I Hear Your Voice - Kdrama Review

image

Holy crap. I literally just finished watching the Korean Drama, I Hear Your Voice. ///DEEPBREATHS. Guys. I you not. I haven’t been this obsessed with a drama since The Innocent Man. While mentioning that drama, seriously. I Hear Your Voice brought back my Innocent Man feels. I can’t even. ; U ; Hands down, best drama of 2013 by far. This drama just took the K-drama world by storm. The characterization, story telling, messages, music, quality. EVERYTHING, was nearly perfect. Once again ladies and gentlemen, I have nothing but good things to say about a drama.

Let’s start off with the characters. I admit, I thought this was going to be just like any other drama. The same kind of lead female role, and the same kind of lead male role. Man. I was wrooonnngg. I literally didn’t know what hit me. Each and every character had so much to them. In many dramas or stories in general, the side characters tend to get washed out, however, for this drama, it was totally different. The side characters gave the story an even bigger point, and I just loved how they were used. The leads, Jang Hye Sung and Park Sooha were simply amazing. The character development was literally so awesome. It was so gradual, that I really didn’t notice it until the drama neared the end. Now, I’m very observant, but the fact that I didn’t noticed until near the end makes this drama all the more amazing. The story writers seriously did their job right. And guys, when you keep reading this review, you will see me complimenting the writers a lot.  BUT ANYWAYS. Each and every character was so charming, and I couldn’t help but grow fond of them. I loved, loved, loovveddd the comic relief from Yoo Chang (Choi Sung Joon), and the three judges. The character Min Joon Gook was absolutely terrific. As the story unravels, you begin to sort of understand why he would commit such crimes. I admit, I did end up feeling bad for him. Putting the crimes he’s committed aside, he really was pitiful. His character was very realistic, and I just loved it. So basically saying, the character development was top knotch, the growth of the characters were very gradual, and just the plain presentation of the characters was amazing. Hands down, the most realistic character development I’ve ever seen in a Kdrama. For example, when Lawyer Jang got the call from Min Joon Gook saying he has Sooha captive, she kind of just lost all of her rational senses. And I know a lot of you guys complained about that kind of, but think about it guys. When you’re in panic mode, your mind doesn’t really function correctly. So yeah. It was just magnificent.  And can we just take a moment and really appreciate the gradualness of the physical change of the characters? In most dramas, it’s just like, one hairstyle in one episode, and a total different one in another. This drama was just so spectacular in this and it just completely blew me away. (Wow, just talking about the characters was long. //OTL)

THE CASTING! Guys. It was literally so perfect. I admit, I was never a Lee Jong Suk (Park Sooha) fangirl until this drama. Maybe it’s because I’ve never seen him in anything else other than I hear Your Voice. Haha. But seriously guys. Can we all just take a moment and appreciate Lee Jong Suk’s amazing acting skills, regardless his young age? I was mind blown! No joke. With his acting, it made me actually believe he was hurt. It made me believe Sooha’s love for Lawyer Jang. That’s the best thing an actor could ever do. There are no words that can describe how amazing he was. He most definitely played his role justice. I’m really looking forward to watching him in future projects. Lee Bo Young, who played as Lawyer Jang, oh my god. She was fantastic. I loved her crying scenes. They were so real, and I’ll admit. I cry like that. Because when you cry, you typically don’t just outright ..idk..cry. It’s more like you’re trying to push the feeling away, and the more you avoid, then worse you feel and the more you end up crying. It was very realistic, and I just completely loved her acting.  Yoon Sang Hyun who played as Lawer Cha simply did a terrific and amazing job. His acting just touched my heart, and I loved it. Jung Woong In, who played as Min Joon Gook was phenomenal. His acting too was very realistic, and I couldn’t have asked for better. Now someone else I would really like to talk about is Kim Ga Eun, who played as a side character Sung Bin. Her acting was very refreshing, and I will most definitely love to see her in more projects. And as much a I would LOVE to talk about everyone involved in this film, I unfortunately can’t. //SIGH. But really, everyone did such a great job, and I couldn’t have asked for better. AND OH, BY THE WAY. The chemistry between Lee Bo Young and Lee Jong Suk was simply amazing. Don’t you guys think so?

Rather than speaking about the storyline, I think I’m going to just talk about how the story was presented. Seriously guys. I give big props to the writer of I Hear Your Voice, Park Hye Ryun. While watching this whole drama, I continued to be more and more amazed by this amazing writer, up until the very last minute. I can typically point out foreshadowing pretty easily. HOWEVER. This drama..seriously. The last episode surprised me a lot. There were just the little things that happened during the drama that came back up in the last episode. It was amazing, and once again. I give lots of props to this writer. Actually.. YOU KNOW WHAT. STANDING OVATION GUYS. Seriously. I couldn’t have asked for a better story from an amazing writer. From the way the characters were written, to the following order of events that happen in the story, and to just the story in general. It was magnificent, and I just completely fell in love. I really admire this writer, and I really hope that one day I’ll be able to write an amazing story such as this. //clapclapclap. By the way, did you know this writer wrote Dream High? Omg.

THE MUSIC. Guys. The music was the best thing in the world. Typically, I admit, in Kdramas, the OST’s do get rather boring and overused. However, for this particular drama, I never got tired of the OST’s. Literally, the song choices were perfect, and they really did match up with the scenes well. So I really enjoyed the music used, and they mixed everything really well together in general. So seriously guys. At least watch this drama for it’s amazing music. //otl

I was pretty satisfied with the ending. No joke guys. It just made me smile so much through my pouring tears. Y’know? The best kind of smiles..LOL Maybe not. But really. I loved the ending, but let’s face it. I loved everything about this drama. I was just very satisfied with the whole drama in general. ♥

Overall, I didn’t just like this drama. I completely LOVED it. I loved nearly everything about this drama. I absolutely have no complaints, and I actually think this is the first time I haven’t had complaints ever since The Innocent Man. This drama literally always had me sitting on the edge of my seat. It was just that good. There was not one episode where I was bored. It’s just, the transitions were spectacular, the characters were amazing, and just the over all story was just drop dead fantastic. This is a high end drama, and I’d definitely re-watch the whole entire thing again. And you guys know me. I really don’t re-watch things. So this is very rare.

In MY opinion, this has got to be the best Kdrama of 2013 by far. I’d be surprised if there will be another drama to top I Hear Your Voice this year. Seriously. Really surprised. Haha. Everything was just so perfectly done in detail, and I, as a viewer, really appreciate that. I hope to see more future work with the writer Park Hye Ryun. I Hear Your Voice will most definitely be on my top kdrama favorites of 2013. I think I’ve actually found a drama that’s rather worthy enough to compare to The Innocent Man. ;D Awesome.

I think I’ve got all the points  I wanted to say done. SO YEAH! I’d really recommend this to people who just love a good story and awesome memorable characters. Really, you won’t regret it. If you’re kind of iffy because of the age difference between the leads, all I have to say is, don’t worry about it. Just accept it, and I guarantee you’ll love the drama. I admit, I was iffy as well, but eh. Whatever. LOVE IS LOVE. And when I saw the chemistry between the actors, I couldn’t help but just go with it. Wow, that was cheesy. But it’s true right? Haha, yeah.
