How does this relate to Vanessa? Like most of the female population in the States, she got into the craze as well and read all the books, which she loved. Michelle read the books as well but didn't like them as much as Vanessa did and so she started calling her Nessie to . And it kind of stuck. Many don't know the meaning behind this nickname but they believe it just came from "Nessa" and the "a" was replaced with a "ie."

Personality: When people first meet Vanessa, they don't think nothing of it. She just seems and acts like your typical and average girl with simple smiles, easy conversations and casual laughter. There is nothing too interesting about her to take note of but once people begin to truly get to know her, they realize there is more than what meets the eyes and Vanessa is by far from being any ordinary girl. That may be how she comes off to people and the side she shows and there is nothing wrong with that... But she does that for a reason. In her mind, if people are really interested in wanting to get to know her, then they'll stay despite her "average" girl image and not just group her with other girls and whatnot. That's what Vanessa wants but many people don't stay long enough to know the real her because of that image which explains why she has such few really good friends. Which is quite a lost for others because once you befriend her, she'll be undoubtfully loyal.

Getting to know Vanessa better, you began to see she is an entirely rational and responsible person. Vanessa has always been much more mature for her age than she really should be and never once had she been tempted into the same things that many other people her age have been. She uses her head more than heart and prefers to be rational with everything she does instead of letting loose and being crazy because she'd rather not face the consquences. But if something were to happen and it was her fault, she'd take full responsibilty in a heartbeat. Sometimes, if it involves someone that she cares very deeply for than she'll take reponsibilty no matter the consquence if it means not seeing the one she cares about harmed. And because of this, she's very loyal to those she cares about; always sticking by their side through the ups and the downs and being a great support. Vanessa has never been one to just abandon something or someone when the going gets tough... I suppose you could say she's stubborn in that way and is never willing to give up even if that means possibly harming herself.

Vanessa has always been an obsservant person of the people around her and been fascinated by human interaction. You can tell how someone is feeling just by their body language and she loves that. She loves learning about the inner working of the mind and sometimes goes on about random stuff about the mind and how it works and... Let's just say that it sounds she's reading off of some cheesy fortune cookie. She uses this knowledge and interest in order to solve problems and conflicts within the group, with her friends, her family and sometimes even strangers. Vanessa solves problems by taking something and turning the entire situation around so that the people in conflict can see what the other is going through. Sometimes she uses words and the conflict ends quick and just like that when they realize what the other is going through and the rest of the time it's usually a gradual process that she solves by using words and small interactions that when they all add up, it makes a huge conclusion. But there are sometimes when she just plains looses it with the people she's trying to help or the problem she is trying to solve and just... She becomes lost, confused, and isn't too sure what to do. Vanessa we'll get over it eventually and get to back to what she is doing after she rethinks her tatics. But in the end, she'll always somehow solve it with her knowledge of the inner working of the human mind and I suppose she's called the peacemaker for a reason.

She has proven to be quite a perfectionist with the way she worries over every little detail. Vanessa strives to be perfect and won't accept anything less. At the same time, she's rather blunt with her words and sometimes she doesn't think when she speaks causing the people she cares about to get hurt and it makes her instantly feel bad. She always says that she needs to change that aspect about her but she never has. There is always a bit of temper to speak about. She doesn't get angry or upset easily, but when she does... Let's just say she never uses actions but always words. And her words sometimes really hurt like mentioned. She means no harm but it sometimes seems like she does. She also doesn't have much of a sense of humor either and her jokes are always really bland and dry, but people laugh anyway not wanting her to get upset. Most of the time, jokes have to be explained to her or she'll just laugh and act like she understands but she really doesn't. She'll think about it all day and once she understands it, she snaps her fingers and always says "I got it." This causes people to give her strange looks of course, but she doesn't mind because she finally understood the joke that has been haunting her. Overall, she's just a very kind, responsible, loyal and rational person.

