Style: JangMi loves t-shirts and jeans. To her, what defines a perfect t is a graphic t with a v-neck. When it gets cold, she wears hoodies or a leather jacket if she feels edgy. She is a complete sneakerhead and her collection of snapbacks rivals anyone else'. She also loves wearing beanies in the winter. She does not wear dresses or skirts and prefers to go with edgier, darker styles.

Getting to Know You

Getting to know all about you

Personality:

JangMi is confident in herself so no one can ever change who she is just because they don't like her. Her motto in life is "haters gon hate" so she just lives life the way she wants to, not caring about what others think. She's very headstrong and opinionated due to this so she has not fear in speaking her opinion even if it might come out as harsh and offensive. She doesn't mean it that way, though. She just wants her opinion to be made. She aims for perfection so she always scrutinizes everything to search for improvements. Her intentions aren't wrong. It's her delivery that is.

Once she's motivated to do something, you can't get her to stop. She doesn't give up. She's persistent no matter how impossible it seems. Thus, she is very stubborn. She will stop at nothing to get her way. If it means sleepless nights or not eating because she's so focused that she forgets to, so be it. On the other hand, if she's not motivated, she is the laziest person you will ever meet. If you tell her to do something that she does not want to, it will take her weeks to get her lazy off that couch and actually do it so don't ever trust her to do chores.

She makes friends easily but that's only towards people who want to be friends to her. She's naturally friendly, despite her tough exterior. She understands other peoples' personalities and tries to accommodate them but if there is a disagreement between her and the other person, she will not hesitate to defend herself. When there are no agreements, JangMi can be such a dork. She's an idiot sometimes especially when she's with all her friends. When she's with her friends, she loses that "cool, tough" side of her and becomes a laughing mess of idiot.

She can't give advice and isn't the best person to go to if you have a problem but what she can do it make you smile and forget the problem for a while. If your problem, however, is that someone else hurt you, nothing will stop her for using violence to make them pay. She isn't afraid of what people think or do. She will do anything to protect the people she loves. She's extremely impulsive.

As a child, she watched every episode of every season of Poke'mon, Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Power Rangers. She's planning to get another tattoo of half a heart right below her thumb after she gets married so that her husband can get the other half tattooed on the opposite and when they hold hands, the tattoos would form a full heart.
  • -She has two piercings on both her lobes, her right cartilage done (usually she puts a cuff there), and a bar on her left ear.
  • -She hates dogs and cats.

  • -Some examples of her dancing style is here, here, here, here, and here. Besides contemporary, she can also dance hip hop as seen here. More than anything, she wants her dancing to spread a message and inspire people.

Story of My Life

This is where I come from

Background:

JangMi grew up in GwangJu with her parents and most of her immediate family. However, her father's job as a businessman transferred them to a department in New York City so when JangMi was 8, they packed their bags and left for NYC. While her father was based in NYC, he still had to travel a lot to other countries for business meetings and such so the family never bothered getting a car. Instead, they took the subway everywhere. It was at these times when JangMi would encounter the different subway performers who performed because they were doing what they loved, not because they were looking for money. She was especially enticed by a group of break dancers who performed at Grand Station and went there often just to see them. At that point, she knew that she wanted to be a dancer.

Her parents, the supportive people they were, let her go to dance classes as long as she proved to them that she would work hard for it. She agreed. However, her parents accidentally enrolled her in a ballet class instead of the jazz class that she initially wanted to get into. She was different from the girls. They were snobby, stuck-up, girly girls and did not believe she could be as "graceful" or "elegant" as they were. She proved them wrong. She hated ballet but she stuck it out and kept working at it just to show them up. By the end of the year, she was a better ballerina than they could ever be. After that year, though, she dropped out of ballet and enrolled in the jazz class she wanted to be in. It turned out, however, that the ballet classes actually paid off because her background in ballet helped her there. By the time she was 15, she took classes in almost every single dance genre you could imagine. Besides ballet and jazz, she took contemporary, hip hop, modern, etc. She even watched Youtube videos to teach herself how to break dance.

Dancing became her life and she knew that she wanted to make it her future so after having a long talk with her dance instructor regarding the implications of taking dance as a career, her instructor hooked her up with a group in LA called Movement Lifestyle where she could start out. At the age of 16, she moved out to LA and her parents approved it because her father often had business meetings there so he would still be able to care for her. Working with Movement Lifestyle, she met choreographers like Shaun Evaristo, Mari and Keoni Madrid. They taught her and acted as her mentor to shape her into becoming the dancer that she is now. In 2009, when she was 17, she went with Shaun Evaristo to Korea since he was TaeYang's choreographer for "Wedding Dress". She fell in love with being in her country again so she stayed there and through Movement Lifestyle's connections, she was able to survive as a free-lance back-up dancer for a while.

