Before Sunrise

The sky was a calm cool color, not dark enough to be night and not bright enough to be day. A crisp cool breeze blew across the vacant SM building parking lot as Yeongwon's resident leader, a.k.a. Park Hyorin made her way towards the building entrance. In response to the rush of cold air that dared attack her at this ungodly hour, she swiftly zipped up her jacket and made a mad dash towards the lobby.

Once she stepped inside she decided that since she was here early, she will find a place to relax, rather than heading straight for the Yeongwon practice room. Since her dongsaeng already decided that the rooftop of the SM entertainment building was her safe haven, as leader she felt the need to have her own place, a place where she can go to relax and kill time. Thus she picked the staircase on the sixth floor.

It was a pretty nice place in all honestly. Not a lot of people bothered taking the stairs especially when it is on the sixth floor so it was pretty clean, and since the walls separating the building from the outside world was made of glass she had a great view of the park outside.

Today she would be all alone. Usually she would always be with the other members of Yeongwon. They were like family to her, but today out of all the days, fate HAD to be cruel. Her little 'Jaestar' had to head to Japan to film a drama. Whereas 'Saebaby' was putting the final touches on her first collaboration project. Even her ‘Jagiya’ wasn’t able to keep her company due to competing on Star Dance Battle.

It wasn’t unusual that everyone had busy schedules, but did it really have to be TODAY of all days? That’s right. Today is her Birthday, and now she has to spend it alone. Of course Yeongwon didn’t forget their leader princess’s special day. They smothered her with love and showered her with birthday wishes. (Cause you are our beloved Princess <3) Sadly they weren’t able to spend this day with her though. She acted as if everything was normal. She after all, was the leader. She had to be strong and understanding, but secretly she wanted someone to spend this special day with.

She sat facing the glass wall. Just as she began to let her mind wander. She heard the door leading to the seventh floor open. ‘Who on earth would take the stairs this early in the morning. Wait…who was even here (other than me) at this time?’ She thought.

She turned to face the intruder that dared enter her temporary sanctuary at this time. It was no other than EXO’s resident maknae, Sehun. His face was flushed, and he was trying his best to control his heavy breathing. “Um…Hey Noona.” He quickly composed himself. “What brings you here?”

Hyorin, reluctant to move from her comfortable spot on the stairs replied, “I usually sit here waiting for my friends.” Sehun nooded in understanding. He mentally scolded himself. Couldn’t he think of a better icebreaker? Of course she always sat there. It was her spot. Sehun knew that very well.

“Are they coming soon?!” As he blurted out those four words he regretted it almost immediately.

Hyorin let out a dejected sigh. “Nope. They are all busy with their schedules. I am alone today.” Relief washed through Sehun as he heard the answer he was hoping for. It wasn’t that he disliked them; he just needed to complete his mission today. He had to do it. He was mentally preparing himself for this day for weeks! He had to tell his noona.

“Hyorin noona?”

“Yeah Sehunnie?”

“My hyungs aren’t here yet. Is it okay if I sit with you? You know to wait for them?” Well he wasn’t lying. Technically they aren’t here. In reality he ditched them and sprinted here once he heard D.O. wanted to wish Hyorin a Happy Birthday. It was unfair really. First he calls her HIS genie, now he wants to foil Sehun’s birthday plan. ‘Not a chance hyung.’

“Sure. I need someone to keep me company.” Hyorin smiled her breathtaking famous ‘dongsaeng killer smile’. For a second there Sehun nearly forgot how to breathe. Almost.

“Noona.” Sehun took a deap breath and pulled out a small box with both hands. The box was a white cube (IN DA CUBE!) with a simple (Mr. Simple, Simple…) pink bow on it. “Happy Birthday Hyorin Noona!”

Hyorin’s face brightened immediately. “Sehun, why…”, but before she could finish her sentence.

“I hope you like it. I know it wasn’t much, but…I wanted to give you something…for your birthday and all…” He looked very eager to see her open it, and so she did. Inside was a vanilla cupcake with pink frosting and a plastic hello kitty ring on top.

She picked up the ring, wiped the frosting off of it with her fingers, and wore it. “It is so cute! What do you think Sehun?”

“You look cute…”

“What was that Sehunnie?” (Does that sound familiar? XD) Sehun panicked, rather than coming up with a good cover he did the next best thing. “Noona you have cream on your face.” He used his finger to indicate the area on her cheek.

“But I didn’t even take a bite out of it yet.” Her eyes widened. ‘Oh crap.’ Before she could react, Sehun already managed to scoop a bit of the pink frosting on his finger, and in a swift motion poked her cheek with it.

“Now you do.” He smiled is satisfaction. “Yum, the frosting tastes actually pretty good.” Commented Sehun as he his finger. ‘I guess I can wait until next time to tell her.’

“Yah! Oh Sehun!” Just as she was about to attack him with frosting in retaliation, the sun began to rise. The glass wall started to illuminate the whole stairway. Both singers stared in awe. It was a beautiful sight.

 Sehun smiled lovingly. “Happy Birthday Hyorin Noona.”

And that is how her day began…