Vanessa doesn't change much as an idol, but she's much more lively and very talkative during interviews, shows and even during fanmeets, which is how she gained the "lovely" part of her persona. On stage, of couse she's charismatic but she also holds this air of... perfection... Not as in she's perfect, but you can tell she's trying to give you the best perfomance she possibly can.

Nathan is a very kind man but his strictness tends to overtake that sometimes. Leo is very blunt with his words and always says what is on his mind no matter what the situation. He loves taking risks and isn't afraid to show it much to the family's annoyance. She's very in touch with her emotions and that is shown through her singing. People view her as airheaded sometimes, but Stephanie does have a very good head on her shoulders. However, he is a very responsible and respectable young man who happens to be very talented in multipe areas such as composing, singing, dancing, rapping, acting and even playing a few instruments. Zoey Dickson | 22 | April 1, 1991 | Fashion major; Intern at a fashion company | She's a very quiet and creative girl. Zoey may not speak much but when she does, people always stop to listen because it usually means she has something important to say. She's also very kind and supportive of others no matter what. | They met in pre-school and were paired together to be "buddies" which means they did everything together basically and they have basically been in all of the same classes since then. It became a habit to just do everything together. | 9 | Completely similar to Vanessa's and Joohyun's friendship but Zoey likes listening to Vanessa speak and go on about her life rather than doing the opposite. The Journey

Background/History: Vanessa was born on Halloween in 1991 at midnight to two full Korean parents, one being born and raised in Amercia and the other in Korea. Even though she was born in San Francisco, she grew up and was raised in Diamond Bar. Her childhood was remarkbly normal but if you were to ask her family, she's always been very mature for her age and never did any of the things her brother and sisters did when they were her age. She never lied about anything and if she did wrong and was responsible for her actions, she would admit up to it. But sometimes she would take responsibility for things that weren't even hers to do so for. Vanessa was a loyal and obedient child growing up, always listening to her elders, parents and teachers... She was never a troublemaker. Her life was never changing and normal until sometime in 2002 when her mother passed away.

Vanessa was only 11 at the time, Stephanie being 13 and her oldest sister being 16 while her brother was 14. It was devestating and a really hard time for them but they each found their own way of coping. Vanessa and Stephanie just both happened to find it in music. Stephanie was getting into kpop while Vanessa just loved music in general and listen to about anything - as long as she liked the song, it didn't matter who sung it. They both took up singing but Vanessa never saw it as something she would like to do forever and only took vocal lessons and joined choir; it was a hobby... A past time. Their dad never thought anything about it and if it helped them cope with their mother's death, he was all for it. He was fine with it as long as they joined a respectable work force and not take singing as an actual proffession... Vanessa was fine with that, she was always interested in psycology and wanted to be a psycologist. But it seemed that Stephanie had other plans in mind.

In 2004, Stephanie was casted into SM Entertainment through their Starlight Casting System in Los Angeles. All Vanessa could recall is coming home from a friend's place one evening and found both Stephanie and their dad arguing. He was completely against the idea of her becoming a singer; an idol. He wanted her to join the business career but that's not what she wanted. Out of spite, she packed up her belongings and in three weeks, Stephanie was flying to Seoul. Vanessa was 13, Michelle was 18 and Leo was 14.

For the next three years, the Hwangs didn't have much contact with Stephanie and she left a slight discord with the family. But they went about their lives as if nothing happened. In early 2007, Stephanie contacted them, saying that she would be debuting later this year and that she would love it if they came to visit before then. And thus, Vanessa found herself flying to Seoul alone at age 16 to visit her sister.

Finally in Seoul, she was greeted at the airport by Stephanie and later on met her members. Vanessa met Seo Joohyun, a person who would soon become her best friend. During her short visit, she watched a music video for a newly debuted group group called Wonder Girls for their song Irony. Vanessa was in awe by the rapper of the group but she dismissed it. A few days later, Joohyun took her to a live performance at Music Bank, where Vanessa saw the Wonder Girls live. And the rapper... She never believed in love at first sight until now.

