how to code? (another help im so sorry)

how to code? in general terms, what type of software do you guys use to code?
the reason is i want to make pretty story layouts basically, i tried these (1,2,)
but when i transfer it unto the aff editor it all jumbled up, i'm going to tear my hair away at how many times i've experienced this
so i have had enough, i decided to post this blog, i've been trying and failing at doing codes (i don't actually release them to the world lmao)
i rely on tutorials here on aff but even those tutorials are kind of outdated (some are good tho! like this one! but there's so much more i can handle with filling in the blanks because im dumb and stupid like that...)

it's either i'm too dumb to code or i'm just not good at this
BUT i am resilent so i want to learn how to code pretty story layouts on my own
so if anyone have any experiences please sound down below!
any help is appreciated to be honest!!

I just code here on aff but on a drafted page so it's private for now until I finish. How I do it is that I'd keep one tab open on the codes then on another tab, the final product so I could see what it looks like. After I input a few lines of codes, I save it (but keep it open to the source editor. Don't change the page.) then just refresh the other page with the final product to see my progress. I hope that makes sense.

I strictly code on aff and rpr bc I want everything to work with the way aff and rpr are.... Ah... Unique

To answer your question "how to code," it depends on ~what~ exactly you want to code. But since you want to make story layouts, the answer is much simpler!

When I make story layouts, I recommend to use Notepad++. It's basically like any other Notepad app. It's free and supports tabbed editing. Plus it's easy to use with Windows. This is what I use, and I've made dozens of little layouts for AFF over the past few years. AFF's editor is weird. Some elements that are available on other editors will probably not work on AFF's editor. I think this is where you might be struggling...? If you could tell us what exactly it is that you're struggling with, it might help me and others with figuring out how to solve the problem. <div> and <span> tags are usually the main culprit.

And when it comes to story layouts -- I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to achieve, but there is usually only a few elements that you really need to create something ~operational.~ I don't think anyone is "too dumb" or "not good" to code here, AFF's editor is just...not normal LMAO.