Mother:

Seo SeolMi | 49 | SeolMi is very caring and often overprotective by nature. She has a lot of love in her heart and can't help but love on people. She smiles a lot, even when on the inside she's hurting because she doesn't want to be a burden to people. She's selfless. | Alive | Nurse | She was heartbroken when JangMi decided to move out be realized that her "little girl" was growing up. Through the separation, she doesn't hesitate to continue to show their overwhelming amount of love by sending her care packages on a regular basis filled with things that JangMi loves (like Nutella).

Father:

Seo ChanSun | 50 | He's very happy all the time despite the seriousness his job entitles. He loves joking around with people and making them smile. He tries his hardest to be around the people that he loves but also realizes that his job is important as well. In that sense, he is somewhat of a workaholic. | Alive | Businessman | When JangMi was a child, they would often go to baseball games together on his trips back home. They were avid New York Mets fans and JangMi even has the MLB app on her phone so that she can watch the games even in Korea. Now that they're separated, they both still make an effort to call each other if they know that the other is in the same (or similar) time zones. They love just joking around with each other.

Sibling(s):

Best Friend:

Kris Wu | 23 | Like JangMi, he seems very chic and charismatic but when you get to know him, he is an explosion of idiot. He acts arrogant sometimes but that's just the part of the image he likes to put out there just for fun. He is such a dork. His gummy smile can light up the room but at the same time, his face can intimidate anyone. | Idol/Member of EXO-M | The two act like brother and sister. They love to joke around with each other and he always makes fun of her height by leaning on her with his arm on her head. She hits him jokingly in response. The two cannot stop laughing when they're next to each other. They have a slightly abusive relationship, but it's a loving abusive. | Kris and JangMi had the same circle of friends because the western trainees always tended to gravitate towards each other and create their own dysfunctional "family" since their real family was on the other side of the world. They met through mutual friends and actually went out for a period of time but broke up because they realized they were better off as besties.

Friend(s):

Amber | 21 | Amber is very friendly and outgoing. She is the social butterfly that is friends with almost everyone in the entertainment industry. Everyone can't help but love her. Her boy-ish attitude makes it easy for guys to feel comfortable yet her secret girlish nature keeps girls with her. She loves food and eating is her favorite hobby (that is after skateboarding). She has that undeniable "swag" to her when you first meet her but really, she's just a dork. | Idol/Member of f(x) | Amber is the person JangMi always goes to when she needs advice because she is just such a good listener. They're just really comfortable around each other since they have the same passions, likes, and dislikes. | The two met in LA because they both worked with Movement Lifestyle, JangMi more than Amber, but they already established an acquaintanceship then. Amber auditioned for SM in 2008 and they met up again when JangMi moved to Korea in 2009. Since at the time Amber was the only person she knew, they became friends and over time Amber introduced JangMi to her other friends, including Kris. Now, they joke around that JangMi "stole" Amber's bestie since Kris is closer to JangMi than he is to Amber.

Key | 22 | Key, like JangMi, is confident in who he is and does not care about what others think about him. He is very blunt and speaks his opinion. He's the party type so he's very loud and outgoing. People call him a diva but he would just argue that he has a lot of needs. He can be slightly high strung if things do not go his way but you just learn how to deal with it. | Idol/Member of SHINee | They bicker and fight a lot because of their strong, opinionated personalities, but thet's just how they show each other that they love each other. Imagine a brother and sister constantly fighting. | When JangMi was a free-lance back-up dancer, she jumped from company to company and ended up at SM one time to be a back-up dancer when they performed Ring Ding Dong, of course she was the only girl but it wasn't like the audience noticed.

The Love Interest

Name: Henry Lau

Age: 24

Birthday: 11/10/89

Occupation: Idol/Soloist/Member of Suju-M

Personality: Henry is very friendly and cheery but at the same time has a short temper. He gets mad easily but he tried not to show it so he masks it to look like he's joking when in reality, he's not and is actually very mad. His Korean isn't all that great but it's getting there. He opens up to people easily which is why it is easy for him to make many friends but he doesn't have that many in Korea because of the language barrier so instead of the large circle of friends he used to have in Canada, Henry has a smaller circle of very close friends in Korea. He doesn't talk much but when he does, it's really funny and even though he doesn't talk much, he doesn't leave the situation with awkward silences. He's just naturally comfortable to be around.

How they interact: Like every other guy in JangMi's life, he acts like JangMi's older brother. The two are so close and he's JangMi's "go-to person" when she has a problem and Amber's not around to talk. She basically feels like she can tell him practically anything. They tease each other just because they can and they're just comfortable around each other. They tend to be very touchy with each other just because they're so close. When they're together, he might have his arm around her neck or she would push him from behind with her arms on his shoulders as if she was "his caboose".