Afterwards, when her and Joohyun were on their way out, Vanessa accidentally ran into somebody and guess who it was? The rapper from Wonder Girls. Wonder Girls was leaving as well and Vanessa couldn't seem to find her words as she just stared in shock. And no, it wasn't because she didn't know how to apologize in Korean. Vanessa could speak the language and understand it fairly well. No, she was just in shock to be so up close and personal with the person that she was earlier left in awe by. Joohyun intercepted and apologized in Vanessa's place, saying that she was American and couldn't speak or understand much Korean. Later on, Joohyun told her to study more Korean because the entire situation was embarrassing. Vanessa glumly agreed.

Vanessa came back to Seoul for the last two remaining weeks of her summer break that year. She was coming back to attend the debut stage for Stephanie, now publicly known as Tiffany, and for Joohyun, now known as Seohyun, who she had kept in contact with since her first visit. Vanessa was disappointed however when she found out that the rapper she liked was no longer in Wonder Girls and left due to health problems. A few days later after Stephanie's debut stage and dealing with not only her tears and hugs from her sister but from her sister's eight members as well, Vanessa had a day to wander around Seoul due to Girls' Generation's busy schedule. When was turning around a corner, she accidentally ran into someone. Guess who? The now former rapper and member of Wonder Girls. The rest is history.

Vanessa returned back home to Diamond Bar afterwards and befriended the rapper; Kim Hyuna. All was good and well until in 2008 when Stephanie called home to reveal she has vocal nodules and the condition had given her dysphonia, affecting the range of her singing voice. She said not to worry and that she would be recieving treatment. And she did and her voice returned back to normal. Vanessa graduated from Diamond Bar High School in the class of 2009 with the people of the graduating class that year who had decided to graduate at the end of the first semester (December 2008). She graduated a year earlier than she was supposed to due to her high academic performance and credits. She also graduated with honors. Vanessa recieved an early acceptance into the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and began attending in January with a major in psycology. But her time was cut short when Stephanie was begining to experience slight problems again in April. Vanessa flew out and upon seeing her sister, she made the decision to stay in Seoul to help take care of her sister. She managed to tansfer into Seoul National University and would begin taking classes immediately. Around the time, Hyuna and her began officially dating and Vanessa  became a trainee at SM... Talk about alot going on.

Either way, I suppose it was a good thing she stayed because Stephanie's voice was being affected more drastically than before later on in 2009 and had to take a break from activities in September in order to recieve treatment from the hospital. She also had difficulties in 2010 and had to take a short hiatus while she was hospitalized again. When she was better, Vanessa could have came back to California but her life was now in Seoul with her sister, Hyuna, Joohyun and her new friend Levi.

Pre-Debut Experience:
- Featured in soloist Suho's You Are My Only One.
- Backup dancer for Hyuna.
- Did some modelling for online shopping mall Cherrykoko.
- Made several cameos in Reply 1994 as a Seo Taiji and the Boys fangirl.
- She has also made several guest appearances in Girls' Generation's shows and has been mentioned in interviews and so forth by the members as well.
Trainee History: Although Vanessa was hesitant about becoming a trainee, she wanted to give it a try to see what her sister had to go through. Their dad was more okay with letting Vanessa go ahead with it only because if it didn't work out for Vanessa, she always had psycology to fall back on as a career. She was accepted into SM under special circumstances because of her sister. Vanessa didn't get along well with other trainees because of it and felt uncomfortable. She was actually being considered to join f(x) as the sixth member months before the group's official debut but Vanessa refused and the actual members weren't too fond of the idea so the company decided she would join at a later date after a little more training but it never happened. Vanessa left the company in January of 2010 and found herself at Cube. She liked it there and trainees treated her with respect. Once again, she was going to debut under A Cube in Apink but she left the company at the beginning of 2011 before Apink's debut due to the fact that she felt like Cube just wasn't for her. Thanks to Levi being fairly good friends with MBLAQ's G.O, she was able to get an audition with J.Tune and got accepted with her own abilities and talents, not who her sister was. She loves it at J.Tune and gets along well with the trainees, staff and the idols there. People don't treat her any different just because she's the younger sister of Tiffany.

