first, he has a will of iron and a personality so callously honest and blunt that it might just shock most people to realize that. but true to his image though, he is cool, hip and manly as they want him to be. the show is counting on him to project said image because who doesn't love the manly b-boy dancer who is pretty much the backbone of support and stability that the fans can always rely to get from at least one of the contestants?
"do you think you can handle the competition?" "i will try my best. if that is not enough, then i have no regrets."
an idol must be able to laugh at themselves and not hold themselves above everyone else to gain the approval of the audience. fans need to be able to relate to said idol for them to be loved, and probably one of the most important aspects that an idol must have is to be humble and honest. minseo understands that very well, but that doesn't mean he has to express his own worldliness in the same way that other idols and contestants do so. while they would make a fool of themselves and then giggle at their own faults, he simply tackles it in a very direct and straight-forward way - as coolly and factual as possible. no lies, no sugar-coating, no flustering. once he has put his mind to something (and honestly, there isn't many things besides dancing that can really get his full devotion and attention), good luck trying to stop the charging bull - it's the same determination that's gotten him to be such a good break dancer even with the apparent disadvantage that he has with his height. he's always been taught by his mother though that no matter how difficult it is to accept reality, he just has to do the best with what he has - and minseo has taken it to heart. as a realist, minseo simply commits to what he can do best and drops everything else. he knows to never set dreams farther than he can achieve, and he is always ready for life to suddenly flip the entire world around at any moment - which was why when he joined tkd, it was with the full knowledge and readiness that he could be taken out any time for any reason. this is a game show after all, and isn't life one huge game anyways?
"what if something happens on tkd?" "the audience wants the truth, so i will give it to them."
at first, his personality might seem overwhelming and certainly frightful in a way to those unused to him. minseo simply says what needs to be said, no matter how painful or hard it is to say the truth. what if he says the wrong things at the wrong time? what if he says something too harshly and offends someone? but honestly, minseo doesn't care if people are scared for themselves because they should have been prepared for anything to happen. that's one of the reasons why the fans love him so much for who he is; because of the fact that they can always rely on minseo to say the truth and the truth only (discounting the fact that of course, the competition is edited and whatnot at times though). he does not rush, nor make a fool of himself in order to gain popularity or what he wants. his entire life is set in a very methodical and purposeful way, the path that makes him a figurative unstoppable bulldozer. he doesn't hurt people in a fit of anger, no, he'll just simply say something brutally honest (usually something shameful/embarrassing/downright awkward) about someone; no emotions, no strings attached.
"what's the best asset of yourself?" "... you mean... my personality or...?"
which of course, minseo isn't the best person to bring to a party or be in the audience since he is quite dense and seemingly "unsociable" to keep up with his rigidly strong mentality. it's also had the effect of making him more or less... slow when it comes to social etiquette and word play. never ask him to tell a joke or say something clever, because while minseo might be a dependable and stable people to rely on, in no way is he a cunning or socially keen person. jokes fly miles above his head, and subtle innuendos are sure to be missed by him (he'll just awkwardly stare wide eyed in confusion for a while until he finally mulls it over and realizes like a week too late right before he's about to fall asleep) - such as the fact that "all" of his bodily features must be large (/nudge wink). his stubbornness is also a part of why he's so dense; at the age of 23, he's only going to do what he thinks is right for himself, leading for him to often heads with other people and refuse (or very unwillingly follow) orders and tips (exception always being his mother). minseo isn't a knife, he's more like the whetting stone or the column supporting the building - dense, blunt, enduring and completely unbending to others.

