Yonghwon is a kind and pleasant person that shows good and affectionate terms with others, but more so with those that she's close and comfortable with. with strangers and acquaintances she's polite and slightly friendly. she is also someone that effortlessly shows her sincere and intense ways although at times may be seen as a bit too serious for others. even so, Yonghwon is quite capable of being trusted and dependable as well because of this. Yonghwon is also someone who likes engaging in actual physical activities and anything else that gets her gears going, especially with her mind or imagination that makes her alert and adaptable.

Yonghwon is also the type of person that doesn't need a lot of things to live with or by and makes and does with little as possible if needs me. although at times she may go a bit overboard if it's something, somewhere, or someone unfamiliar, but in general she prefers only having the necessary things that she really needs as she can always come back to if there's still time or if she's still interested. anyways, Yonghwon is also a person who distracts herself with being physical to exert extra energy and to just relieve her mind and stress because she just needs to release it and not to bottle it all in. plus, Yonghwon needs the energy if she wants to get through her day without being too tired or even lazy. other than that, Yonghwon may judge others secretly, but she would never voice it out as everyone has their own right and way of doing things and thinking. so she's chill and let others do them while she does her own thing.

anyways, Yonghwon isn't someone that does things on impulsive and so she's actually careful to avoid anything that she isn't used to or knows that it isn't right and deems as possibly dangerous towards her well-being and others. this causes her to be hesitant at times because she doesn't make decisions as quickly as she would like to or have them be as effected as they should be, but then again she'll take a moment to see if any of it is worth it and she'll give it a try first. often times though Yonghwon can be a bit strong-willed and difficult when she believes she's in the right as long as she sees it that way until proven wrong and she admit humble defeat. however at times it may cause her to be a little fond of causing some trouble in a playful sort of way where it isn't harmful to anyone or anything. then again, Yonghwon's a little weird and some things that don't make sense to others just makes perfect sense to her.

all in all, Yonghwon can be shy and reserved with strangers or people she can't vibe with. however she does act and behave differently with those she finds a different level of comfortability with and will let her guard down. she is a person that needs to recharge a few times and enjoys her 'me time' and really needs to them to go about her day if she has to interact with others and speak to them. anyways, if you're good to her with even good intentions, then she'll be good to you no matter what. just don't mess with her as she doesn't have time to play dumb games and gives out even dumber prizes.

bckground.

Yonghwon grew up in a nice home, but her parents weren't around much due to their busy schedule of work and so she hung out with her sister more often than she ever did with her parents. the only time she ever did see them while growing up were during holidays, weekends, the teacher-parent meetings, school events, breakfast, and dinner. there wasn't anything malicious or neglectful on their part, it was just, how it was. Yonghwon's parents provided for her and her sister with a home, food, clothes, and other things that children needed to live their life while under their parents' guidance and what not.

anyways, because of the lack of parental guidance Yonghwon saw Yeongwol as more of a parental figure despite their age difference of six years. at first Yeongwol thought her baby sister was a brat and it was kind of annoying having her around and such, but eventually they grew closer over the years than apart. Yonghwon followed her older sister around like a duckling and wanted to do what she did and what not. it's how she got into traditional Korean instruments because Yeongwol played them. although her sister gave up on them as she wasn't as interested in it a year or so later, but Yonghwon enjoyed it and wanted to continue playing it. anyways, despite their age and growing up and having other interest, the duo made time for one another whenever they got the chance to.

soon enough Yonghwon found singing to be super exhilarating and developed a love for it that she sang any chance. she soon expressed her interest in joining the entertainment world one day and Yeongwol was all for it and supportive, but their parents were hesitant. they were okay with Yonghwon singing and playing the gayageum for the fun of it, but to actually pursue a career in that field didn't seem ideal. honestly, her parents advised against it as it wasn't a stable career and chances of her being successful was highly slim. more importantly they pointed out her age as she's too young to make such a decision that wouldn't be effective. it discouraged her a lot and she was beginning to not think it was possible, but somehow her sister helped Yonghwon achieve this dream of hers behind their parents' back.

so Yonghwon sent in auditioned clips to several entertainments with her sister recording her and even dressing her up, but she didn't get accepted in to any of them. Yonghwon became discouraged and thought that maybe she didn't have it in her for her to be a singer or whatever, but her sister told her not to give up. so they helped her searched for other entertainments out there and maybe one that wasn't big or well-known and searched something more down the chain. that's when the duo came upon a newly established entertainment, Source Music, and sent in Yonghwon's audition clip. she was contacted a week later and was told to come in for a live audition. after that Yonghwon gone to the live audition she had to wait almost a little over a week as she assumed she didn't pass. She received noticed that she was accepted and became a trainee under Source Music some time in late 2009.

Yonghwon can really go to her sister for like everything and anything as she saw Yeongwol as like a mother to her than their actual mother. Yeongwol is Yonghwon's voice of reason and is always there to encourage her. she may not know what the idol life is like for sure, but she does know that it means a lot to her sister to perform. Yeongwol is Yonghwon's #1 supporter and when others claim that their her #1 fan, Yonghwon already knows the real truth to that position, but plays along to the others' words.

during her time in and before the formation of GLAM due to the co-managing of GLAM by Source Music and BigHit, Yonghwon had become close to the members of BTS before their debut and even thereafter. how she first met BTS was at BigHit's dance practice room. she was feeling down about her evaluation one day as she was scolded once again about her dancing abilities. so to cheer herself up she was doing vocal runs while doing soccer ball tricks at the same time as she thought about on how to actually build up her dancing skills and what not.