The Netizens: Sones in particular have a hard time believing that Kyle is her "twin" only because never once has Tiffany mentioned having another brother besides Leo and everyone knew of the existence of Vanessa but never of Kyle. There is a belief they could be the same person but they more or so believe that the two only share the last name and look kind of similar, so the concept of being twins appeared. As for others, they honestly believe the two are twins and that they're two different people.

Style: Her sense of style is very soft, feminine and simple. All of her clothes are very bright (in a sense) and cheery and she seems to own quite a bit of shorts, dresses and skirts due to the fact that she grew up in a very warm climate, even during the winter. Brights colors do not do Vanessa justice and prefers the paler and softer shades of all colors instead of neons. To be honest, it's whatever the ulzzang wears but she does wear quite a bit of band t-shirts such as Fall Out Boy, Paramore, Panic! At The Disco and so forth. Style: She dresses very stylish and simple when she's a guy. Extra: Krystal from f(x); You know, you would think that Krystal would be aware that Vanessa and Kyle are the same person considering the two have known one another for a long time and not once has Tiffany or Vanessa mentioned another brother besides Leo. But either way, Krystal is attracted to Kyle. Vanessa had seen Wonder Girls's music video for Irony a few days ago and the rapper instantly attracted her. When they were leaving after the performance, Vanessa accidentally ran into someone and that happened to be the rapper. Of course Vanessa was in shock and couldn't even find the words to apologize, so Joohyun had to do it for her with the excuse that Vanessa was American and couldn't speak and or understand Korean very well when the truth was Vanessa could understand and speak it just fine. Maybe a little rusty and she had an American accent, but still. The two officially meet again in August of the same year when Vanessa came back to Seoul to spend the last few weeks of her summer break before going back to school in order to attend her sister's debut stage. Hyuna had to withdraw from the Wonder Girls about a month ago due to health reasons and it left Vanessa kind of disappointed. They ran into one another as they were both turning a corner in the city. Hyuna recognized her almost instantly as the girl who ran into her earlier this year, the one who couldn't even apologize properly. With Hyuna saying that they neded to stop running into one another like this because it'll become a habit and with Vanessa replying that she wouldn't mind that, the rest was history.
Relationship: Very loving. Of course their interactions take place more in private due to the fact that Hyuna is a public figure and Vanessa kind of is as well because everyone recognized Tiffany of Girl's Generation's younger sister. Their relationship isn't very ual (of course there are times when it is, but I am not going into detail about that) and it relies on more of the feelings and the words exchanged. Common interactions are snuggles, kisses and hugs of course but they also nag one another as well. And by nag I mean that they often get onto one another about the tiniest things such as you missed a spot on the dishes which leads to one of them going about how they did not and blah, blah. The usual nagging involves haircuts, dishes, when did you last bathe, did you leave the TV on the night before and etc. They do argue, what couple doesn't? But when they do have a disagreement they don't blow it out of the waters and try to remain calm about the situation and talk it over. The problem usually get resolved thanks to Vanessa though. They always support one another no matter what the other's decision which can be kind of hard sometimes considering that Vanessa feels uncomfortable from time to time because of Hyuna's very "y" image and concept but if Hyuna is okay with it, so is Vanessa. They feel very comfortable and at ease with one another and they feel like they can just be themselves. The two do talk about spending the rest of their lives together like ACTUALLY getting married in the States and moving there, having a family and Vanessa becoming a psycologist and so forth. Overall, they're like any other sweet and very much in love couple~ But as a side note, their relationship is out in the open with their family, friends and members. Hyuna's family was okay with it but felt on edge about it until they actually met Vanessa, and upon meeting her they decided that their daughter was in good hands. They're still uncomfortable with it from time to time but they're pretty much okay with it. Same goes with Vanessa's family. (Hyuna doesn't call Vanessa unnie.)
What do they think of her pretending to be a boy half of the time? Hyuna finds it amusing. She always said that Vanessa would make an attractive guy so at the same time she kind of likes the idea. It's different and Hyuna has always liked the different. They don't talk about it much but Hyuna will sometimes asks what it feels like to walk around and act like a guy.