minseo always ensure that he comes first; once he has made sure he is safe and taken care for, then perhaps he may pick up the others. why try to save others when your own safety isn't even secured yet? however, he only really cares about those who have managed to be close to him - a difficult task just considering how daunting even being considered his friend is. minseo's apathetic and seemingly uncaring exterior has not made him many friends though, but it is one that has kept almost all of the friends that he has managed to make. just as hard as it is to get into his diamond hard shell, it is even harder to have him break it off. his mother and best friend would be the best testimony of such; each of them figuratively holding a part of his heart (of course his mother holds like practically all of his heart because she is his mother). honestly, minseo doesn't exactly have any other defenses on the inside once his outer spiky hard shell is surpassed. so of course for his mother, it is quite easy for her to push his buttons right and have minseo listen to her every word - but who else can actually do that besides her?
BACKGROUND »
the circumstances of park minseo's birth and family already forshadowed a broken family; his parents had literally gotten together on a blind date, and seemingly because of "love", was rashly married together a month later - his mother was only 18 years old when she had him. fresh out of high school, tall, beautiful, wanted by practically any guy on the street whom she walked past; park hayeon thought she had it all, and that came to an end when she married lee namsung. her dreams of being famous, of being able to use her natural beauty to become a supermodel or a celebrity was now replaced with the worries of being a mother, and her husband did little to nothing to really help her. in all honesty, they were both unready for a child, and the first strains in their marriage came when he suggested that she abort the still unborn park minseo, which hayeon vehemently refused.
so park minseo was born several months later, and while he received minimal paternal love, minseo was adored and cooed over by his mother. for even it wasn't extremely obvious then, but minseo did take after his mother much more with her beauty than his relatively handsome father, making him already a momma's boy even as a baby. however, the cracks in his parent's marriage only widened during his childhood years and the final straw broke when hayeon declared that she was expecting another child; a girl this time. divorce papers were filed, and after everything was settled, hayeon took her toddler son and her newborn baby girl with her to move back in with her parents. from then, it was settled between the two parents that hayeon would receive full custody over the children, and it was honestly the last time that minseo ever cared to see his father.
now living in daegu, things started to look a bit better for the small park family. at least the children had the support of their grandparents while hayeon was busy trying to find a job for herself, and in all, minseo and his little sister had a relatively happy childhood with their grandparents. school was fairly kind to him as well (especially when he had his mother to always wait and walk him home every day), minseo was never one of the brightest like the way his sister was, but at least he got decent grades and stayed out of trouble. honestly though, school wasn't that fun for him, considering that minseo was much more happier just at home with his family than with other kids (and he got all the love he could ever want from his mother and grandparents), so he made no lasting or strong friendships in his early educational years until he met shin rahyun.
the way they became best friends would make them chuckle to think of it nowadays, but back then as just little kids in their first grade class, it was perfectly normal. practically, what happened was that rahyun bounced (quite literally) up to a quiet and stoicly-eating-his-neatly-packed-lunch-from-his-mom minseo and declared that they shall be friends because rahyun had fun-smelling markers, and only his friends could use his smelly markers. thus, minseo was quick to agree (because what kid doesn't want to use fun-smelling markers), and they became steadfast desk buddies after that. their friendship might have stemmed from a mutual love of markers, but they rooted their relationship much deeper than that. as opposites, they attract and support each other; rahyun can always rely on minseo to keep him grounded and "sane" while minseo is always accompanied and introduced to new things by rahyun.
minseo's love of dance originated from rahyun - more specifically, from watching rahyun literally prance around and twirl in the air like a ballerina at his house, which annoyed minseo (as he was trying to read a book and having a twirling and chattering rahyun around him was not helping at all). so after capturing his best friend's attention, rahyun was quick to eagerly explain and show minseo one of the first dance videos that minseo ever watched; a hip hop and break dance video that he had on a vcr. from there, minseo's curiosity was only sparked and from there, it was like his eyes were opened finally to the newly growing hip hop and b-boy scene blossoming in daegu (and practically all over south korea) as he was growing up. minseo received his first "dance" lesson when he was 13 by an ameteur b-boy high school neighbor; simply teaching him how to do a sequence of "top rock", which was the fundamental basis of break dancing.
