 HEIGHT — 155cm
 WEIGHT — 49kg
APPEARANCE — Her straight hair falls down  the middle of her back and has a cetain chestnut hue to it because she dyed it. Naturally, it's black. Her dark brown eyes are almond-shaped but no one really notices them because they're always hidden behind her glasses no to mention her bangs fall past her eyes. She's not someone who really stands out. She kind of just blends in with the crowd.
STYLE— Her style is very demure and lady-like. She wears mostly dresses and skirts in pastel colors so like baby blues, pinks, and yellows. Neon colors are a big no-no. Usually, there are pretty ruffles and ribbons on her dresses, but not sparkles. Nothing too showy or revealing. She doesn't wear high heels. Usually she wears flats or at the most shoes with heels about 5cm at most. She likes putting ribbons in her hair, if she decides to tie it up.

EXTRA— She only has her earlobes pierced.

TRAITS — umchinah, reserved, determined, perfectionist, blunt, innocent
 PERSONALITY—
"umchinah" is the Korean term used to describe the perfect child, the child any parent would be proud of. In the eyes of the pucblic, she is the epitome of a Korean child. She is hardworking and cares about her family. She gets the highest grades. She is lady-like and demure. It seems as if she is living the perfect life and will reach very high places. She hates this title so much because she knows that she is in fact far from perfect but she doesn't have the courage to correct anyone not to mention that would be kind of rude. There are people who hate her for it because when other parents are all like "oh, why aren't you more like Jangmi?" those kids only harbor bad feelsings of jelousy. She hates this title because it isn't her fault.

She's reserved because she doesn't have the heart to tell people how she's feeling. She would much rather bottle in her emotions because she doesn't want to burden others. At the same time, she's a terrible friend in that sense because if someone goes and insults/hurts her friends, she doesn't have the courage to defend them and speak out what she wants to say. She just keeps everything to herself because she doesn't want to hurt anyone from letting things slip out of by accident.

Maybe it's because she's so small and quiet that she gives off a very innocent aura but she just seems so fragile and weak. If you just meet her, you would just want to protect her and cradle in her you arms in case something bad happens to her or something out ther corrupts her.

She's determined because if she has a goal set in mind, she will stop at nothing to get what she wants no matter what the cost, even if it means sacrificing all her relationships, her health, and her sanity. When she has a goal, nothing else matters but that goal. It engulfs her completely and that becomes the most important thing in her life. She blocks out everything else. You would notice her becoming more distant, but very subtly, until before you know it, you never see her anymore because she's of working to reach her goal. Her biggest goal in life is to be perfect because none of the SKY Universities (Seoul U, Korea U, and Yonsei U) would accept anything less (explained more in background). She will do anything and everything to reach her goals.

To add on about her not being the best friends out there, since she's so obsessed with goals and success, she's not one to consider feelings and emotions a lot. She's not the best person to go for advice for because she looks at the practical side of things or from a logical standpoint. Also, she doesn't really talk much so if you ask her for advice, then she might not even give an answer. She might just shrug her shoulders, pout, and walk away.

 LIKES —
STEM classes (science and math classes)
the little butterflies you get after you succeed at somethings
animals
anime
blending in with the crowd

 DISLIKES
laziness
failure
parties
wasting time on useless things when she could be studying
having the attention on her

 HABITS —
She has a habit of chewing on things(like her pencil or her lip) when she's thinking.
When she's nervous, she can't stay still and would keep swtiching her weight from foot to foot.
She always has to be doing somethign productive so when she's not, she feels very empty and will look for something to do.
She can't look at someone in the eye because she's scared if they see her eyes, something will spark to tell them that she's hiding something.

 HOBBIES —
studying
sleeping (or at least it used to be)
reading (it became her hobby when her grades started slipping)

 TRIVIA —
At night on the weekdays, she goes to a hakwon to study for the college entrance exams and on the weekends goes back to the hakwon to get her grades up on her regular classes.
She has a fear of failure. She's scared that if she fails, then she'll disappoint her parents and then she'll live her whole life with them looking down at her for not being the best that she can be. She's scared that people will look down at her for not being the person she made herself out to be(see background and secrets section). She's been working so hard to get to the top and she's not willing to let that go.
When she's at home, she doesn't really come out of her room. She has a little sign on her door that says when it's okay to come in. Before, it would always say "come in!" because she could manage to finish all her work before dinner but now it only says "please do not disturb!"
She used to have a dog named "Snow" but when she got too busy with school, she had no choice but to give him away(aka put him in a shelter). She doesn't know what happened to him after that.
She used to be obsessed with anime. She loved watching especially fantasy animes like "Fruits Basket" or "Soul Eater" but she hasn't been able to watch any lately.

 BACKGROUND

She's not from some well-off family like everyone thought she was. Her mom works at a samgyetang restaurant. Her father is a seaman who spends months away from the family at sea transfering cargo from country to country. He's always brought home little trinkets and gifts for Jangmi and her mother so when she tells her friends that she got a new bracelet from India or a bag from Thailand, they always assumed that her father came home from a business trip. She never had the heart to correct them or tell them that the bag or the braclet probably came from a marketplace, not a high-end mall, and cost no more than 1000. Though, she never told them that. She lived an average life, like every other average person. She grew up in a loving family who cared for her very much in an average apartment. There was nothing really special. Nothing really "special" happened in her childhood. She was just.... normal.

One day, however, Jangmi was really sick. She forced herself to go to school, though, because she knew that missing a day of school would meen missing a day of classes and having to make up all the work she missed the next day so she forced herself to go to school. The whole day, she had migranes and her head was just spinning. She was having trouble walking straight and her head was burning hot. She still refused to go home, insisting to stay. When it came time to go home, she assured all her friends that she could managed on her own because she didn't want them to worry about her (or for them to know her secret). Jooah, though, didn't buy it and followed Jangmi home without her knowing. That's when Jooah leaned that Jangmi wasn't the rich girl everyone thought she was.