How they met: They met during Vanessa's short time at SM. Levi was still a trainee then and Vanessa was being given a tour around the company building by one of the staff members. Levi was walking down the hall and heading towards his voice lessons when the staff stopped them. They introduced the two and said that the two are both from the States, Vanessa being from California and Levi from New Jersey, and that they hoped the two would get along well. The two just kind of stuck together since then.
Relationship: They always speak in English to one another and hardly ever in Korean. She just calls him by his name instead of 'oppa" like she should. He's very sarcastic towards her and she usually just ignores him during those times. However, Levi does give her good advice and tends to help her alot in difficult situations. When Vanessa debuts, she often says she's a huge fan of Levi Bae's work and he claims that he's a fanboy of Vanessa from Ladies' Court. The two talk alot on the phone together, everyday basically, and they talk about their days and how they're doing as well as the events and happenings in the society around them. She spends alot of time in his apartment in Seoul, often lingering around when he's writing and watches his TV and eats his food. He doesn't mind but often jokes that one of these days she's going to eat him out of all his food. Overall, they have a very sincere and good relationship.
What do they think of her pretending to be a boy half of the time? He's aware but just doesn't care. He never brings it up except for maybe a joke that follows along the lines of "so, how does it feel having a ?" and so forth. Did I mention that he's the one that kind of helps her cope with acting like a guy and gives her advice on it as well? Well, he does.

Thoughts about other applicants: 

Bai Xue/Yule: She has alot of respect for Yule and they get along fairly well (in her opinion) due to the fact that Yule is her co-leader but she admits she was hesitant about Yule at first because she was Chinese and held no Korean heritage at all. But Yule proved her wrong fairly quickly and thus she has respect. She's one of the few people that she has no problem calling "unnie" and goes to her when she needs help with something, maybe not always first... But she does go eventually. Pretty good thoughts overall.

Cho Jini/GNi: Vanessa is the most likely the only one who likes Jini's nagging believe it or not. Because  Vanessa's mom passed away when she was young, she never really got to experience the nagging a mother would give to their child. Similar to Yule, Vanessa respects her and has no problem calling her unnie. Overall, just good thoughts.

Yang Yaeyoon/Y.Hae: ^_^;  -- That is her face the entire time while talking to Yaeyoon. Yaeyoon is a little bit too high strung for Vanessa's liking who has always hung out with more chill and pretty calm people. But she has no ill feelings for her. Vanessa just wishes that she'd be calm and less... loud. Yes, loud. No bad feelings. She likes the girl enough though.

Nam Hyojung: Vanessa doesn't know what to make of Hyojung and makes attempts in trying to understand her but just gives up as a whole because the girl just isn't giving. She has no problems with her at all and thinks she's a rather sweet girl, a little too introverted for Vanessa's liking, but very sweet. Vanessa just wishes that she would open up more is all. And about that cockiness... When it comes, believe me when I say that Vanessa won't tolerate it and will be the first one to hit in her the head. Just sayin'.

Jung Yoonhee/Ryn: Just a very kind and sweet girl. Vanessa has no problems with her.

Kim Hyunsook/Angie: Angie makes Vanessa have mental breakdowns to the point that she can't stand to be in the same room as her and often does leave the room for a breather after talking to the younger female most of the time. One of these days, Vanessa is just going to have enough of her being so disrespectful and blow up at her... But who knows? However she does find the whole "OTP! OTP!" thing amusing to the point of endearment... Just as long as the younger female doesn't mention any OTPs that might involve Vanessa's older sister, it's fine by her.