How did they meet?: Amber, being the social butterfly she is, also introduced Henry and Amber to each other (who doesn't need more friends?). The three of them (plus Kris or someone else in their circle of friends) would often hang out together just to take a break from the trainee/idol life every once in a while. Amber, who is usually busier than the other two because of f(x)'s popularity, would ditch them every once it a while, leaving JangMi and Henry on their own.

The Back-Up Love Interest

Name: Niel (Ahn Daniel)

Age: 19

Birthday: 16/08/94

Occupation: Idol/Member of Teen Top

Personality:  He's very bright and cheery, yet can sometimes be slightly sensitive and emotional like every other hormonal teenager out there in the world. He's innocent in a sense that he doesn't have a lot of experience dating and such but his raging hormones make him blurt out a erted comment every once in a while. He likes noonas because he like being spoiled by them when they take care of him, so that masculine side of him hasn't completely developed yet but it will soon, as soon as he finishes going through puberty.

How they interact: JangMi doesn't necessarily like younger boys mostly because she doesn't like having to take care of them (explained more in interview questions later) but at the same time she's not mean to him exactly. She's just indifferent meaning she'll talk to him when needed but she won't be making the effort to befriend him. They're not really on bad terms but they're not necessarily on good terms either. She treats him like a stranger even though his bright personality makes it easy for him to approach her. She finds it annoying sometimes but, since he's technically her sunbae (but she's also technically her seonsaengnim (see next question)), she tries not to express that.

How did they meet?: As a free-lance back-up dancer, JangMi had the freedom to work with whichever company she wanted to as she wasn't bonded to a single company by contract. She worked with Changuk (aka Freemind), the choreographer of Teen Top to choreograph parts of their debut single, Clap. Through working with Changuk, she was able to meet the Teen Top boys, but they never got especially close because shortly after she was accepted into Choeun.

Can't Nobody Stop the Fire

Let the Haters sit and stare

Rival

Name: Jay Park

Age: 26

Occupation: Artist

Personality: He's very easy-going and chill. He has that sort of swag to him that you can really find in a select number of Western idols. He's friendly though he seems intimidating with all his tattoos and muscles. He's passionate towards what he does and that's what makes him so driven. He's amazingly talented yet doesn't let it go to his head.

Type of rivalry: Two-sided, healthy

Reason for Rivalry: JangMi and Jay are always trying to out do each other. They want to be able to say that they got the new b-boy move down or show the other the new move they invented.

How they interact: The two act like bickering brother and sister all the time yet they always bicker with a smile because they know that they're just joking around if the insult each other. They like to have impromptu dance battles, even if it is in a slightly awkward place. They both just love dancing and push each other to do better.

Don't Try to Copy Me

We are Different

Stage name: JangMi

Persona: The Tough Chick

Fanclub: Roses

Fanclub colour(s): Gold & Black (explained more in interview questions)

Position: Lead Rapper, Main Dancer

Back-up position: Sub Vocalist, Dancer

Trainee Years: 2

Trainee Experience: JangMi was used to life being away from her family along with the sleepless nights and long hours of training because that's what she did her whole life. She lived for those moments. It wasn't hard for her being away from her parents because she already had established a web of friends who she could consider as her family. What was difficult for her was the lack of room for creativity. She was constantly told what dances to learn and what kind of music she could dance to. She wasn't about that life. Sometimes she felt that the dances were too easy for a dancer of her caliber but there wasn't really much she could do because she had to let the other trainees catch up, too. She hated feeling restricted because this was the first time she was. Before, she was free to do what she wanted, but trainee life for her was a complete turning point. Her way of dealing with it was just dancing some more. On her breaks, instead of resting like everyone else, she just kept dancing but instead she danced to music that she loved in ways that she wanted to so that she wouldn't lose her sense of who she was.

Pre-debut experience: Before JangMi was a trainee, she was a free-lance back-up dancer for different entertainment companies. At the time she started that part of her career, around 2009, she worked with a number of different companies but mostly YG because Movement Lifestyle had the most connections with them. By 2010, she was able to establish connections with many other companies and decided it was time to break away from YG a little bit. She began spreading herself out more and not committing to a single company. By 2011, she realized that she didn't want to live her life that was anymore because as a free-lance back-up dancer, her future was so unsure and decided that she wanted to become a trainee so that she could be front and center on stage, dancing to her heart's content. She didn't want to audition for any of the Big Three because she knew that they already had so many trainees and their chances of debuting were slim so she decided to audition for smaller companies because she had a bigger chance of getting into them. As more companies were created, she sent out her audition tapes to them. Choeun Ent., as an upcoming entertainment company, accepted her.

