Personality: 

Cheerful, kind-hearted and charitable are usually the words used to describe Saerin. Niceness is underrated. She is very empathetic and understanding, always quick to grasp when another member is feeling down and quick to act upon it. Saerin is a person who genuinely cares for the wellbeing of other people. However, do not think that because of this, Saerin is a "wise, sensible mother" of the group; she loves having fun and has a cheeky sense of humour. She is definitely one for the heart-over-mind viewpoint, because she can be rather illogical and too idealistic sometimes. Saerin's a happy-go-lucky daydreamer who has her head in the clouds often.

On the other hand, Saerin is downright insecure. She cares a lot about what other people think, and tends to be quite a pushover and a little too much of a softy because of her sensitive nature. She's definitely not very tough-skinned and is quite emotional. Her fears (listed below) take a big toll on her and she's prone to nervous breakdowns. Still, though, she maintains the stage persona of a big sociable sweetheart. As a complete people-person, she dislikes being lonely; if she's left alone, her mood will go down as well. Saerin thrives on social interaction, and she's always sweet and polite - sometimes even overly-formal (as that was the way she was raised.)

Family Background: Kim Saerin was born in Seoul, South Korea to a creative photographer and a down-to-earth accountant. Still, it didn't matter about their contrasting personalities; Saerin's family of three was a happy one, and it stayed a happy one... until her father died in a car accident when Saerin was 11. It changed the whole dynamic of the Kim family. Her mother became more strict with her daughter, fearing to be the subject of neighbour's gossip; a single working-class mother with no interest in other men needed to raise her daughter up just right. And so, Saerin was forced to become more mature and responsible; her mother taught her how to become a "proper lady." However, Saerin only had one dream: to become an idol.

How she got into the agency: Saerin didn't particularly have any talents which stood out. She was okay at singing, her dancing skills could do better, and her rapping was atrocious. She did, however, had one good thing to her: her face. Through her father's brother, a few strings were pulled so that Saerin would become a trainee under WM entertainment. However, she did have to go through 6 arduous years of training.

Perspective about music: Saerin is basically a person who loves, loves, loves music. She is completely passionate about it, full stop; music is her life. It was there for her through her ups and downs - her best friend, really. So to have a career in the industry? Amazing. Though her position in E:ROSE may not be considered all that important, but she puts her every effort and emotion into the vocal lines she does have.

Lifestyle before debut: In school, she was pretty much in the middle crowd and quite exceptional at maths (because of her mother's tutoring); she always placed in the top 10 in her year level. Other than that, Saerin was remarkably average; no one even knew she was a trainee or would've assumed so, because her musical ability never really had to opportunity to present itself. Though her mother rather disapproved of Saerin's decision to pursue a career in music ("a dead-end job", her mother would state) she did eventually give in when Saerin promised to major in economics at Seoul University.