too lost in her thoughts she didn't notice the boys entering the room and when one of them commented loudly on her ball skills and singing she had accidentally kicked the ball too hard and it hit one of them which eventually hit another after ricocheting off the first peron it hit. practice that day ran differently and instead of actually practicing, the group passed time with learning soccer tricks.

anyways, after that their schedules became different and she went to another company and hardly saw them. their promotions overlapped once in 2015, but after that they didn't see each other again during promotions. it wasn't until she came back to Source Music that Yonghwon was able to interact with them like long time friends.

during a solo dance practice time, Yonghwon was actually dancing to all of TXT's promotional tracks to loosen up her muscles, but play around in all the member's position. TXT happened to hear their song play and grew curious as to who was dancing to it. they were surprise to see Yonghwon as the sole dancer and that she was having fun and being serious about it like they would when practicing. anyways, TXT were supposed to be doing their own thing, but of course the two playful members decided to join Yonghwon in the dance.

at first she was kinda weirded out that some random trainees had joined her, but she recognized the two members and not wanting to be awkward about it the trio did the dance a bit sloppily yet it wasn't all that bad. another join in not wanting to be left out and the four dance until the song ended. once the song finished did Yonghwon greeted them respectfully, but they kinda recognized her and knew that she was also older so there was this to and fro of being respectful and not. eventually they just decided to be friends when not 'working'.

soon after that, TXT didn't have to go do their thing and the group of six actually talked and dance to other songs besides their own that day. plus, they informed Yonghwon if she was the trainee that played soccer with BTS back in the day and just recently with ENHYPEN and she confirmed it. TXT didn't want to be left out and so asked if she'll do the same with them. she found it an odd request, but humored the five males once they found a soccer ball somewhere.

when she returned to the company, it is different yet she resumes to do vocal runs while kicking the soccer ball around the new dance practice rooms. it's like deja vu all over again when someone comments on her skills and too lost in thought the ball ran while hitting one and then another, and the group of eight had an awkward, but fun laugh about it. despite how much experienced she has had, but seeing the boys reminded her of her earlier trainee days. just like with BTS, instead of practicing, the group spent playing soccer in the practice run until they stop when one of the members hit a light fixture or something and they all ran away acting like it wasn't any of them. of course Yonghwon took care of it as she was responsible for it all in the first place. no one got in trouble and they became close after that.

she only interacts with a few of her former group mates since the disbandment, but hardly meets up with them as she's busy with her own life unless they meet while promoting. she also had never really interacted with GFRIEND as she was more worry about her life when they were forming and when she returned to Source Music, their schedule and life was different and no chance of actually interacting, despite Yonghwon debuting in the same year as GFRIEND.

trainee & idol life. 

— it was a tough training period for Yonghwon. She wasn't used to this kind of schedule of waking up, practicing, slightly eating, practicing some more, breaks, more practicing until late, some sleep, and again repeating it day after day. for Yonghwon, this was nothing like sports practice and attending school. it honestly had a whole different vibe to it and another level in its own right. the idol training was seriously a roller coaster ride and Yonghwon kind of wanted to quit because she found it overwhelming, but she knew that she couldn't quit so easily. So getting herself together and seeing it as sort of a challenge she didn't want to quit when her sister was there supporting her, too. so Yonghwon toughed it out and knew that eventually she would reach her dream to be on stage and with the others she trained with as she wanted to see them on stage as well.

— of course, all of that was very sadly short-lived as Yonghwon's group, GLAM, disbanded two years after debut due to one of the members having a blackmail scandal. this caused major problems as none of the other members wanted to continue on and so went their separate ways. Yonghwon returned to the trainee life, but seeing as how it felt weird and new groups rising, she wasn't so sure she wanted this idol life now. still though, Yonghwon pressed on. she wanted to continue on with dreaming and hoping for the time to come for her where she could sing and shine on stage again. honestly, Yonghwon thought all of her efforts were for naught, but after having talks with the CEO and others around her, she decided to leave Source Music. the CEO helped transfer Yonghwon to another company, Music K, with his connections as the company was preparing to debut its first girl group. with a brand new start at a different company, Yonghwon believed she needed to work harder and train better for a second shot at stardom.

— again, Yonghwon's second debut was short-lived once more as her second group, THE ARK, quietly disbanded a year later without releasing another track. it was due to poor management as well as one of their members having vocal nodules and needed to leave the group. it was a mess and all the members went their separate ways. feeling like the idol life wasn't really for her at all, Yonghwon expressed her thoughts to her sister. Yeongwol persuaded Yonghwon to continue and that one day she would be able to shine once more. with this in mind, Yonghwon left Music K on good terms and entered FENT and debuted a third time in FANATICS and it's sub-unit FLAVOR, but yet in late 2019 before the group's first comeback, the company no longer thought Yonghwon fit the group and they terminated her contract.

— now feeling highly discouraged from even continuing this idol career, Yonghwon was ready to give it all up and join her sister at the flower shop and be a florist. at least she would be happy without having to worry if she would be able to perform again. that was until Yeongwol highly persuaded once more knowing that Yonghwon couldn't give up and that she was still young and could pursue this singing dreams of hers. anyways, luckily Yonghwon got another shot when her former CEO from Source Music actually reached out to her and offered her to come back and train with them as they would be forming another girl group. Yonghwon was hesitant, but just for her sister and honestly for herself deep down, Yonghwon agreed to return to Source Music. Yonghwon made her fourth/fifth debut in PHOENIX and coming in the top five rankings. she felt proud and accomplished as so many still wished to see her shine on stage and that her talent wouldn't be all for naught.