Random Question Time!

What's your favourite colour?

➳ I love gold because it symbolizes victory. I wanna be able to be successful in everything I do.

Do you have a role model? If yes, please provide a name.

➳ In terms of dancing, I would have to say Mari Madrid. She was my mentor during the time I was with Movement Lifestyle so she really shaped me to be the dancer I am now. She is a huge influence in my style of dancing and I thank her so much for teaching me everything I know. In terms of rapping, I love Tasha, Yoon Mirae, T, whatever you want to call her. She's just so passionate for her craft and doesn't let what other people think affect the music she puts out there. She's so confident in herself not to mention she's such a badass rapper. One day, I wanna be able to freestyle like her. I'm not there yet but I'm working on it.

Do you have a talent which isn't necessarily used for entertainment?

I am good at volleyball because I used to play it in High School but I at every other sport.

Have you ever owned a pet?

➳ No. My dad was always away on business trips and my mom worked most of the time so my family really never had the time to take care of a pet. I've always wanted a pet snake, though.

What type of hairstyle would you like to debut with?

➳ A red bob cut similar to here.

Who is your ideal type?

➳ I haven't found an exact person who can fully encompass what I like in a guy yet so I'll just describe him if you'd like. I like guys who can cook and do the housework for me because I'm just too lazy to do it myself. He would have to be understanding and easily to get along with because I know that when I'm mad, I am not fun to be around. He would have to be able to make me smile and joke around a lot. I don't want to have to take care of them so younger guys are completely out of the picture.

Between MBLAQ's SeungHo and Beast's HyunSeung, who would you rather date?

➳ MBLAQ's SeungHo

Between the winner of the previous question and Super Junior's Yesung, who would you chose?

➳ MBLAQ's SeungHo

What did you do after hearing that you were going to debut with DiCypher?

➳ I felt really normal I guess. I remember being really chill about it. I called my parents and celebrated a bit, though my mom was kinda mad at me for calling her at like 3am in the morning. Haha. She told me to call her again later. My dad was in Australia for a business meeting at the time so we got to chat for a bit. It was nice talking to him again. I think I remember going out drinking with a couple of my friends that night to celebrate but I'm not so sure. Haha. That night was a bit fuzzy.

Send a message to the people who supported you.

➳ I just want to thank you all so much for being there. It really means a lot especially when I missed my family. It's been hard but thanks for helping me get through it all. I really wouldn't be here without you. All you guys, my parents, family, friends, teachers, you all shaped me into the person I am now so thank you. Damn. You guys are gonna make me cry. I don't cry so I'll just stop here.

Do you think you are the cleanest member?

➳ Nope. I'm definitely not. I hate doing chores. I think the last time I did my laundry was about 3 months ago? What saves me is that I have so many t-shirts and jeans that I can go about 6 months without having to do laundry. I hate cleaning. House chores are a . I'd rather watch my animes.

Goodbye Baby

Goodbye

Comments or Questions?: Nope, but if I do then I'll be sure to tell you!

Suggestions: I think EvoL's Magnet would work as a title track or at least a B-side. If the members ever have a solo album, songs by Tasha would work amazingly. Hmmm... maybe a scandal that could happen would be with the high tensions that come with promotions would cause tempers to flare and them to fight therefore something could happen to threaten to make the girls break up (or want to/think about breaking up)? Lol is that too dramatic?

Scene requests: Sorry. I'm not really that creative when it comes to these. Maybe they can have a party in a club after they debut to celebrate and because all the unnis get drunk and end up having a hangover the next morning, the maknae/other under-age members would have to take care of them instead of the other way around? Lol. Idk. Do whatever you want author-nim.

Anything else?: Nope!

Password: Oh gosh... There are seriously so many people out there that are underrated. Can I put more than one? I can't decide!

tumblr_kzob8vJmH11qbnixqo1_400.jpg

Words cannot explain how underrated One Way is. Most people haven't even heard them yet their music is so beautiful. I'm not sure if you know but Chance (the guy on the right) is part of Duble Sidekick and co-produced songs like MBLAQ's This is War and SISTAR's Loving U.

tumblr_mhcjw97f0o1s257fwo1_500_large.gif (500×280)

Eric Nam is just such an anazing and talented singer. His voice isn't necessarily powerful but it has that perfect indie acoustic quality that I love.

tumblr_lrah8m5l9m1r2crvgo8_1280.jpg (538×372)

Homme is one of my favorite duos ever just because ChangMin's voice (of 2AM) and Lee Hyun's voice (of 8Eight) perfectly complement each other. Their harmonies are just beautiful. Not many idols (though I'm not sure if I would count Lee Hyun as an idol) can pull off harmonies since they are so hard to do live yet they do it effortlessly.