from there, his passion only grew for break dancing the older he grew up, and while he was in high school, minseo was easily one of the best b-boys in his school even when in other regards, he was fairly average. rahyun's and minseo's relationship strengthed now through their mutual love of dance (even if their background and styles were fairly different), and through teenage boy genius, they decided to form a dance crew together (with the help of several veteran b-boys). minseo had no ambition to go to college after he graduated high school, preferring to stay much more comfortably in daegu with the rest of his solidifying crew, which at first dismayed his mother - who was very afraid of him going down a path like she did.
minseo, however, was confident he wasn't. honestly, he knew that his brains wasn't going to get him far in life, and the best thing he had going for him was really his dancing SKILLS. that was already enough for him to secure himself and his crew, a11egr0, a good respected position in the b-boy and hip hop scene in daegu. on the side, he was also working part time at the local cafe and helping out with rahyun at his dance lessons, so what else could he ask for at the moment? evidentally, not enough for his aspiring and hopeful mother - which was where tkd came in.
LIKES » break dancing as his primary skill set shown (he doesn't mind rapping or doing mostly hip hop dance, but he will always break dance when possible for the audience); food (especially salty and rich food) considering that his metabolism burns like a fire through paper; doraemon, embarrassingly so, like his entire childhood bedroom is decorated in doraemon stuff and he always has something doraemon-ish on in his childhood pictures (he's super super interested whenever the word "doraemon" comes up somewhere in a conversation); loose-fitting (but still stylish) hip hop clothes and accessories like trucker hats, hi-top shoes, tank tops, basketball shorts, sweats, or things he can actually move around in (which also means he has no problems with going shirtless too); english hip hop music like kayne west, far east movement, but he also does like english r&b music (practically anything he can dance and pop his way to); reptiles, he's actually had a little lizard named "komando" for a while before letting the little guy go; darker and neutral colors, he's just not really a big fan of bright and flamboyant ones (please leave his hair black, he prefers it that way)
DISLIKES » becoming constantly compared to eunhyuk (yes, he knows he does look like him and is also dance-focused but it's getting too annoying and too much now that he's in the public eye); being ordered and bossed around (only exception being his mother) which he'll grudgingly do; being punched, hit, or any sort of violence on him; getting his personal space violated (no skinship with him unless he initiates it or he's super close to you which means that ironically, he won't know the concept of personal space around you then); not eating (or not having time to eat); rain or any sort of torrential weather where he gets wet, cold whipped around by or hailed upon; getting teased for his big features (mostly his ears, lips and nose) and his girly real name; cats, he just doesn't like their... catty nature? and the fact that they can probably beat him at a staring contest
HABITS » signature dance moves of a hat bob and flip at the beginning of his dances and a l-kick at the end; always stares wide-eyed and leans away at cameras or anything that comes into his personal space for about a few seconds before reacting or replying; also stares intently at the person he's talking to like they're the only person in the world (this sometimes embarrasses and/or scares people); has a tendency to mess up people's hair (since of course he towers over practically everyone else) or stand protectively over their backs (quite literally breathing on their heads) if they're close to him; absolutely no manners when eating which means he never gets filmed eating or else god forbid, he might just lose all of his fans (just slurps down his noodles like nothing else and has broth flicking everywhere, also has like a meter of space on either side of him because he also just juts out his elbows on the table next to him); snores very very obnoxiously deep and loud whenever he's tired; laughs mostly like a revving up or purring motor; doesn't really blush when embarrassed but his ears does turn completely red and he hides his face down with his hands; has like the most embarrassing daegu "satoori" accent that the mcs and other contestants never fail to make fun off when he gets really excited (because that's when it's the most "thickest") which instantly makes him both annoyed and embarrassed; he has a very distinct "da fuq i am so judging you" kind of face that he makes at whatever or whoever is annoying him or getting into his personal space (very similar to hongbin's judging face)
TRIVIA » has social media accounts of twitter (@kokoroda) where his updates are usually blunt and tsunderely cute things like "i want jajangmyeon" or "hooray for black day for me" or random engrish words like "sup sup sup" and "she got the flight like the g6" while on his instagram (also @kokoroda), he usually posts pictures of a few (shameless) selfies here and there or of some things of interest like hi-top shoes or a cool hat, but mostly pictures and videos of him dancing or posing with his friends and/or crew; does want to go to america one day, specifically brooklyn and do some dance battles with some of the more famous guys over there; seems mostly straight but is more of a closet biual (only his best friend really knows this); his hands and feet and facial features (practically everything about him) is large as befitting his height (especially his feet); his crew name is A11egr0 (each of the crew members has different musicality terms as their street/dance name like Cres or dynam, or in his case, koda); honestly can't sing that well, he's mostly a rap and dance sort of person (he can barely read music and plays piano with one finger) so he tries to avoid singing or talking as much as possible; has informal dance training with his best friend and mostly by learning from other dancers, so knows absolutely practically nothing about more formal dances like waltz, ballet or ballroom dancing; people actually like to compare him to chanyeol too, mostly because of their last names and big features (like their ears!)

