Asia in the U.K & U.S?! - 24th December 2010

Recently, I've been noticing the ever growing amount of asian stuff filing it's way into my country. Now i'm not saying it's a bad thing, it's just....a double edged sword. It makes it easier to get hold of asian stuff, but there are also the occasional people who know nothing about where it came from. My problem with this is atht these few people end up thinking it was some british crack head that came up with the idea in his basement, or that it is mass produced in china by 7 year olds.

When i went shopping the other day, I saw those (weird) sleep suits for adults and everyone but me seems to have one of those beanies with animal faces and ears.

There  has been the music video with Nikki Minaj &  Will.i.am(the guy that has wormed his way into so many mv's) - Check it out. They have korean text throught ther video. Poreotics worked a Justin Beiber video. Peaches Geldof (British socialite/ Fashionista) said she wanted to work with G.Dragon. Not to mention the song that blew up and got Asians more noticed in the music industry: Like a G6 - Far East Movement.

The tv (Channel 5)advertisement for our prince getting married and becoming king (we haven't had a king in effing years, so it's a big deal to most) Plays the begining of Bonamana by super junior! I was eating curry last night while watching tv when it came on. At first I just stopped chewing to listen. Upon realising i was right, my expressions went:

¬¬

O_O

O_e

><

¬¬

It took all my might not to scream and point at the tv like a 4 year old having a fit. It makes me wonder whether Channel 5 have paid for the rights to use that song. It would be interesting to find out that the U.K is plagerising Korea's stuff when they're ready for blowing up.  It's like:

U.K: "I know a way to stop the conflicts between N.Korea and S.Korea! We'll do something stupid and they'll both join forced to blow our tiny, island to bits. Aren't we genius?!"

Now that I've complained and bigged this "thing" up,you're probably asking "What's your point" and "Make up your mind" right? Well I have made up my mind and the point is: I'm looking forward to seeing more asian artist come into to light throughout the U.K & U.S and getting the recognition they deserve, but i don't want them to have to change their unique style too much or get ed over by U.S

NO WAAAY! If I was watching TV and I recognized Bonamana as the song...I would probably scream and be like, "DUUUUDE, THAT'S SUPER JUNIORR!"<br />
And then my dad would be like, "SHUT UP, NOBODY CARES." xD<br />
But anywho:<br />
I'm starting to notice more of that too! Except, it's really not as prominent in the US. <br />
I mean, most people here don't really care or care to learn anything about Asian culture. If anything, most people here only care about Japanese culture. BUT THAT'S STILL GROOVY TOO! I think that's probably our biggest influence here in the U.S. But not really their music...only a select few here know anything about J-Pop or J-Rock or K-Pop or C-Pop or anything of the sort! <br />
BUT YES! FAR EAST MOVEMENT! I'd say that's the closest thing to recognizing Asians in the music industry we have in the US. But, hey, that's something, riiiight? :3<br />
But I honestly don't mind being a 'weirdo' or whatever they wanna call me just because I like listening to Asian music when they listen to rap and mainstream music and all that jazz. Eh, the US has quite a ways to go in fully recognizing and accepting Asian influence, but it's really cool to hear that that has started to happen in the UK! :D <br />
