Chara has bi-polar disorder. There are times when she can be extremely happy and cheery then in a few minutes she would change to be angry and irritable ot sad. Usually, it's sparked by stress. Even though she doesn's like to show her emotions, she refused to stay on the medication her doctors prescribed her to because she can't live without feeling her emotions. She ends up refusing to get close to people in fear of becoming too emotional and them finding out about her disorder since she can't control it without the medication. After years of not taking her meds, she learned how to control her emotions without them. No one outside of her famile knows about her disorder.

In the end, she stays by herself and doesn't let anyone close to her. If people try to talk to her, she stays quiet and doesn't respond. This results in people misunderstanding her as cold and sometimes stuck-up and snobby (as if she thought she was too good to talk to them) when really she's just scared ogf people finding out about her secret and how they would react. She finds it hard to open up to people and even i they treat her nicely, she pushes them away. She just doesn't feel comfortable around people.

To keep people a good distance away from her, she pretends to have a short temper. She ignores everyone, especially people of authority. People think she's a rebel because she doesn't listen to authoriy or follow the rules but really it's just a mask. She doesn't want to act angry, in fact she hates it because it makes her stressed but she feels it's the only way.

She acta like she feels no emotions but anger but when she feels herself becoming happy she'll find a way to escape from everone else (not that she wanted to be near people in the first place)  to hide her "other side". When she acts like her "other self", she acts like a little kid, She's very innocent and child-like, amost cute but if you told her she was cute when she is her "normal self", she would definitely smack you. She doesn't like that side of her but she can't control it so she tries to hide it instead.

She tends to stay secluded from everyone else. If she has no choice but to be in a room with a lot of other peo-ple, she would stay in the corner, usually listening to her iPod and blasting music. Don't even try to talk to her if she's like that because she wouldn't be able to hear you, not that she would respond anyway.

All the emotions she keeps bottled in, she releases in her stories and poems. Occasionally she writes songs, but that's only is a tune strikes her too. Literature has to be her best subject, and all the others she completely fails at. She's a writer. Only her literature teacher knows that and, even though she's at the top for that class, she tells her teacher not to tell anyone.

Family background:

Chara was born in GwangJu to her Korean father and Filipino mother but her father's side of the family opposed the marraige since her mother was a foreigner and did not hesitate to speak their opinions because of it.  Tired of all the hate, her father decided to move the family to Manila, Philippines when she was 4 because her mother's side was more accepting of the family. Still, even with miles separating them, Chara's Korean family kept pressuring her mother and father to divorce.

Chara was 7 when her mother became pregnant again. She was going to have a little sister and the family planned to name her ChaeRin. Unfortunately, Chara's father gave in to the pressures from his side of the family and decided to get a divorce. The couple, still madly in love with each other, were heartbroken when they decided to separate. Her mother's pregnant body, however, could not handle all the stress from everything going on in her life and ended up having a miscarriage.  That was when Chara started developing symptoms of bi-polar disorder. According to the psycologist, Chara's "other self" is a young girl in order to make up for the loss of her sister.

Chara moved back to GwangJu with her father but, because she was Filipino- Korean and had a psychological disorder, her family continued to put her down for it so when she turned of legal age, she did not hesitate to move away from her family to Seoul to live by herself.

Heo YuChan/father/42/engineer/He is very submissive. When He was married to Chara's mother, she was the one who wore the pants in the relationship. It's also why he gave into his family so easily. He's still madly in love with Chara's mother but doesn't have the voice to say it to his family. He hasn't seen Chara since the day she left  but sends money to help support her.

Heo ChaeRin/sister/deceased but would be 13/Despite never meeting her, Chara feels a tight connection to her. She was supposed to be her sister, sfter all. She imagined ChaeRin to be one of those cute, adorable little sisters that were just irresistable.

Angeline Ocampo/mother/40/She cares for Chara so much and feels somewhat responsible for Chara's disorder. She constantly calls to check up on Chara, despite international calls being very expensive. Every once in a while, she visits Chara at her apartment but recently Chara moved without telling her mother her address purposely so she hasn't visited for a  while.

Michael Ocampo/step-father/41/ He and Chara have never met so they don't know anything about each other. He doesn't know how to aproach Chara so he feels it's better not to.

Angie Ocampo/half-sister/6/She often tags along when Chara's mother comes to visit her. Chara hates her because she acts the exact same way she imagined ChaeRin would act if she was born.

He's caring and always puts others first. He can be dorky and often very clumsy but that's what people see as his charm. He's not afraid to admit that he isn't perfect but is always looking for ways to improve his flaws. When he smiles, people can't help but smile with him. It's contagious.

Chara feels a stronger connection to him since he did live in the Philippines for a while, but that doesn't actually mean she would be willing to get close to him. He is very quiet and shy. Some call it cute but Chara calls it convenient knowing he wouldn't even try to approach her. He;s very soft spoken and hardly speaks. He's an awkward person, not really someone you would want to be with if you don't talk much yourself.