REASON FOR JOINING TKD » being a momma's boy, when minseo was scolded by his mother once again and told in a fit of exasperation that he should do something more with his life than just having a mediocre and (seemingly in her eyes) useless life of just dancing with his crew (and sometimes helping out with rahyun in his lessons) and being a barista at the local cafe at the already ripe age of 23. so quite naturally, she directed towards a nearby ad of tkd.
of course, even though part of her reasoning was that she had always wanted to be famous and at the celebrity level with her still apparent beauty when she was younger before meeting her children's father (which pretty much ruined her path to fame), minseo was obedient as always to instantly sign up and was also egged on by his best friend to join. so he decided why not just try out - at least he tried out and whatever happens, happens in there. if he doesn't make it through all the way, his mother can't curse him for at least not trying in the first place.
honestly, minseo isn't too invested in what happens of him on the show, but hey, if he can make his mom happy, that's good enough for him. so of course, his main goal is to last it all the way through the competition and get his fifteen minutes of fame as a celebrity for his mom. besides in the end, at least he's there with his best friend, and that's enough of something to make him satisfied right now.

I don't know about you, but I think this picture fits min seo pretty well, just because of the fact that the high heels on his head could represent... well, control by his mother? and also this one too. lololol
anyways, minseo is going to have his best friend come along with him to tkd, so i just hope you'll love both of them and their... cute friendship? it's very neo (n x leo) sort of a friendship, so it would be alright to base some of their interactions off that pair. ehehe.
as for songs... perhaps don't tease me by speed, 1004 or one shot by bap (oh man, he would totally rock those dances and add some break dance moves in there too) or destiny by infinite?
REQUESTS » perhaps one of his "audition videos" could be this one he does with part of his crew? mostly it was just for the funzies, but it was probably this video that got him into tkd so far as it did. this video could work for him too later as a later performance (or here's the same song but just him solo) or even this one (as a duet with Rahyun?)? and this video is just awesome because it showcases a couple of dance styles, which could totally work if minseo's dance crew came on as a guest appearance with him or even if most of the daegu team are dancers, they could totally work this too. :D
if romance is introduced somewhere along the lines in the story, it would be quite interesting to have him have some sort of feeling or a crush of some sort with one of the other male contestants (or even could have Rahyun and minseo take their best friend relationship to another level)? nothing serious, just perhaps more of his biual nature revealing after everyone was so sure that he was totally straight like a wooden ruler. apparently not! ;p
I wouldn't mind for him to suddenly be pulled out, but considering that his main skills is as a hip hop dancer with just a slight dabbling in rap mostly, i don't find it very likely (and he would prefer the most to be with rahyun in the end anyways) - though it would be cool if he could be put under the tutorage of dynamic duo or some other hip hop group (though i can't see him refusing to be in an idol group if it does come to it especially since his mom has such high expectations for him to be popular and famous everywhere, haha).