When Jooah confronted her the next day of school, Jangmi was terrified. Would Jooah tell everyone? Of course Jooah was disappointed in Jangmi for lying to everyone so Jangmi begged her not to tell. She was scared everyone would turn on her. From that moment on, their relationship was never the same. The two closest in the group slowly started to drift apart. Jooah never got over Jangmi's lies and Jangmi was always suspicious that Jooah would spill everything.

Her intelligence got her a scholarship to go to school so she could go to a better school instead of the average one her family could afford better. Her drive to do well in school is her family. She wants to get a better job so that she could buy a better house for her family, maybe even afford some apartment in a high-rise like the rest of her friends.

School has been a breeze that past 3 years in high school. She was always gifted with brains, so she decided that senior year she would take all the hardest classes. College loves initiative, right? They love it when you push yourself to your limit and still succeed, but ever since she made that decision, she regretted it the most. Now, her grades are dropping. She's terrified. What is she doesn't get into any of the SKY schools (Seoul U, Korea U, or Yonsei U)?  What if she loses her scholarship? This last year in high school has forced her to take drastic measures just to keep her grade up.

 SECRETS —

Obviously, one secret is that all her friends believe she's from some rich family and her dad is a businessman. She's never brought a friend home or introduced them to her parents so they have no idea. Though, they never asked and they were the ones who came to that conclusion so she's not really lying, right?

The "drastic measures" mentioned in the last paragraph of the background section is that fact that she's been sleeping with her homeroom teacher in order for him to manipulate her grades. All the subject teachers send the grades to him to input into the grading system so he has control over everything. She paniced when she for her first F in her Advanced College English class. She begged him is he could do anything about it and was the only option he gave her. She had no choice but to comply. She feared the disappointment in her parents' face if they were to see that grade. She feared the rejection from all her colleges if they were to see it.

People assume she's naturally smart. Well, she is but the rigor of the classes she's taking is just too much for anyone. She takes all Advanced College classes in which they condense two years of college classes into one year of hgih school so that she wouldn't have to take those classes in college (she saves money like that. She takes Advanced College English, Chinese, Korean Literature, Calculus, Physics, Biology, and 20th Century Korean History. It's just too much. People assume that she's just so smart that she doesn't have to study but what people don't see are all the sleepless nights she has and the hours of studying she does. If people only knew how hard she worked...

Jooah's death wasn't all sad for Jangmi. It was more bittersweet. Yes, she was devestated that one of her closest friends was dead but at the same time, she felt relief because she knew that Jooah's death meant her secret was safe again. Finding Jooah's body for her brought more of a sense of closure. By physically proving that Jooah was dead, she knew her secret wasn't jeopardized anymore.

LOVE INTEREST — Heo Young Saeng, 27, SS501
 PERSONALITY —
He was always known as the cold teacher. He was never exactly nice or cheery. He is very serious about his work. If you ask a stupid question, expect a sarcastic remark from him. He was the teacher that would always give the lowest grades and nitpick at the smallest things like not putting a period at the end of sentence or spelling errors. Maybe you didn't format you paper right and had size 11 font instead of 12. Yea, he would deduct 10 points. Smiles on his face were rare.

He knew everything. If there was a new couple in school, he knew and he would pick on them especially in class, pointing out even more for them to pay attention. If he had his back to the class and was facing the board, he still knew what was going on. If he left the classroom for a short while to tell another teacher something, he knew exactly who got out of their seat or who spoke and what they said. It is kind of scary. Everyone in school is scared of him, that it except for Jangmi.

 HISTORY

He is currently her homeroom teacher but in previous years he was her Korean Literature teacher, specifically in her sophomore year. This year, though, he was promoted to homeroom teacher. In class, she's very focused. While she wasn't very vocal and didn't participate much, she did all her work quickly, accurately, and quietly.

He was always very proud of her as a teacher. She was his best student after all. He did tend to favor her over the others. Instead of that cold attitude he showed to all the other kids, he would give her a small smile every once in a while when she mustered up the courage to raise her hand and answer a question. He graded her paper easier than the others. When she forgot to put the margins at 1 inch, he deducted only 2 points.

He sheds his cold attitude completely when the two are alone together. Sophomore year, she would often spend school in his classroom to study because he stayed late doing work like she did and no one else stayed in his classroom since they were all scared of him. It was at these times that the two got closer. He would give her genuine smiles and even a laugh every once in a while. If it would get late, he would order food for the two of them, though Jangmi would insist on paying for her own portion. What she didn't know is that he would always slip the money back into her bag when she wasn't looking. She saw nothing wrong with it. She was studying. That's it.

 TRIVIA —

The reason he's helping Jangmi despite it going against all he stands for as a teacher is because he favors her over the others and it breaks his heart as a teacher to see his favorite student failing. He had to set up their arrangement because he's still a teacher and her can't give out free grades. He didn't want to give her extra credit because he knew the reason she was failing was the huge workload she had and extra credit would only make it worse. He chose because he's a man and he has needs.

He feels the need to create this cold, harsh, mask around the other students because as a relatively new (and young) teacher, he wants to be able to control them and show they can't mess around with him just because he's inexperienced. He's not a pushover. Her grades so harshly because he wants to push the students to do better by giving them lower grades so that they can work to get even higher ones.

REQUESTS — Haha. Sorry. I'm not really creative in this area.....
COMMENTS — Is it okay that I put a lot of into Jangmi's storyline? I wasn't really sure how far you were going to push it for her not being as prudish as she seemed to be...
